if you're going there for gas, I mean, you can't really complain. There's gas there. The Royal Farms shop is what you would expect at any Royal Farms and I don't really know what much more to say about that. The reason I felt it was worth it for me to actually leave a review is to warn that this is not a repeat not somewhere you should go if you need to go to the bathroom. There are two toilets for each gender and when I went, there was a line of literally 10 people and the line only grew. Save yourself the time and energy and go somewhere else. read more

Royal Farms is one of several gas station / convenience store chains in this region. The one in Greenwood is one of their larger locations because it has a truck service area on the same lot. Anyway, Royal Farms advertises their fried chicken a lot, so one evening, I decided to try it. Service at this Royal Farms is a bit lacking. There was a long line of customers but only one cashier on duty. Unlike some Wawa stores, there wasn't a separate line here for cigarette customers, which was not ideal because that seemed to take the most time. Once I paid up, I went to the order pick-up counter. The lady behind the counter stood staring into the distance with a glazed look on her face for quite a while before turning and asking if I had gotten something. This Royal Farms location has a small dining area but it appears no one cleans up here because all the tables were covered in grease and food remnants. I found out why though. The packaging for the fried chicken is clearly inadequate. The grease from the fried chicken soaks through the cardboard box and within a few minutes, everything falls through the bottom of the box. I thought the chicken itself was okay but the breading was a bit too salty. read more

On a recent visit, the building appeared to be brand new, right down to the newly backlit snack displays, which make the packaged snacks shine. There's a good selection of standard convenience store fare, including drinks, as well as pre-prepared packaged vegetables and sandwiches. Hot food too. And to top it off, there are indoor and outdoor seating areas, so you don't have to wolf down food in your car. read more

Pretty decent rest stop! Not sure why it has such poor reviews. Perhaps they used to be terrible and they cleaned up their act. I definitely did not have a negative experience here. The convenience store is well-stocked and had exactly what we needed, the bathrooms were clean, and they have a nice little food court area. Not at all bad for a rest stop along the way (we were heading to Rehoboth Beach, DE from Washington, DC for Memorial Day Weekend). read more

The car wash was broken without a sign and I had to go inside twice to get a refund. I wonder if they bothered to put up a sign after I showed them it didn't work in person! Tried to wash my windshield and found that the rubber piece was missing so no clean wipe. Hmm! read more

Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears. I've come here not to praise Royal Farms, but to warn of it! Seriously though, I've done many road trips up and down the East coast, I've stopped through a ton of service stations (and many Royal Farms), but this was one seriously bad experience! Stopped for fuel and a pee break en route to DE with the misses. Spacious, well lit fueling area. Plenty of pumps (Including diesel!), great price, and service supplies stocked (Squeegee, etc). Go inside and it's a different story. The bathrooms are tiny and dirty, but the attendant was johnny-on-the-spot for some women in need of TP. Royal Farms is known for their chicken. Generally fresh and tasty, and pretty consistent wherever you get it. Craving some sustenance, we ordered a 3 piece tender. Sitting down at their dine-in area was downright disgusting. ALL of the tables had breading from the chicken all over it. Some had food grease, some had mystery stickiness. While cleaning down a table enough for us both to eat, I counted as 6 house flies circled waiting to enjoy our lunch with us. Kinda gross, right? Digging in to our meal, the chicken was very dry-- as though it were under heat lamp for a very long time. Not impressed. The store was dirty. Though the staff was friendly and smiling, they did not seem to notice or care that things were unclean and/or in disarray. As much as it pains me to say something nice about Baltimore City-- EVERY Royal Farms in Baltimore seems cleaner than this one. When I make this drive again, I'll stop here for fuel, but I doubt it'll go any further than that. read more

Tell ya what, for a building that's only about 5 years old this place is a wreck. It's located in the one stoplight town of Greenwood which is also one of the busiest speed traps between Salisbury and Dover. Basically this place is good for gas and a quick soda and then keep going for "greener" pastures. The store is dirty, the bathrooms are filthy and you wouldn't catch me eating out of the deli. read more

This stop, unlike some, seems to only offer fried chicken in its food shop, hoped for other options. The standard for big gas/convenience marts has improved a lot, and some are offering a lot of food variety, which is really useful on a road trip.
