The snack stand is very overpriced. Paid for a jumbo popcorn and it was only filled to an inch and a half below the top. Anywhere else I've ever bought popcorn, it has always been filled piled higher than the top of the container. The chili dogs are expensive for what they are... especially when an employee whispers "this one's moldy" to another employee and has to be TOLD to throw it away. Was he really thinking of serving that to us??? Nearly $7 for a gross bun, small hot dog and a scoop of poorly made chili. The bathrooms are absolutely awful. None of the stall doors lock properly, at least in the women's room. Every lock is bent so you end up having to hold the door closed with your hand. They're also extremely small and cramped. There's only one sink and the women's room sink the faucet moved and I could almost not get the water to come out. I've never seen such a rickety faucet! When this place cost us $24 just to enter, I expect the bathroom facilities to at least be properly cared for. They have one sink in each bathroom to maintain, and they can't even care to do that. I was excited when I heard this place was going to remain open under new ownership some years ago, but at this rate, I think it honestly should've just closed. From now on i'll bite the bullet and drive farther to go to Becky's. Much much better maintained and much fairer prices. read more

We were finally able to get into this place, during the pandemic and were able to watch Invisible Man and The Hunt. It's such a cute idea! They have rows for cars and SUVs. There's a snack bar/concession stand where you can get fresh popped popcorn, pretzels, drinks, candy and other goodies. It's really cool that it syncs with your car radio or a regular radio - you just have to tune into the channel they tell you. You can't leave your car on though. It is $10 per adult and $7 for children, but you can watch one or both of the movies offered. Many people bring coolers of foods and snacks, park their trucks/SUVs backwards and watch inside their trunk, on the flatbed or on chairs they bring. Normally you would have to get there early, but during the pandemic, we got there WAAAAY too early, but on the bright side, had our pick of spots. There is also a restroom on site and it was overall a very fun time! Looking forward to coming back again! read more

With very few drive-in theaters left, this one in a gem. $10 for adults and $7 for kids Dow a double feature. Five of us went to see Black Panther and The Empire Strikes Back. We left after the first feature because it was getting late but it was still a bargain. The fresh popped popcorn was delicious and I think they use real butter. Unfortunately the hamburger upset my daughters stomach but that was the only negative. The concession staff was friendly and helpful. The vehicle in front of us had their hatchback up during the move that was above their roofline. Per their rules, "D. Hatchbacks that extend above the roof line of the vehicle may need to be lowered to not exceed the height of the vehicle." We told the field personnel about the concern 3 times and finally a manager, Paul, comes out to talk to my Fiance and I. He comes up with this attitude and proceeds to tell us to sit in pack in our jeep (2 children seats and 3 adults) instead of sitting outside. About 75% of everyone was watching outside. He said the hatchback is level with the roof and said he can't do anything. He said if we're happy to get our money back. I told him I didn't like his tone from the get go and he walked away. We will not be back. Becky's Drive In is far better anyways. The picture shows when the hatchback was down and when it was up during the movie. read more

Our favorite drive-in theater with a super large screen that's nice and visible from any parking spot you get. Great priced concessions, super reasonable and fair. They also allow outside food and drink but I'm always sure to support them and their concession stand even if I grab pizza or something from next door, Always gotta get my popcorn and soda! Also they use real butter too so it's even better. Make sure you get there before 8pm or you risk arriving at a sellout. They sold out meer minutes after our 8:05 arrival. They do not sell tickets online, only at the gate. read more

Went here this past week and caught the double feature. We backed our suv in by the snack bar and set up while it was still kind of light out. The people at the ticket office and snack bar were all really nice and friendly. Not the "I have to be friendly because my boss is here" type, but generally happy and kind people! The food is incredibly well priced and everything we had was better than the food you get at a chain movie theater. I hadn't been to a drive in since I was a kid so I wasn't sure if it was as great as I had imagined. It was actually better! We had our hatchback open and brought chairs with cushions and blankets to sit outside of our car. It was definitely the right move. It was so much fun being able to sit outside with friends and watch movies on a huge screen. I really cant think of anything that would make the experience better. 9$ for a double feature?! A friend of mine told me about this drive-in theater. It's about 45 minutes from where I live and it was well worth the drive. If you have ever been to a drive-in theater, it will bring back days of simpler times. If you haven't been to a drive-in, you will really enjoy the "vibe" of this place. For $9, you get a double feature. The first feature is family/kids' oriented. The second feature is geared towards the teenager/adult crowd. The food cost here is incredibly reasonable. You can pack your own food and drink (non-glass please), but if you want the "movie-type" food, this place has it all for a great price. The place is well run and the facilities are clean. It's just a fantastic place to see a movie. Pack you car, truck or SUV with some lawn chairs and enjoy your evening under the stars. read more

