We had a wonderful tree company who understood want we wanted and preserved it. I also spent those years shaping a small tree near the locust in front so it had a flow toward the sidwalk. With the owner retiring and moving from Pgh I needed someone equally sensitive to tend to our trees. A while ago I saw Don Mason doing work for one of the fancy houses up the street. I asked him for an estimate and told him what we wanted. He said he understood perfectly. His estimate seemed reasonable. A few weeks ago he and his crew came. I greeted him and left him to his work. I was still on the first floor when I saw this huge nexus of limbs and foliage drop. I dashed out and saw the damage. I reminded him about keeping all of that. He looked at our front and said something like "I see", followed by "my bad". He left the stump of what remained saying locusts grow quickly. He was supposed to trim the smaller tree to the shape I'd created, but left suckers sticking up here and there. I let him work in the back, but found he didn't take out all the dead wood. Then he had the additional gall to send us a huge bill. in 5 minutes, he effectlively ruined 30 years of keeping our property and house enjoyable. When we come home now it's like a punch in the gut. The front looks crummy. And so do the views from the within our house. On top of that, our bedroom in the front no longer has shade, so the sun comes blazing in and the heat is now so high we have to have the A/C on longer and more frequently. If I could give minus stars I would.

They are in my neighborhood what seems to be daily. They were in my backyard a handful of times…read morethis summer. They're hired by Duquesne Light to cut down trees and branches around the utility wires. We got a door flyer early in the summer saying they would be doing work soon but the "soon" should definitely not be taken figuratively. They showed up weeks later in our backyard and just begin cutting. I wish there was some kind of better notice or heads up, but there isn't. So they ended up cutting down three very large trees and left the massive logs just sitting in high piles in our yard. Twice this happened in the summer and then late fall. There was no way we were able to do anything with these logs. They had to have weighed a ton and we didn't have any tools that would have handled cutting them. They needed to be cut with professional tools. So I called Duquesne light and talked with a customer service rep who said the manager of the tree division would call me back. Weeks went by and nothing happened. I called again and was told someone would call me back again. I wasn't holding my breath. Then a few days later a whole crew showed up at my door and told me they wouldn't take away the logs but could cut them for us to use for firewood. This was actually perfect because we do, in fact, have a log burning fireplace and we never ordered wood this year. They spent the whole morning basically halving them then came to the door and asked if that was okay. We were like... ummm no way those halves could be used for firewood. Not sure if they intended for us to get to work cutting them down more if what but they were still massive. We asked if they could cut more, because they were too large and the guy was like ooookay. I'm sure it's not how they intended to spend their whole day but I am SUPER SUPER SUPER appreciative and we ended up lucking out with so much new firewood. I'm not sure why this wasn't done in the first place when they initially cut down the logs, but I suppose someone just dropped the ball. FYI they will not do anything with trees that fall down from storms or natural causes, they did tell me that. But apparently from what happened it is their responsibility to cut it into useable firewood pieces. I'm not giving five star just because those logs sat there for months without any action or calls back. Plus, they threw some of the logs on one of my bushes and killed it :( But again, super thankful they rectified it!

Gary Jr was…read moreextremely professional and honest when he showed up to give me a price on some tree cutting and stump grinding. He held to that price once that work was done. He showed up at 8:30am promptly the day we discussed and starting working. He quickly scaled the tree, cutting limbs as he went, until the tree looked like a stick. Then, he proceeded to come down the tree, cutting the tree down log by log. All in all, he cut down 3 trees and removed the brush from the property, leaving the logs in roughly 5-6hrs total (counted a short break and the him having to go get the wood chipper). I highly recommend this company because of professionalism and value! He is just starting out, but will definitely use him again!

Brell's All Pro Tree Service did a fantastic job. Shawn promised to cut the tree down, remove the stump and cut out all the roots in the yard. Perkins Tree Service prunes trees, removes trees, and grinds stumps. I have used this business…read moretwice--once to remove my backyard neighbor's tree (yes...) and once to remove four of my trees. In 2021, my backyard neighbor had a tall, dead tree that was near our property line and was very hazardous for several years. On a Friday, I contacted Perkins Tree Service to get an estimate. The owner Tom said that he would arrive for the estimate on a Saturday afternoon. On Saturday, he did NOT show up, so I contacted him, and he changed the appointment to a Sunday morning. On Sunday, Tom gave me an estimate of $875 plus $75 for grinding the stump. He said that he would be available to do the work on Tuesday morning--a wait of only two days! On the Tuesday, four workers from Perkins spent about one hour cutting down the tree. They used ropes and a chainsaw to remove the several large branches and a grinder to remove the stump. They did not damage the nearby fences or any other structures. In 2022, for my four trees, I contacted Tom on a Friday to get an estimate, and he said that he would give an estimate on Saturday or Sunday. He actually came out on Tuesday, and he gave an estimate of $500 to remove four ornamental trees and to grind their stumps. This current job was small, so Tom said that he would not make an appointment for it but would rather fit it in whenever he could in the next 1-2 weeks. Several days later, his crew removed the four trees. They did a very good job, so that only mulch was left behind. They cleaned up debris with a rake, leaf blower, and trash can. I deducted one star from my review because Perkins stood me up twice for estimates and because in 2023, I contacted Perkins again, but they never responded. Furthermore, my next-door neighbor set up an appointment for an estimate with Perkins in 2022, and they did not show up, so he hired a different company.
