I want to start this review with a high-level background of my "golfing profile" to provide readers…read moreof this review with additional context related to my experience with / perspective of Jim Hartnett. I started playing golf when I was 10 years old (now 39yo), learning the game from 3-4 different teaching professionals from the age of 10 - 17. I played competitively via junior golf and high school golf with a low index of 4.2, and currently am a weekend hacker carrying a 6.1 index. After my high school golf "career", I swore off teaching professionals because I found that the lessons I received conflicted with the golf swing my mind and body were searching for. I was lucky enough to stumble upon Jim Hartnett when signing up for a gym membership at the same facility that Jim gives golf lessons at. Prior to meeting Jim in-person, I thoroughly researched him online, and stumbled upon what I believe to be one of the best & most insightful golf books I've ever read--"Golf for the other 80%: The answer to why you can't improve". After reading his book from cover to cover, I knew I needed to see the application of his golf swing theories first hand, and subsequently had a one hour golf lesson with Jim. Simply put, Jim is a true maverick in the golf instruction space. His approach to golf instruction is completely different from the numerous golf lessons I've had in the past. Jim is incredibly knowledgeable about the golf swing and its associated mechanics, applies the latest and greatest golf swing technology into his lessons, and approaches teaching in a much more practical application manner vs theoretical / didactic manner, which I very much appreciated. After my first one hour lesson with Jim, my understanding of the golf swing had taken a quantum leap forward, and many of the golf swing mysteries I had been trying to solve for years were finally put into focus. The following quote from Mickey Mantle ultimately sums up what my experience with Jim Hartnett resulted in for me: "It's unbelievable how much you don't know about the game you've been playing all your life." Thanks Jim.

Not the best right now…read more Pros first: One of the cheaper golf courses around. Restaurant and bar is nice! Staff is awesome and always friendly! Great workers there. When in good shape, the course is easy and fun! Con's: Course is beat up and constantly being worked on. Felt like every other hole was in maintenance. The fairways had a LOT of dead spots and dirt spots. They also painted the greens so now my balls, shoes, and brand new putter are stained green which is annoying. The greens are also very inconsistent so putting was tough. For the price, it's not bad, but for the bad fairway quality and the painted greens that stain, it makes me almost rather play OSO in MV for cheaper price.

Ron g in the pro shop was awesome…read more I've played a lot of courses, and let's be honest -- tee time logistics with a group can turn into chaos real quick. We had a situation where our tee times needed to be rearranged, and I fully expected at least one person in our party to be annoyed about it. Somehow, Ron G at Shorecliffs pulled it off like it was nothing. He reshuffled everything and managed to keep every single person in our group happy -- which honestly might be harder than playing the course itself. What impressed me most was how smoothly he handled it. No stress, no confusion, no attitude. Just calm problem-solving and clear communication. It felt like he genuinely wanted everyone to have a great day, not just "fix the schedule." Shorecliffs is a beautiful place to play, but having someone like Ron behind the scenes makes the experience that much better. If you've ever tried coordinating tee times for a group, you know how big of a win that is. Appreciate you, Ron.
