The Roxy is one of those places you take for granted--until it's gone. The historic and beautiful art deco theater has been open since the 1920s. I remember seeing movies there as a kid and I am pleased to be able to see live shows as an adult. (They still show current movies at the crazy low price of $4.) As old time theaters go, the Roxy is on the small side. But its grand art deco design and decor rivals any larger playhouse. Anywhere you look--the walls, ceilings, stage--you are reminded that generations of theater-goers sat in that same spot for over a century. It's nostalgic, cozy and magical. We have lost so many historic theaters in this area... this one deserves the public's support. Because of it's smaller size, there's not a bad seat in the house. We were seated halfway down the aisle, on the furthest right of three sections, and had no difficulty seeing every inch of the stage. Seats, while not luxurious, were comfortable. The theater does its best regarding accessibility. Though, it might be a challenge to navigate the small lobby, where the refreshment bar is, when filled with people. There is a dedicated wheelchair section in the theater, but also enough space to wheel down the aisles. As I understand it, there are restrooms on the first level, but also a small ladies (2 stalls and a tiny sink) up a narrow flight of stairs. The snack bar is limited with popcorn, candy and a variety of drinks. The butter seemed fresh, but I was a bit disappointed that my popcorn wasn't hot. I don't know a thing about "acoustics", but from my seat, the sound level was perfectly fine and the singing was clear. Overall we had a lovely time and look forward to returning for more live shows. What a beautiful classic theater. Reminds me of the Boyd Theater which was torn down and replaced with apartments. Please take your children to the Roxy to see what real theaters used to look like from the Hollywood Glam days. Prices cannot be beat, both parents and kids will be happy because there is no need to say no when they ask for a box of candy here! I don't know about everyone else but after admission, popcorn and sodas at modern theaters with reclining seats I'm almost broke and refuse to pay $6.99 for a box of candy on top of the exorbitant must get items. Anyway I took my son to see King of Kings cost for 2 with admission, large popcorn, sodas and yes ... CANDY was $20 total. Yep WINNER,WINNER chicken dinner LOL. We'll be back and in case anyone asks, no the seats don't recline but audio and visuals were both great and I think the ticket and concession prices were fantastic! read more

No seriously... the moment you lock eyes with the outside it feels like you are taken back on a journey through this TIMELESS masterpiece of a movie theatre. They are always on their A-game showing the most EXCITING movies. The popcorn is PHENOMENAL. The butter is SO mouth watering and they always put on the right amount of salt. The touch of elegance and class throughout this cinema is something that I look for in every theatre. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE. Theres really nothing like it. They just have "it". Came here as a kid. Now I get to bring my kids here. So it might be a little small and not completely dark inside but the seats are comfortable and can you really beat $3 tickets with $3.25 Large popcorn and $2 candy. But in all seriousness, the building is charming and the people nice. It has a family atmosphere and you will likely see the movie with some kids in the room. The picture and sound quality is good though you can find better. It is very clean inside the theater as well as the lobby and bathroom. I have never had a bad experience in the multiple time I've visited. This is the place to go to see a movie you're not heavily invested in and you don't care for a very serious atmosphere. With the sad closing of The Boyd in Bethlehem several years ago, The Roxy took up the title of best place to see a movie in the LV. I mean what more could you possibly want? It's $3 all shows. There are no commercials or ads. Plenty of free parking behind the theatre. Beautiful exterior and interior that has only gotten better over the past thirty years as the seats, curtain, floors and lighting have all been lovingly renovated. The building has a lot of history attached to it. If you talk with the owner he'll tell you stories about how he ate dinner with KISS before they played the theatre in '75 or about Billy Joel playing there (contrary to Bryan M's claim of the 80's it was in '73 for $2 per ticket) and several others. In '99 I saw Robin Trower play at The Roxy and all I can describe the show as would be really, really loud with poor acoustics for a rock concert. The place has a lot of character and it's part of a dying breed of old vaudeville theatres that got a second act versus the idea that it's somehow better to pay four times as much for the same movie at a Carmike. Great old theater to watch movies. Owner is a little crabby but it's no big deal. Runs movies that have been out two weeks or so but you don't have to pay really high prices. Snack Bar stuff is pretty regular to. Almost forgot, majority is Family Movies. Take the family, no need to stop at the bank and pull a loan. read more

