When I called your company this morning, I was met by a man with a belligerent tone and told my request wasn't worth his time. When I tried to explain my situation (an irresponsible driver hit my lawn and took out a tree and three shrubs) I was rudely interrupted and told, "you're just looking money. I'm going to say a hard pass on your request," and hung up on me. Unprofessional and repugnant behavior. Do better BJ Tree Service and train people how to triage a call. The estimator came at the appointed time, walked the property with us and made note of what we wanted. The estimate was provided via text & email before he pulled out of our driveway. Accepting the estimate and paying the deposit couldn't have been easier. The 4 guys who came to do the work shortly thereafter walked the property with us and were careful to understand exactly what we wanted. They were knowledgeable and professional. Everything was done as we wanted, and they checked in with us during the process to make sure we were satisfied. They cleaned everything up well. I am very pleased with his, his brother and his teams work. They were very professional and worked quickly. I asked him to also trim a tree in my back yard. He did an excellent job on that tree. Let me begin by saying that if I could give five negative stars to 31 Excavating, I would…read more I had them come out and dig a hole beside my house to make a new leach bed. While the representative (Chris, who may be the owner) who was running the excavator postponed on digging the hole twice. Which was fine, I had no real problem with that at the time. But filling the hole back in is another story. This guy postponed filling in the hole six times. He kept saying he's busy meanwhile I already paid him $1000 to dig the hole. I paid cash and upfront (Lesson learned) because he was recommended by someone else I knew. I also explained to him that I was having siding put on my house today and I needed the hole filled in by yesterday so that the siding guys can put their scaffolding up without a problem. Then he calls me last night and tells me I need to quit texting him and he was a real jerk about it. So to be completely transparent, I lost it on the guy. I called him every name in the book and he was throwing insults back at me. Meanwhile, let me remind everyone, I'm the customer. So to make a longer story short do not use this company. Obviously this company's representative (Chris) is incompetent, unprofessional and had a very low work ethic.

They gave us a fair bid for the job and then completed it on schedule. They needed to go onto our neighbors' property to get the job done safely, and they did an excellent job communicating with the neighbors. They came back several weeks later to grind out the stumps. Another tree service said they couldn't get their stump grinder down our narrow driveway to the backyard. But Carl's had no problem, and they left the yard in great shape with the giant stumps all gone. They had to take down the fence and put it back up again, and they took care with that, leaving the fence in great shape.
