I spoke with a manager who apologized and offered a $100 discount; however, they still have not provided itemized pricing. Based on the quote I received afterward, A1 Garage Door Service appears to charge very high amounts in labor and other hidden fees for a job the technician said would take about an hour. The technician was polite, but A1 Garage Door Service did not have the product they promised, refused to provide itemized pricing, and sent a false inspection report -- major red flags that led me to cancel the service.

I was quoted $1,530 for the labor to install a garage door and opener (both of which I supplied). During the install, the tech casually mentioned he "had to grab pullies and cables off the truck." No pricing was mentioned, and I assumed he meant they were part of the job. Once the work was finished, the tech had me sign off on the job -- I was only shown a signature page, not a full breakdown. After I signed, he said, "I just need one more signature," and that's when I saw the new total: $2,270 -- almost $750 more than I was quoted. I asked about the difference, and only then was I told the extra cost was for the pullies and cables -- $360 for cables and $380for pullies (a four pulley and 2 cable kit retails around $50 at Home Depot) which had never been discussed with me in advance. Had I known those parts were not included and would cost that much, I would have declined and stopped the install. I asked for an itemized invoice and was told it would be emailed. It never came, and I had to call a week later to request it again. Once I finally received the invoice, I noticed another charge of $150 for a rail and belt -- despite the fact that my Genie opener came with those parts in the box, still unopened in my garage. I've tried to resolve this directly. I emailed the company with my concerns (no response), and then called. The representative said she would transfer me to billing, but couldn't reach them and promised someone would call me back. It's now been three business days and no one has followed up. Bottom line: The install work itself seems fine, but the way I was charged felt deceptive and dismissive. If you choose to work with Precision Garage Door, I recommend requesting everything in writing before any work begins and double-checking every line item before signing.