The Roxy in Northampton is a beautiful and nostalgic former nickelodeon that has been fully renovated to show second run movies. Tickets are highly affordable at $3, and concessions are likewise reasonably priced. But let's not kid ourselves here. You're not coming to this theater just because it's cheap. You're coming for the beauty and the history. And in that respect and more, this theater delivers. As a child of the multiplex era, the Roxy is a breathtaking look at the pre-Netflix, pre-tentpole days of movie palace grandeur. It is a beautiful theater, and very reasonably priced. But I won't go there again anytime soon... The owner likes to make fun of handicapped people. I walk with a single point cane when i can (I need forearm canes when walking a great distance) but it does hurt when I walk. I was going to get some refreshments. There was no one, absolutely no one in line, or even approaching the line. I went up to the counter, and the owner said that I would have to walk around to the other side of the rope line to enter the proper way. I mean really! Very nice theater but watch the owner. He is like a Seinfeld Soup Nazi of the lobby. Pros. Great prices, Great popcorn, Great Staff. Art Deco Style. Cons Flat seating (dont sit behind a tall person) Bathrooms a little smelly and small. Small lobby, you can get stuck outside in the winter waiting to get in. This is a great tradition and you need to work with the theater's age and if you do, you will get a great movie on a large screen, great popcorn and money saved to your pocket. Enjoy. read more

Fantastic place to bring your family. Tickets are always 3 dollars. When they give back change its recieved in gold dollars. There is no movie previews and the food is cheap but taste great. My kids love this place. read more

A thoroughly delightful experience. The Roxy is what appears to be a renovated old-time single screen theater that's been restored and used for second-run movies. It's a throwback to a time when going to the movies was something of a special occasion, a refreshing change from today's mega-complexes. For a whopping $3 per ticket my son and I enjoyed "The Great Gatsby" in a warm, fun and nostalgic atmosphere to which we'd happily return time and again if it wasn't almost two hours from our home. It's a beautiful setup for a movie theater. Prices are fair and reasonable all around. All the other reviews here pretty much sum it up. One thing to add: I was impressed with the sound system at the theater. I saw Rogue One here and the sound quality was A+. read more

I have been going here since I was a kid and I'm now 40. The theatre provides an experience that far surpasses what the mega theaters with their reclining/reserved seats can come close to offering. Theatre is beautiful inside and so well kept. Men's bathroom has been redone which was a big surprise. The owner is strict about cell phone usage but this is all part of the experience, a movie experience from past days where technology isn't a distraction from what you're there for! Thank you for keeping this gem open and continually providing an experience we can't get elsewhere! read more

Nice theater...too bad the owner is kind of an ass. Who gives a rats ass if you go into the theater on the right side or the left? This guy does. Especially when its a slow night... Great selection of films. 3 bucks gets you in. Newer chairs. Concessions at great prices. The atmosphere of an old fashioned theater at an affordable price. A great spot to go if you missed seeing the movie in the first run in theaters or if you want to see a particular movie again. Minimal (2 or 3 minutes ) pre show content. What's not to love about the Roxy? A great (if second-run) movie for just three dollars! The refreshments are similarly priced. I grew up seeing movies here and it will always be my favorite theater. The decor is gorgeous and takes you straight back to the Roaring 20s, although they recently renovated to the extent of replacing carpeting and putting in new seats -- with cup holders! It's a great place to spend an evening. And hey, they give you change at the ticket booth in dollar coins, so it's a good way to finish your Presidential Dollar coin collection, too! ;) read more

The Roxy is the only theater i like to go to. It has gorgeous historic elegance and you cant beat the prices.

Best theater in the LV for comfort, price and free parking if only the rest rooms were decent.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. A beautiful theater, and very reasonably priced.  But I won't go there again anytime soon.. The owner is unresponsive to the needs of handicapped people, which is illegal according to the ADA laws. A man with 3 teenagers, all 4 of which were using their cell phones had the manager criticize a young handicapped man sitting across the aisle from us for talking.-The DOLBY during the movies was turned up way TOO LOUD, how anyone 4 aisles away could hear anyone talk is beyond me! Besides that, the bathrooms were disgusting and neither had any soap. How unfortunate that a "family" movie theater only seems to cater to families with cell phones. read more