I went to see Black Widow and the experience was less than desired. The establishment was ok except for the small screen, as compared to Becky's. The people next to us was obnoxious, a guy smoking weed despite seeing me with an infant in my hands. His kids were loud and louder. There should be some patrolling especially when you can smell someone smoking an illegal drug in your establishment. For these reasons I am definitely going to Becky's first before thinking of returning to this drive-in. read more

My fiancé and I went here to see It 2. I love that you can bring your own food in. We got there by 530 and the gates opened at 6. I am so glad that we did. It got packed. I loved that you could sit outside of your car and hear the movie or sit inside the car. The concession stand was also reasonably priced. I can not wait till next season. read more

It also happens to be the oldest drive in movie theatre in America and has been in continuous operation since 1934. They're open in April and may on the weekends and 7 days a week in June, July, and August. Also, they don't cancel shows even if its raining, which kind of sounds counter-intuitive, but I guess it could workout. It's $9/ adult, $5 for children 3-12 years old, and free for 2 years and under. For the experience, I guess it's fair. Right now, they're showing Monsters University and Man of steel and will soon be showing Despicable Me 2. Great movie choices!! And you're allowed to watch both movies if you want, so for most it's like $4.50/ adult. Nice! read more

It's a fun and different experience to watch a movie outside :) The management have maintained the place well. Very friendly staff. Please take a thick blanket and a radio ( must ). Drive-ins are not dead but they are dieing. I was lucky enough to live within 45 minutes of this place. I no longer live there but the memories are cherished. The concept is simple. Pack up the car. Put the kids in jammies and go to the movies. The prices is cheaper then going to a regular movie theatre and you get 2 movies for the price of 1! I'm a self-appointed movie buff. When my first son was born I thought my moviegoer days were numbered. Someone suggested a Drive-in and my response was... "They're still around?". With a little Internet and longing to connect with my childhood I found Shankweiler's. They are only open during the summers and the movie rotation is limited due to their budgets. They do present 1st run movies just not as many due to obvious reasons. If you have kids you are in luck. They will often setup their double feature so that the 1st film is family friendly. The 2nd one is often geared towards adults (sometimes Rated "R"). This is a great setup since the kiddies are usually asleep by the time the 2nd film starts. My first experience was a double feature of Disney's "Cars" and then "Superman Returns". Since my little boy was only just 1 I could not take him to the regular theatres due to his vocal abilities! It was a great introduction to the drive-in and since then my wife and I had gone to Shankweiler's a total of 4 times. One final note is that I recommend bringing your SUV or pickup truck if you have it. We have a small SUV which we convert to a mini bed during the films. The audio is played through your FM radio. If you have never experienced a Drive-in I implore you to get out and experience it. It might be your last chance. Its a dieing industry. read more

Great old place! Clean, neat, super movies (for kids), and very affordable. We brought our own snacks, and tbh our own beer, and sat out and enjoyed a wonderful evening. Great time for the kids. Small gripe, huge SUVs make sight lines a bit tough. They hand out string to tie down the lift gate, but the guy in front of me was the only individual not to use his. The staff attended to this quickly, and I appreciated this. We will be back, and quite honestly, wish we had decided to start going sooner. read more

Last night we hit up this Drive-In - it was my husband's first time at a drive in theater, my second and it was FANTASTIC. $8 per person got us a double feature and any food and drinks we wanted to bring in with us (a big change from the other drive ins that I've heard of - not that there are many). The snack bar was tasty, the crowd fun and relaxed (wear pajamas), the grounds would've been meticulously maintained - we loved it. And I hope to be back and there soon. read more

This sounded like a really good date idea but It was sold out when I got here 50 minutes before and it was all sold out and I just think that is ridiculous and there should be a way to make a reservation or know how many tickets are left it is just really disappointing. What an awesome place! Its so great laying out and watching a huge screen outside. We saw two movies, the first starts around 9:30 and the second at midnight. For $9 it's not a bad deal! The area is really nice and clean and there was barely anyone there on a Thursday night so it was perfect. Can't wait to come back!!! We went on a double date with another couple to the Shankweiler's Drive-in for the first time last night and had such a great time. It was such a great way to spend the night on such a beautiful day. The prices are reasonable (even at the concession stand) and there really isn't a bad spot in the place. We forgot chairs so just put out a blanket and were able to see the screen just fine even with big SUV's in front of us. I REALLY hope that the oldest drive-in theatre in America will never join the several others that went out of business. I'm looking forward to going to this drive-in several more times next season - it's worth the 45 min drive. read more
