We called the store and explained the situation and were invited to bring our (partially eaten) order back in and retrieve the tiramisu that we never received. Upon returning, the owner had saved a tiramisu for us which was nice. She then asked us to give back one of our partially eaten tres leches cakes, which we thought was odd. We then watched her throw it directly in the garbage which seemed pointless to us instead of letting us keep it. Did she have a right to do that in order to make the exchange? Arguably yes. But did she miss an opportunity to extend goodwill, create a great service recovery and build some loyalty while correcting a mistake that was 100% her doing? Inarguably yes. Once we were finally able to try everything in its totality, the tres leches was okay and the tiramisu was slightly worse than that. Perhaps these are not the specialities for which Tertulia are known. The lemon white chocolate cookie was good, but the Cafe Bombon must be an acquired taste that my coffee aficionado spouse has not yet acquired because she did not have positive things to say.
