When spaying my puppy, Dr Raposo thoughtfully checked her teeth and extracted two impacted teeth without charging an additional dime because he did not want my puppy to have to potentially go under anesthesia again. That is incredible customer service! I can't say enough great things about this place. The staff are all wonderful. The dog did not recover and I had to manually express her bladder and she was shitting on herself. She was 5 years old. She would stare at me blankly in her pen. She was a shell and absolutely depressed. When I brought her in about a month after the surgery the vet tech and temporary vet who helped me euthanize my baby were making jokes and giggling that her tongue was hanging out from the euthanasia drugs. While I held her and cried. It was so surreally terrible. IT was unbelievable, so much so That i couldnt bring myself to even write a review because I was devastated. About a week or two i heard Dr. Abbott returned from her trip out of state and I spoke to her on the phone - I just explained what happened and cried. There was nothing anyone could do. This is the fault of her STAFF. and THE TEMPORARY VETS (Roo Relief?) Dr Abbott was not present during this. I do think it would have gone a lot differently if she was however, it is still her responsibility to train her staff for emergency situations and not completely rely on some dimwit temp vet from who knows where. My 18 year old dog had to be put down, and the whole process was made infinitely worse by the cold and distant attitude of the veterinarian Dr. Dew. When we arrived, my dog was peacefully sleeping, but the doctor chose to wake him up, which felt unnecessarily harsh, almost as if to confirm we weren't lying about his condition. From that moment on, he was in agony, moaning and crying throughout the procedure. What made it worse was that no one offered him any kind of anxiety medication or calming treatment, even though it was obvious he was distressed. He went from crying to lifeless in my arms, and the whole thing felt horrifying. I thought I was mentally prepared for this experience. But the reality of it was far worse than I ever could have anticipated. I can't help but feel like I betrayed my dog and that he suffered because I didn't advocate harder for his comfort. If I had known how much he would struggle, I would have gladly paid extra for any sedative or calming aid to make it easier for him. I truly hope he can forgive me, but I can't shake the feeling that I failed him in his final moments. This experience was not what I imagined it would be, and I just want to warn others to make sure they advocate for their pets' comfort, even if it means pushing for additional care.
