This place was busy when we arrived. Which is a good sign. We were able to get a table when we walked in, the restaurant was also busy. It's got an old-school pizza location vibe. It was clean and they had the playoffs on for everyone to watch. We ordered the Dallas special pizza (w/o ground beef, I'm not a fan) and their Greek salad. The Greek salad was delicious. I have been visiting Dallas Steak and Pizza ever since my high-school days at McNally HS. The food was always amazing, and the pizza to die for.The last two times one visit and one delivery the pizzas were burnt, the last visit the pizza was so burnt you couldn't cut the crust with the butter knife supplied, and again last night we ordered delivery, took an hour and a half and both pizzas were burnt. Not sure if it's a new cook, or if the oven is too hot, but this is not normal for Dallas. Hopefully they get this issue sorted. When we had the second last pizza, we were eating in, we didn't complain because we were there during closing time, so we didn't want to make anyone stay longer, but now with last night's order, there is obviously an issue. I wouldn't say to avoid this place, as the food is usually extremely good. read more

i would never recommend this pizza place. We called to place a delivery order we asked when we could expect delivery 45 min to one hour. We called at 80 minutes and was told should be any minute. I've been here a few times now, as it's really close to home and reminds me of a pizza place I used to go to as a kid. It would be so nice to have a pizza place close to home that is fun to go to as a family. Unfortunately, while the pizza is good, the service is so bad. We went tonight as it had been a busy day and figured we would stop for pizza on the way to the kids' swimming lessons. I knew 45 minutes was pushing it, but hoped we could eat fast. When we arrived the waitress seemed unhappy that we were there. She is not friendly. She has served us before so I knew what to expect. I ordered a Sprite for my kid and when she brought it she let me know refills were not free. That's fine, but I didn't ask for a refill. We ordered and then waited for the food. After 30 minutes I realized we were not going to make it to swimming lessons in time. I knew this might be a possibility, but was overly optimistic we could make it happen. I asked if we could get the order to go, not thinking it would be an issue. She let me know that next time, she was going to have to charge me $11.25 for the kids meal as they don't do kids meals for $7.25 as take out. Then she told me the food was not ready yet. I paid for the food. Then decided we had better go - at that point I felt like I didn't want the food anymore. I felt like our presence there was absolutely not wanted. I got the not so subtle hint by the threats of extra charges and unfriendly nature of the server. As I was getting the kids in the car to go, she opened the door and handed out the food. I was frustrated at that point and said thanks and took the food and left. It was a bad day. I figured a pizza for dinner would make the day easier, but it actually made it worse. It's not hard to be friendly and smile and make your customers feel welcome. I'm pretty easy to please and I'm not overly picky - so for me to leave a bad review means something. So I haven't yet tried the famous pizza of Dallas, but I don't have much interest in doing so based on my experience of the other food. I think I know what I'll get, and it doesn't hold much appeal to me. Dallas Pizza and Steakhouse is part of a dying (in the urban setting anyhow) breed of ubiquitous restaurants I can only describe as small-town Alberta. Or maybe rural-prairie, because they're all over Saskatchewan too, and Interior B.C. We had a place just like this in my own small hometown, run by a Lebanese family who were my neighbours. Dallas is run by a Greek family. Clean and run with pride, good for a fancy night out with grandma. It's a working-man's style pizza and steak joint, which is to say very Western style with huge portions, heavy dressing and lots of meat and cheese. Better than a greasy spoon in that it's clean and not totally cheap, but kind of akin to an Albert's with better seats and upholstery. Faux stained glass between booths, big curtains, printed wallpaper - you get the picture. I was not that hungry so I just had French onion soup. Pretty watery and tasteless, not that surprising. My bf had a lasagne which was a step above Chef Boyardee in quality and taste (i.e. - teeny bits of suspiciously textureless meat drowned in an oddly sweet tomato sauce) and unbelievably drowned in cheese. Food to have a coronary to (or a Corona! More on that later...). We shared a regular size Greek salad that was Greek salad with a lot of lettuce, not the amount of veg one might like - again very small town Western. Tons of dressing drowning what must have been an entire head of iceberg lettuce. It was huge - the server commented that it was smaller than usual. Lots of feta, and more than one legit kalmata olive - not cheaped out, very appreciated. The best beer they had available was Corona. The server was not very attentive, she sat in a booth folding pizza boxes most of the time, and didn't offer water refills or another beer for quite some time. Service was slow. Not dirty, not lousy, but not good old-school food with below average service = meh. I'm not keen to try it again. Maybe if someone else pays and I can bring my own beer. read more

