Ordered a small Royal Special. It came about 6 inches across like an individual pizza but I wanted it for 2 seniors so it seemed small. There were so many toppings it was at least packed 3 inches tall. Lots of toppings so many that it seemed doubled up and very meaty but u could taste the onion and peppers. Picking it up was problematic as the new LRT station has taken over the street 29th and u have to wait extra times before u can turn into the mall where it is located from the north. I doubled back and had to make a u turn. To avoid this enter the mall from the south side or from 60th just before this street. It is across from No Frills or Shoppers just behind Burger King then u r OK. Cost was just under $20 so I guess average price. So many recommendations for this place but I am still on the fence. There's a rumour that royal pizza has a spaghetti pizza, so when my kids got to pick the food option and chose pizza; this was a clear winner since it was close by and has the option for dine-in. The interior reminds me of a small mom & pop kinda venue. Simple, clean, a few TVs and small pictures of neighbourhood areas that my kids recognize...think of it as a small town restaurant. It's very family friendly, offering high chairs & having a change table. There's also coat hangers at the end of the booth tables. It's fairly quiet inside, but with steady amount of customers. Wait time for food is average, service isn't overly attentive, but it's friendly. We ordered a medium spaghetti pizza and it fed 1 adult and 2 kids with a few slices leftover. I have to say that both my kids really liked that pizza, I've never seen them eat that many slices and finish it in one sitting. At the end of the meal, kids are allowed to choose a small prize in a treasure chest that the server brings while you pay the bill; cheap dollar goodies, but a very special moment for the kids and I'm glad we tried this place out. At 7:00 on a Friday night with no line-up, my sister and I were seated at a small table for two even though I requested a larger table. Our waitress informed us that it was a Friday so we sat. With an opportunity to look around I saw at least three empty booths and several empty tables for 4, as well as at least four couples seated at booths/ tables. I was recently introduced to Royal Pizza and having never heard of it before I wasn't very excited about it. From what I know, it is a local pizza place that has a few locations throughout Edmonton. After trying the pizza I quickly became a fan. Some of the tastier pizza I have had in this city. It is pricier, probably because it is so good, but I am not convinced that it is THAT much better than some other places that they can charge higher. It's a gamble but one that is obviously paying off for the business. Another thing that impressed was that they don't hold back on toppings or cheese. They are very generous. Besides pizza they also offer other things on their menu, none that I have tried but I will list some of them anyways. They carry soup, a bunch of salads, garlic bread, different types of poutines, chicken wings, chicken fingers, fries and more. Oh and those are just appetizers. They also have pasta's, steaks, ribs, burgers.. that's all I can remember off the top of my head. When it comes to pizza too many people fall back on the popular names and rarely try to look for something new. I am guilty of it as well, but this is a must try. read more

Yes, that price differentiates it from the competitors by appearing as a high-end pizza place, but I'm not sure the huge price difference is worth me skipping another pizza joint just to eat here. I have never been disappointed when I have had takeout of delivery from here. The only unfortunate thing is the price. It is definitely more expensive than pizza hut or pizza 73... but for good reason! I always get the Royal Special pizza (ham, pepperoni, onion, green pepper, mushroom and black olive). But it is $15.50 for a small --yikes! They also have pasta, salads, appetizers, steaks and ribs. All Edmontonians should try Royal Pizza at some point in their lives. Super disappointed! This restaurant used to be great! It was our family go to! Since the owner isn't around (not sure if it was sold) and the staff changed it is awful. The last time we were there my mom had a $10 off and so did I from the Christmas promo "Buy $50 gift card and get a $10 special gift" the server informed us that it could only be used one per table. Even though we were paying separately and each had previously purchased our own $50 promo gift cards. The time before this the food was gross! Steak sandwich was more then 80% fat. Fettuccine had a pool of water in the bottom of the dish. This place has severely disappointed in the past year. read more

My husband raves about the pizza it was pretty good the pizza , I ordered a meal size Cesar salad it was soggy and I'm pretty sure it was ice burg lettuce as no one mentioned the substitution for lettuce due to the recall I figured it was going to romaine (didn't know recall was still effecting it ) it was 14.95 for half a head of lettuce like 10 mini croutons and fake dry shakable parmesan over priced and nasty salad , got 7 wings for 12.99 they were good but for the amount we got it was also not with it . Royal pizza at this location has one of the best pizzas in Edmonton. Filling, with good quality ingredients. It is not a "bistro" thin crust style but not stingy with the toppings! Terrible lasagne. It was mostly noodles with very little sauce making it most unenjoyable to eat. Very dry. The baked cheese on top was good. I had requested extra sauce but clearly the lasagnes are pre measured and pre made. I called the restaurant to advise them and was offered a 5.00 credit for 2 sauces. My husband drove back to the location and picked up the sauce. I told the girl on the phone not to worry about the additional gas money, not to mention his time. The price was $29.00 for 2 lasagnes. We went on Mother's Day at around 6:45 and ordered 2 large pizzas. The pizza was fantastic!! Everything tasted fresh and the quality was awesome. We also enjoyed 2 baskets of chicken wings. I feel I should take 24 hours before posting this, however I'm so completely stunned and upset at likely the worst server I've had the displeasure of meeting. Out with family, seated quickly, however upon meeting the "server" is where is went off the rails. We could not get more than 30 seconds without being asked abruptly "are you ready?" At the third ask the "server" was asked calmly "can we actually have a moment to read the menu?" Her reply was "oh, if I see menus closed I always ask" the retort was "well the menus are all open in front of everyone" - within 30-40 seconds again (menus open) asked firmly if we were ready yet... I mean do you not want us there? Had to get up and leave, never have I encountered a more inept server, I hope I never do. It's unfortunate, the food has been always great. Never again. read more

