Those holding the Happy Shuttle sign notified the driver, who arrived w/in 10 minutes for our journey to our resort. Upon arrival, we chose a pick up time for our hotel pick up at the end of our vacation. Later, after thinking about it, I wanted an earlier time (just in case). I messaged them and they quickly responded and said changing the time was no problem. On the day of pick up, they arrived 10 minutes early and we got to the airport without any worries. Both trips, we had booked a private shuttle. Each time we had a nice van with more than enough room. Price was extremely reasonable as far as I was concerned. If we do ever go back to Cancun, I wouldn't hesitate booking them again.

Despite the hotel being only 7 minutes from the airport, they demanded an additional $65, claiming it was a "new service." This was unreasonable, especially since we were not asking for a separate trip, only a stop along the existing route--not to go to the airport first and then be taken to the hotel. The driver was not the issue at all--drivers are clearly restricted and monitored by GPS. The problem lies entirely with the reservation staff, who were rigid, unhelpful, and unwilling to offer any solution. They even claimed that no manager was available, which is both inexcusable and highly questionable during peak season. This was an overpriced, inflexible, and poorly managed service that added stress to an already difficult travel situation. I would not recommend this company to anyone expecting reasonable customer service or flexibility.

As you walk from customs to transportation, there's all kinds of people who pounce on you to sell taxi services to where you're going. They're quite aggressive about getting you a 'cheap' fare. I booked with Oscar online in advance, and got a good deal. Oscar was there, and he helped me load my bags into the van. I was the only passenger, and we were off immediately. Oscar followed all the traffic rules and made good conversation along the way. He's knowledgeable about Mexican hot sauces. He got me to my destination safely and cheaply and I got some good food suggestions while I was at it.

Our flight was delayed for about 4 hours but they handled our late arrival well. We had to wait about 15 minutes for our driver but he came and took us to our hotel with no problem. The only minor thing is that the "manager" (the guy who checks you in and gets a driver) tried to charge me more than what my paperwork said but we got it straightened out ok when he refunded the difference without a struggle, I would use this company again.

However, I gave three stars because my sister, who was on the same trip, did not have the same experience. She called to confirm her return transportation as well and was also told 9:30 a.m. While we were picked up without issue, she was left behind at the resort with my niece and nephew. She waited about ten minutes before trying to call Amstar, but no one ever answered. Had we known this would happen, we would have made sure they joined our van so they weren't stranded. I'm conflicted because our experience was great, but it's upsetting that my sister and her children were left behind after receiving confirmation. Just be aware that the experience seems to vary, and it may depend on the day.