I have eaten in house, service was great, it is family run and has been since I returned to Edmonton 24 years ago, and before that, I believe. By great service, I mean servers are perceptive, not in your face, but allow the grace to eat and be served on the terms of whatever brought you there to dine together or even alone. However, I will say that if you are looking for a perfectly crisp, darkened, dough bottom which leads into a chewy, cooked yet forgiving crust when you bite into it, with a sauce that is not heavy with any particular Basil, Tarragon, Thyme, savoury, or Sage flavouring: but is instead an almost nothingness of all of those flavourings because they all blend so perfectly into one tomato pizza sauce which is its own, then you found the right place. They serve a thicker crust, so it it isn't dry or flour-y. They load on the toppings and allow the cheese to bake and forge the flavours together. My family has been ordering take-out from here for the the last 24 years. We order and pick-up but have rarely waited more than a few minutes, their timing is impeccable. We tip them every time on take-outs because we have never been disappointed in 24 years, which is more than many relationships last. Enjoy, life is short. read more

Good food but really crappy bordering on obnoxious service here. The one lady is nice but the smaller one is practically hostile when you come in. EVEN when I tipped on a pick up order. The smaller one didn't even say "thank you". I tried ordering a nooner pizza at 12:01 pm only to be told by the hostile one " we are OUT of nooner pizzas ! You can order something else on the menu !" I have been eating at Dallas Pizza for 20 + years and the pizza has usually been very good and service at times can be slow. The last time , I went with a friend for dinner, the service was terrible bordering on rude and we should have just got up and left...but we were hungry, I was embarrassed that I brought a friend to the restaurant for dinner. When the pizza arrived it was soggy in the bottom, we ate what we could and threw out the leftovers. Unfortunately, I will never return. I went back to Dallas Pizza & Steak House yesterday and this time I opted for takeout pizza. Gotta say, probably one of the best pizzas I've had in a long time. They have a few signature pizzas and build your own (obvz), but I went for the Greek Pizza. Olives, onions, fresh tomatoes, green peppers and feta cheese. I placed the order then went back 30 mins later to collect it. The lady who served me was lovely! She was super friendly and even gave my daughter a lollipop and a colouring sheet to take home. I told her I recently moved nearby and she gave me a menu to keep, I had no idea they also do deliveries! Great to know. Looking at the menu... it's a lot more than just pizza and steak, there's salads, pastas, donairs and burgers. I haven't veered from steak and pizza as of yet. But happy to know I can get a steak dinner delivered to my door ;) Back to my pizza.... I got a large for three of us to share and it was enormous. It is more like a deep dish pizza, all those toppings stashed under the delicious cheese! You can't pick any toppings off, which could be an issue for kids or picky eaters. Because the toppings were hidden, my daughter ate it all, including the olives! Even the base sauce was rich and flavourful. I can't fault it. We came here recently for dinner and it was a nice homey place. We shared a large pizza and added pineapple as an extra topping which was wonderful: we were impressed by how much pineapple they added to our pizza which made me really pleased as a patron. This location has high chairs available and the restrooms are small but functional. Staff were really helpful also. We'll definitely be back at some point when we want such deep pizza with lots of toppings and will keep this place in mind for takeout/delivery as well. I'm also curious about the rest of the menu. read more

