I apparently had a SSD card go bad I was told at first it was a mechanical drive, I told them to go ahead and replace the bad card, I had three of them after all. When they got back to me later it was confirmed the SSD card went bad which was really bad because that card had the windows operating system on it. It was implied that all of my disk drives were bad and needed to be replaced I told them to do what was necessary. The SSD was replaced and they pulled both of my hard drives and added another SSD for no apparent reason because my mechanical drives were just fine, worse they were going to dispose of them without transferring my files!! I could have lost years of files for NO reason. I made them give me my drives (thankfully) because they saved nothing that was on my computer. When I got home and realized how bad it was (and still is windows 11 sucks) I reinstalled both drives yanked one of their replacements. Since then I have wasted 10 hours trying to restore my computer and my files. NOT happy!! I know from past experience that it will take 2 months to find and fix all of the bugs and have all of my files running again. Why in the Hell were my functional drive pulled and not synced up with the new SSD drive? I am frustrated and dreading the hours more work that lays ahead.

That's where I went wrong, but where Mike at CDA Computer Repairs did right. These two towers are our primary systems. One has ALL of our pictures, that's over 20 years of memories. All of our kids pictures. Everything. So, it's imperative we get them running. Mike knew just what to do and jumped all over it. He had them done by the end of the day and was in contact with me for everything. He charges a very, very, competitive shop rate of $65 an hour, and even charges by the half hour which is something I've never seen a shop do. It's really great customer service! Something I admire, and is a "good to know" about how he runs his business, he is out of the door at closing. That's it. All calls go to voicemail and texts get read in the morning. Home is home and business is business. I admire that, a lot. Additionally, he takes recyclables. I dropped off an old Dell, and a network switch I had from my shop, and he took them in to refurbish. I'd rather see them go to his bottom line than see them in a land fill.

This is written based upon MY experience and was not solicited by anyone…read more I have a Brother home computer inkjet printer (Model MFC-J995DW, now discontinued by Brother). Two weeks ago, I replaced the ink cartridges, using knock-offs because Brother's pricing is exorbitant (for me). At about the same time, the printer began acting erratically, including horrible printing and then stopping altogether due to a message stating paper jam. I followed ALL the steps stated by Brother for "clearing the jam." Without any exaggeration, I followed those steps precisely not fewer than 20 times spread over 2 days, and tried all several other things such as cleaning nozzles, cleaning rollers, unplugging, uninstalling/reinstalling drivers, etc., while frustration built. There was NO paper jam of any type, no staples, no paper clips, NO HELP FROM BROTHER (other than to send me the steps, again). I had been to Modern Office Equipment a few years ago with another printer, which they fixed, so finally took this one to them (now partnered with Royal Business Systems, Inc., located at 2717 N. Hogan St., Spokane 99207). Within 24 hours, they diagnosed my printer, found the issues (clogged nozzles, DUST on control tape which INDICATED a paper jam!) and cured the patient (100% operability), and for an incredibly fair and unexpected price! And honey on my biscuit, the two folks with whom I interacted (Reception/Intake AND the Tech) were as nice and pleasant as anyone I ever met. Today was a diamond.

When we didn't hear from them, we called, and were told the printer cartridge had frozen up, and it needed to be cleaned. Simple enough; we told them to go ahead and do it. They called later, and told us the bill was $90. $90?!?! We could have bought a new printer for that! We were billed for one hour of work. I didn't know people who cleaned printers made $90 an hour. Ridiculous. We will never go back, which is unfortunate, since we had plenty of business to throw their way. My advice? STAY AWAY! THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!!!
