We live just over the road and were gutted to see the decline of a once special local eatery called Lalakash. The place sat empty for just over a year, leaving Lower Kingswood without a village pub. Then early this year, the Royal Gurkha rises from the ashes with a great blend of Nepalese and Indian cuisine at very reasonable prices. On top of that, they also do a mixture of traditional "pub lunch" food (jackets and sandwiches) in the pub (they've reverted the interior to 50/50 pub and restaurant).
Special offers on Wednesday and Sunday of 4 dishes for £10 have seen some turned away recently it's gone down that well and they received a 4star review from the local papers food critic last month.
Always friendly and courteous on greeting and serving guests, Sunil, Suraj and the rest of the staff are running this family business in the heart of a small village in exactly the right way. Long may it continue (and not just because they've given me my local pub back!!)