My husband and I went for appetizers today and had a great experience. The staff were excellent. Very friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was helpful and made great suggestions. The food is very tasty - yummy poutine and chicken wings. The atmosphere is also very welcoming. The ceilings have been lowered so it isn't as noisy as most restaurants. This review for me is heartbreaking to write. This used to be my favourite place for a calzone or meat lasagna when I'm on my way home. Today however I was out doing some running around with my wife, while I ran into Canadian Tire she said she would order for us. I thought great the timing is perfect and we'll be home in no time. Pretty simple order, meat calzone, chicken calzone with no onions and an order of chicken fingers. My wife was given the total and told it would take 30 minutes. Great after I get back to the truck I slowly drove over and waited outside. Sure didn't look busy compared to a normal Friday night. I go inside and pay and decide to wait. It surely can't be that long now considering it's been 20 minutes already. Sadly it was another 30 minutes of standing waiting while I watched numerous people come and go. A few even ordered after I stood there and yet their food still came out before mine! I guess it was a good thing that my wife got sick of waiting in the truck that she came in at perfect time. I was just short of snapping! All this and I was told there would be a $20 credit on my file. I watched a guy not have his olives cooked on his pizza but added after and yet he got his whole pizza for free... FREE! For bloody nothing! Out of all this the calzone sucked! My wife's chicken calzone had onions on it and the girl who is the front of house manager was my favourite server from before. The only reason there is 1 star is because deep down I still like her and think she does a hell of a job. The kitchen staff was nothing short of pathetic for such a garbage performance. The hostess girl ran around clueless and honestly served zero purpose while I stood in that same spot for over a half hour. Not sure if I can lower my standards after today to try them again. Next time I crave a calzone or pizza I'll head over to Papa Murphy's. Best part of my excursion was I found the Granville Island Winter Ale that I originally left the house for! The south side (Blue Quill) location has messed up our pizza 3 times in a row now. They forgot our fresh tomato and when I called them they just offers to drive the tomato over (pizza would be cold by then) or a $5 credit on our next order ("three times the value of the tomato" I was told). Actually, that'd be two as I never got the tomato the first time. And $5? On $40 worth of pizza? Forget it. The lady, who I know is the manager because I've complained to her before, didn't seem to care that I turned the offer down as well as future business. They always forget the credit from before anyways. Three strikes your are out. I give 2 stars because the pizza is tasty but it's overpriced and not reliable service. read more

Royaly Rude off ellerslie was our 'go to' pizza place until the last experience with their managers deterred us for a long time. We ordered two medium pizzas and coke, came to 45.00 plus tip. The pizzas were both terribly made. Hardly any cheese with holes to the extra thick Dow that had no flavour. The toppings were ok but the sauce nearly invisible. Normally when something like this happens I bring it to a manager so they can offer a solution. The first manager I spoke to the following day offered us a 10.00 credit which I declined as our order was 50.00 after extra charges. She then told me she was placing a credit for both pizzas onto our account, which I clairifies before ending the call. That was two weeks ago. When I called last night they told me I had 10.00 credit and that they would call me back after speaking with the manager who had applied this. They did not call me back. I caller again this morning to follow up and was told the girl didn't end up coming to work last night due to car troubles. She then had another fairly rude manager call me to tell me I'm basically lying about the whole thing. Not sure who is actually in charge over at that location but they could use a customer service course! Won't return for a long time! Very disappointed! If your going To charge royal prices, perhaps should hire some staff too match. read more

Very good pizza but the donair I had there a few years ago was the worst ever! I think the meat was probably bought from the Safeway deli. The taste and texture was bad enough that I felt compelled to go back after a week to comment and ask for a credit. Therefore my advice is: *Donair (*don't ever) order a donair *der (*there). So disappointed. Ordered pizza at 5:55pm. Call at 6:58 to inquire about where pizza is. Was told that it was out for delivery. 25 minutes later I call and was told the same thing, out for delivery. Wth. I tell the lady that I'm not longer interested in getting the cold pizza. She speaks to manager who says to her to tell me that my choices are "take the cold pizza and pay" or cancel and owe the same money because they made the pizza. I'm shocked that that's what I'm offered for choices. Ask to talk to manager myself. After a few minutes (now over 30minutes out for delivery) the manager gets on the phone. I ask her to explain those choices to me again and she says that she just called the delivery driver herself and cancelled. I get upset and hang up. This is one of our favorite restaurants. I don't understand anyone complaining about the prices because the food is excellent and much less expensive than Boston pizza. Good quality ingredients. I love the pasta and pizza myself. My daughter loves their calzones and my mom loves the steak sandwich. It's thin but tasty. It's a nice casual, family orientated restaurant. The only thing that could be better would be some other choices on the menu and drinks but if it's not broke, don't fix it I guess! read more

Royal Pizza Blue Quill - Do Not Go Here Pizza - I was having company for a hockey party, we ordered pizza, had many times before, the pizza arrived burnt beyond recognition. I called to complain, I was civil and polite at first, the young girl on the phone cut me off and told me that is how I ordered it, when I tried to explain that is not well done, she had attitude so I said thank you and hung up. I drove to the store to show them the pizza, when I got there I was verbally attacked by a young woman (the one on the phone) and another young male, they came flying around the counter accusing me of being rude on the phone, the owner just cowered behind the counter while she counted out my money, not once did the owner say to them to back off or leave it alone, when I told them I was surprised that they were still in business, they laughed at me and said they didn't need me for business.
