    Shrimp Thai Panang Curry
    Rakash S.

Was recommended on Yelp for the Kingston, Ontario area. Really pleased I found this restaurant. Overall reasonable pricing and nice environment for dine in as well. Takeout service was fast. Ordered for take out Vegetable Fresh Rolls and Thai Panang Curry with shrimp. Vegetable Fresh Rolls - Nice golden crispy rolls, not overly fried. Was not prepackaged/frozen. The included Thai sauce is mandatory. Shrimp Thai Panang Curry - Came with white rice. Despite looking like a mess the food was absolutely amazing. Good amount of shrimp and the curry was rich with that distinctive coconut milk taste. Not too oily. Good flavors and spice, would recommend adding some Thai sauce to the mix as well. Overall I enjoyed the food at Royal Angkor Restaurant. Would try again and recommend.

Not a single bad thing to say about Royal Angkor! The restaurant is owned by a really lovely couple that ensures you have the best dining experience every time. Prices are great and the food is delicious. Definitely one of the best asian cuisine places in Kingston. I'd recommend the spicy tofu, house pad thai, golden chicken and the thai vermicelli.

Lovely food great price! I am not an expert on thai food, but I do know great curry when taste it. I orderes the chicken panang curry, with extra tofu on the side. They curry itself was phemomenal. It was the perfect balence of sweet and spicy, wth other over arching flavours. The chicken itself was fine and went well with the curry, but I was surprised with the tofu. They used really soft tofu, like a dessert tofu, which doesnt go well with curry (a firm or deep friend tofu is usually better). The curry was $12 and most dishes are around 10-12 bucks, so very reasonable. Overall, i will be back to try the pad thai and other dishes they offer and reccomend to anyone.

They serve the best spicy eggplant in town. Good service, good staff and lovely food. My favourite for take away.

You cannot go wrong at this place! I go regularly and get either #1 or #11 and start with the spring rolls. Amazing food, served quickly.

About five tables in the front, a kitchen with giant woks, and a genius chef in the back. The place smells of authentic Thai flavors- lemongrass, lime, curry. We ordered the red curry special and the Cambodian meal #9. Both came out quickly and were piping hot. This was the closest in authentic thai flavor that I've eaten outside of Thailand. The spice is out of this world and served against white rice to balance it out, just like in Thailand. It's simple food but complex in taste, and will leave you totally satisfied and amazed. No place in the states can touch his flavor. Highly recommended. Great price, absolutely authentic, go here if you want to taste thailand. I'd give it 6 stars if I could.

The lady at the counter sound Thai and was confused when I asked if they had fish amok and the food here is spicy for Cambodian food. I'm not sure how Cambodian the food is but it's pretty tasty. I was told 1, 5 & 6 were the more Cambodian dishes. Spicy sour chicken (Cambodian style) had a sweet, spicy & rich peanut sauce. Cambodian Village soup was a big portion and was a spicy, rich, thin soup with some coconut milk. Cambodian spring rolls were good: quite peppery, with quite a bit of meat and served with a dipping sauce made from fish sauce, peanuts and carrot. Thai iced tea was big and good: rich and concentrated.

The place takes only debit or cash, so don't forget to bring more than just your credit card! We shared a pad thai, a Cambodiana (green curry based) soup, and then got an iced coffee to go. All were soooo good!! The Cambodiana had a slight kick, but was quite milky rich with coconut milk. It was loaded with chicken strips and bamboo shoots. It basically tastes like a flavourful, watered down green curry... but I'm not complaining! The pad thai was not greasy nor too soft / soggy. There were a few pieces of plump shrimp and the portion sizes were very generous! We were stuffed upon finishing the two mains, and even had to leave some rice behind. I had a coffee craving, so we got a coffee before leaving. At first, I was shocked by the price tag (almost $6 for a one size / small), but the iced coffee was so smooth and rich. It basically tasted like a Vietnamese iced coffee, but much less stringent and not as sweet. A lot of effort was also put into it, with small crushed up bits of ice that quickly cooled down the drink. Delicious! Would love to come back again for Cambodian food.

I liked that there was a good amount of peanuts sprinkled on the pad thai, giving it texture, and the tofu was soft, tasty, and altogether fantastic. I also tried some of the panang curry tofu which, served with a base of coconut milk, tasted fresh and yummy. One of my favourite parts of this restaurant was its ambience -- it's a homey and cozy place and it was fairly quiet when I went on a Wednesday evening. Their hours are pretty limited though (until 8pm on all nights and they're closed on Sundays) so I would keep an eye out for that. Our server was excellent and the location of the restaurant is pretty sweet too -- right in front of the hospital with all the downtown bus stops. I will definitely be back!
