During our sessions, I feel that she carries herself in a very welcoming and chill positive vibe, which I love about her. Ariel has always been so accommodating and flexible when scheduling an appointment to meet with her. I am also appreciative when she gives me a confirmation text before we meet the next day even though I have it in my calendar already. It's definitely those little things that matters! Honestly, it was really hard for me to understand and tell myself that I needed a little help, mentally. I was terrified in reaching out to any therapist, but I'm so glad I reached out to Ariel! I love how I can freely have a conversation with her without any judgement, move from topic to topic, and know that she can keep up with my thoughts and emotions plus help me sort it all out. I have shared some heart felt, deep and meaningful conversations with Ariel that I'm so relieved to be able to get it off my chest. I definitely feel that since our first session in June, Ariel has been by my side to help me open up, grow, heal, and learn to love and accept myself. She literally my cheerleader supporter but more chill vibes than perky haha. It really means a lot and I'm so proud of the progress we have made so far. I hope for others that are reading this as well, they will have the courage to reach out to Ariel and get the help they need. It's okay to ask for help. I'm so happy I did and reached out to Ariel. Healing is such a beautiful thing. (:

Hi all, I am a…read moretwo-time CFD alumni and I feel called to write this review. I am 23 years old. I attended CFD 6 years ago at Pacific Place. I was 14 years old the first time I attended and 16 years old the second time. I was placed here after a suicide attempt. I believe it is important for parents to know the extent of the damage that can be done here and in the surrounding culture. The first major thing a parent should know is that CFD WILL take your kids to meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous everyday. These meetings are actually treated like a privilege, which looking back, is insane. No child should be sent to Alcoholics Anonymous. Traumatized children need therapy, and while CFD does offer that, I can tell you that the thing that was stressed the most is the AA way of life. They utilize the outdated and heavily debated disease model that AA created in 1935. You can get the same results that CFD offers by simply taking your kid to AA meetings for free. Secondly, almost every single staff member here has no qualifications other than working the 12-steps. Unfortunately, this is very common in most treatment centers, whether they "specialize" in adolescents or not. Additionally, at least at the time I went, we were allowed to go to YPAA dances while at the facility. While, sure, there is no drugs or alcohol allowed at these events, there sure is a lot of sex with minors, cigarette addictions and passing of contraband, and exposure to felons and criminals. (Nothing wrong with felons and criminals, but children should not be around them until they can be rehabilitated.) The last thing I want to say is about the alumni meeting that happens every week where the parents are upstairs and the kids are downstairs. This meeting is nothing but the organizers controlling vulnerable parents who just want to help their kids. They will try to get you into Al-Anon (another 12 step program not based in science) and they will constantly shame you if you do not want to be a part of this group. They will say that you don't want to do what it takes to help your kid. My own mother became a victim of this mindset. Luckily through individualized therapy, we have both recovered from our Substance Use Disorders and our relationship is better than ever. Shaming parents and kids does not work in the long run and that is all these 12-steppers know how to do. I sincerely hope this review helps a parent make the right decision for their child. I suggest individualized and PRIVATE therapy for both the parents and the child who is struggling.

The after care plan suggested was for him to go home and attend PHP at a facility 5 minutes away. This is NOT a safe and wise course of aftercare treatment for someone in recovery. It was recommended that my son not go back to his sober living home due to their emphasis on working out. I am heartbroken to say that the alternative we chose (PHP at the Chicago and then Florida facilities) did not work out. Living on his own, in an extended hotel, he relapsed and we have not been in contact with him, except when he needs money. In summary, while CFD's in patient program seems wonderful, the aftercare plan is extremely disappointing and does not take into consideration people who have a substance abuse disorder.

The main reason I chose her was because I was seeking a therapist that would truly understand my cultural background and family's language (Spanish). Indeed, I truly felt "at home" with Fanny because I felt she understood my cultural background and life experiences as a Latina daughter of immigrant parents. This helped me open up to her a great deal, which is essential in building a strong therapist-patient relationship and accomplish one's desired goals from therapy. Fanny helped me heal from very deep traumas, anxiety, depression, and phobias. Healing is definitely not an easy journey, yet I was ready and determined to heal, and I am 100% satisfied with my decision of choosing Fanny as my therapist. When a challenge/experience arrives in my life, I get to face it knowing I can call on him if I want to. It matters. The knowledge that there is a therapist I have built trust with provides a freedom to face the unknown on my own, without being alone. In a perfect world, everyone would have a therapist. I had no idea how much my ability to work through challenges would improve, just from having someone to talk through the big ones with. Patrick in particular has a deep understanding of the ways our minds can respond to life, and provides that insight without the detached, clinical vibe so many therapists seem to approach patients with. It's something truly special that he brings to the table. Finding a therapist you vibe with is not a simple task. Having one is a gift. You are a gift, Patrick. Thank you.

I was initially apprehensive about seeing a male therapist as I worried that I'd be embarrassed to open up to him or that he wouldn't understand me. I was wrong. From the first meeting he just told me to say what was on my mind, I did and it was great and I left feeling like I'd actually done something that was helping me move in the right direction. He's friendly, kind, welcoming, a great listener, I don't know how he does it but he remembers pretty much everything, he's funny and you feel like he genuinely cares about what you have to say while helping you realize the reasons why you feel and act the way you do. Along with other important changes I've made in my life, he has truly been a great help in guiding me to be more assertive and quiet my own inner critic enough to find peace of mind. There is still work to be done and I know that Patrick will be able to continue to help me. It goes without saying that I highly recommend Patrick.

However my joint session with my ex-husband and Erin was literally the turning point of the failure of our marriage. He was a complete narcissist, and during the session, I remember clearly discussing something heavy and crying, and my ex was literally "shooting the shit" with her, talking over me (typical dismissive gaslighting behavior I was accustomed to)...and she was chuckling with him. Ignored me as I tried to finally open communication with him. Then she literally looked at me and in front of him, said, "I think you are the problem." So the "safe place" turned into another episode of the 'Todd Show'. Humiliating beyond belief and I felt like I was thrown under the bus of my own trip to healing. WTF?! Well, years after our divorce, I am happy, self-sufficient, and healthy, which is what matters the most. Maybe she could've been more present during our sessions, she didn't even remember some extremely traumatic events in my childhood I shared. Which is hard enough to do as is. Take notes, please Erin. That experience with you still haunts me to this day and I often wonder, had I selected a therapist with more experience, maybe I wouldn't be a single mother now? She is a great person, I did feel comfortable with her so I don't mean any harm with this review. But I am the one with these depressing memories of what could've been....everything happens for a reason? Or did I manifest the end of my union by hiring her. Sadly I flaked on the last of the appointments because I didn't have the nerve to tell her I was angry and disappointed.
