There was a snack bar with homemade fruit pie slices for $3.00. Also served hot dogs, burgers, and chips. Always wear ear plugs to prevent permanent hearing loss .

There are some traditions that make summer feel complete, and the Furman Park Summer Concerts are…read moredefinitely one of them. My entire month of July was spent here with my community, and I loved every single minute of it.The concerts start at 7:00 p.m., but I was always the first one there since I live the closest. I'd show up with my folding chairs, claim a big spot, spread out blankets, and save plenty of room for everyone. Then I'd wait for my friends to arrive. You know the evening is officially about to begin when they play Downey's official city song! I had no idea Downey even had a song, but it's absolutely adorable and always puts everyone in a great mood. Our final concert was extra special--we had a grand total of 22 people at our little gathering! Every week turned into a giant community potluck with everyone bringing something delicious to share. One weekend my friends even surprised me with a birthday party, complete with a decorated table and cake. It made me feel so loved, and it's a memory I'll treasure forever. There's something so peaceful about sitting on a blanket, listening to live music, chatting with friends, and watching the sun slowly set over the park. It's a reminder that some of the best nights don't have to be expensive--they just need good people and good music. The concession stand offered the basics--hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn, pie, and drinks. I do wish there were a few more food options, but maybe that's something they can expand on next year. Before the concerts, there were booths from local businesses like Lazy Dog, the Downey Theatre, dental offices, and other community organizations offering fun giveaways, games, and raffle prizes. We never won the raffle tree, but we sure had fun trying every week! One of my favorite parts was running into so many familiar faces. It truly felt like the entire community came together to enjoy summer evenings at the park. The only downside? July is over way too fast! I wish the concert series lasted longer because one month just isn't enough.Thank you to everyone who makes these concerts happen each year. Until next summer...

The staff are friendly, helpful, and always available to answer questions or lend assistance, which really enhances the overall experience. The park itself is clean, active, and welcoming, with a great mix of regular users who help create a positive, community-oriented atmosphere. A big highlight is the newly renovated pickleball and tennis courts. The updates have made a noticeable difference, and the courts now play exceptionally well--definitely a huge plus for anyone coming out to get some quality court time. These 4 permanent pickleball courts are in phenomenal shape and hardly any people are there in the mornings. Makes for a great place to drill and singles. There is plenty of parking and for added touch, EV parking. There is a tennis courts attached, but separated by gates. Be sure to bring your own water because the fountain doesn't work that well.
