When making the appointment a couple days in advance, I was told the exact opener model I wanted was in stock and would be on the technician's truck, so I took off work to get it installed. A1 Garage Door Service would not provide any pricing when scheduling the appointment. When the technician arrived, he didn't have the model I requested. Even more concerning, while he was still on my property, I received an email showing a "29-point safety inspection" marked as completed -- even though no work or inspection was done. I spoke with a manager who apologized and offered a $100 discount; however, they still have not provided itemized pricing. Based on the quote I received afterward, A1 Garage Door Service appears to charge very high amounts in labor and other hidden fees for a job the technician said would take about an hour. The technician was polite, but A1 Garage Door Service did not have the product they promised, refused to provide itemized pricing, and sent a false inspection report -- major red flags that led me to cancel the service. read more

First I called you because I had to get the door closed and the guy I have used before could not come over. Here is what happened. They were able to lower the door by removing the cables. Then they spent an hour or more messing with it. Checking everything I didn't need checked. My house is sold and I am moving next week. Then they told me a new garage door would probably be cheaper. The garage door is painted and I don't need a garage door. Then the came and said it would be $1400 to repair. I was charged $648 for them lowering the door, 2 new cables and a lot of BS. It should have cost $100 service call and $100 cables. I got it fixed today for $105. I felt like I was talking to a used car salesman. They are a of a rip-off company!!! read more

I decided to use this place because they had high reviews and sent coupons. However, the guy that came tried to upsell me on all their products and then told me he wasn't the salesman. He said my garage doors looked 40 years old when the house was only built 20 years ago.. which was a sign that maybe he wasn't so knowledgeable in the first place. We needed our whole opener and springs replaced. Literally two weeks later, the garage was opening and one of the screws fell right off... I was able to just put it back myself thank god. A couple days later, I got an error message while closing the garage that the sensor was no longer I alignment.. I had to call you back to get it fixed and the guy that came this time said the first guy just barely had aligned the sensors in the first place so I guess they were off. Which was just annoying. On top of that I was charged $1800 for the first job which was completely way too much. I should've done more research myself because I could've gone to Lowe's and paid less than half the price but still had just a good of a job done. They really just added a shit ton of bullshit fees like mandatory trip charge ($40) and shop supply fee (for nuts and bolts $95). These are all overpriced. The estimate for the "beefy" spring recommended was $1200! And under an hour labor as demonstrated by OverHead Doors installation which was exceptional. read more

The service technician/salesman offered a 0% interest financing immediately after scoping the project (two new doors and side mount openers). The website indicated a 0% as well. This is false advertising. After signing the loan docs I was shocked to find out that in fact a 17.99% interest was applied. Extremely disappointed in their service. Had brand new high end garage door openers installed less than 1 year ago. Within 3 months had to have them put to service because sensors not working properly. Tonight came home and found bolts and nuts on the garage floor. I began throwing them away as I didn't know what they were for. Soon realized they were for the arm (or whatever you call it) for the garage door. Called A1 as they posted stickers everywhere on my garage doors advertising 24 hour service, earliest they can come is tomorrow afternoon/evening cause tonight no one is working. read more

They are nothing more than a thief with a business license. Three companies had quoted me $300 to $350 to replace the springs on my garage door. Since they had a coupon in the Valpack for $75 off, I thought I would give them a shot. My son was home and showed him to the garage at which point, the employee told my son he would have to order the springs and that it would be $700. My son then called me and i told him to tell the worker no thanks. I called Overhead door and they came out within two hours and replaced both springs for $354. I would never consider calling A1 for any needs. I called A1 back to let them know of the situation and they said they would look in to it but i believe this is the way they do business read more

I have to admit this will sound like a true "Karen" review but ordered a garage door and paid for it in full at that time. Waited 2 months for delivery but that's okay. Scheduled an install date of November 20 (afternoon). Was told I had to wait that long because they wanted a specific tech to do the job since it was complicated, fine. The morning of the 20th they call to reschedule because the tech isn't available. Not happy but rescheduled for November 30 (also afternoon). Tech shows up as promised but can't do the job in his allotted time because it is more complicated than he was told by the company. Now they expect me to wait until December 17 for the install. This is unacceptable and I confess I was not nice when I let Customer Service know how unhappy I was because they kept saying they couldn't do anything to fix this issue. When we called they said it was their mistake and would refund our account in 7 to 10 business days! don't bother. There are plenty of other garage door services out there. Don't use this one. I had a tech come out to give me an estimate on a broken garage door opener. It looked like he was inspecting the door and the machine but I don't know what he was doing. He barely spoke to me. Would only answer direct questions with a yes or no. He didn't give any explanation of what he was doing or what he was looking for. Foolish me, went ahead and had him install a new opener. The tech made a mess. Left a pile of trash in the middle of the garage. Granted it was the empty box from the new opener, but scattered all over. I had this done three weeks ago and I'm still finding screws and other things he left behind. My old unit had two light bulbs. One burnt out and one still working. Guess which one he put into the new unit? Yeah, the burnt out one. I offered him some water and he asked if it was cold. Why did I bother to offer. When he was finished, he was in a hurry to get out of there. Gave me no instructions on how to use the hand held. It had multiple buttons. I was just supposed to know what they were all for. I had to chase him down the driveway to have him tell me how to take the cover off to change the burned out bulb he put in the new unit. When I went to pay, there was an additional charge for using a credit card which he didn't tell me about until I asked. I paid by check and took the discount. The sales force does not care about potential customers. I tried for 2 days to get someone to show up to give an estimate for a new garage door. They wasted part of one afternoon before I found out they were not going to show. Then wasted an entire afternoon from 2:00 to 6:00 waiting. At 8:15 someone finally called to see if I still wanted someone to maybe show up. I do not recommend this company. I would give them zero stars it was possible. read more

Extremely disappointed with this company. Huge mistake on my part for using this company, so please do not make the same mistake that I did. I had them come out to adjust one of my garage doors after I had some foundation work done. After making the adjustment, there was still a gap between the garage door and the ground so the technician recommended putting a bigger rubber weather seal at the bottom of the garage door. He showed me a back one. When he was done, he switched to a gray one because the black one was too large. Of course he did not tell me before it switched the seal out had to use a different seal and that it was a different color. That is not worse part. Now the new weather seal has big gaps on both ends. I called to have them come out to fix the issue but I was told that they only have a 30 day guarantee and I would have to pay $80.00 for a service call. The technician could not install it properly the first time so why would I pay them again to come out and not get it right. I spent over $260.00 that day and all they offer is a lousy 30 day warranty. What a waste of time and money! read more

Only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because the technician, Ivan, went above and beyond to make things right!!!! Called for a quote, they wanted to send someone out to give me a quote, seemed like they really didn't want to give you an upfront price. So I passed and booked with a different company. 30 minutes later, I was contacted by a service rep who said she listened to the recorded call and felt she needed to reach out. She asked me if I had already went with another company. When I said yes, she told me that they'd like to offer a lower price than what I was quoted and also throw in a free tune up so I agreed. Called and cancelled the other service. When the tech showed up, the quote they gave me was apparently for the lowest grade Springs that only have a 2-3 year life. The previous company o cancelled on had a much better warranty. So Ivan called two different people and they ended up honoring the price but for the next grade up. They wanted to charge double what I was quoted!!!! Not sure I'll ever use A-1 again, but Ivan was fantastic!!! Very polite and did an excellent job of trying to make things right. read more