My grumpy old Dad refused to eat pizza and hated when us kids ate pizza because apparently he thinks its garbage food in his opinion but after giving him no other food option presented him with an extra large Ham & Pineapple from Dallas. What happened? Boy did his tune change and for years now when he comes to visit, he only wants pizza from Dallas. Amazing pizza- can't be beat in my opinion. Is a bit more pricey, but it's a family owned restaurant, so you gotta expect its more expensive than a chain restaurant! The servers are nice, a lot of them have been there for years. We don't often order from Dallas, but it certainly is a treat when we do. We also get some kind of pizza and are never disappointed with the results. In closing- I suggest this pizza to all of my friends and consider it the best pizza in the city, by far! read more

I have had pizza dating back to the 90s and the pizza never disappoints the homemade sauce is amazing and I don't know where they get pepperoni from but it's in big slices so there is some in every bite. I don't usually eat at the restaurant as it is a polish atmosphere but when I do the food well makes up for it. Never actually had anything other than pizza. read more

I would put Dallas Pizza and Steakhouse firmly in the "hidden gem" category. It's a little off the beaten track but more than makes up for it with the food. I've been there a couple of times now, the first time was a lunch time visit where I had a pizza - delicious! I had the BBQ chicken. The second visit was for dinner (a bit of an on a whim visit whilst driving past) - I ordered the New York steak. This came exactly as ordered, medium rare. The baked potato on the side was cooked just the way I like it. The salad was fresh and crunchy. So in short, pizza good, steak great. Price is decent. If you're after fancy decor, this isn't the place for you, but like I said earlier, the food more than makes up for it. Keep up the good work guys!! read more

What can I say other then this place has great pizza. It's my neighborhood steak and pizza joint and has been a family favorite probably for 30 years. Yes the pizzas are smaller compared to other pizza places and yes they're a much higher cost of other pizza places but it's family run, homemade with great ingredients. I first had this pizza when I was growing up in Edmonton. An Aunt of mine lives a block from here and the last time I would have had it would have been in my late teens before I left Edmonton. After a 26 year absence, I moved back here in 2012 and was surprised to see that this place was still around given the often high turn over rate in restaurants. It had been on the 'must try' list for a while and I finally went there this week. Went with a friend and we ordered a pizza since that was the whole point of the visit. i wasn't sure whether the two of us should order a large or an extra large but hey, it's pizza and leftovers just means that you have something for breakfast or lunch the next day without cooking. We ended up ordering an extra large all meat pizza. The pizza was good. This is not your purist Naples style traditional pizza, but a more traditional "Canadian" style pizza with a thicker, doughy yet light crust. Meat toppings were generous as well as the cheese. Pizza was not cut into the standard triangular shaped wedges but into squares which my dining companion likes because for whatever reason, he enjoys the "corner" parts which are mostly crust. Only down side is their sauce which needs a bit of something to give it some zip but that's a pretty minor complaint. Didn't detract from the overall pizza, just not quite spicy enough for my tastes. Overall, a good pizza that was worth the trip. And obviously the reason why they are still around after 25+ years. read more

Wonderful. I chose that as the first word when I bit into the fresh baked handmade pizza. Had this for lunch @ the office. We called and ordered for pick-up. Half hour later, we had a Dallas Special Pizza fresh out of the oven (FOOO) and it was wonderful :) My co-workers wolfed it down and I managed to taste 3 pieces of the pizza :) It was almost too hot to eat at first, good, and the right amount of "CHEESE TO TOPPING RATIO." Was looking forward in trying their pizza as my parents used to go occasionally and spoke well of it. Ordered a X large Beef Onion with fresh tomatoes pizza. This place is very close to where I live and very tasty as well. It has been around forever and it still crowds gather. Their prices are fair and the food is always tasty. Pizza is always fresh and delicious. They have some fantastic creations as well. If you are a gravy fan- this is the best place for it! This is place is on the way home from work, so we go often. I almost always have pizza because it is the only non-thin crust pizza I actually like. In fact, the donair pizza with homemade tzatziki sauce is very good. Have tried other things like the steak sandwich which was good and my son likes the baked pizza sandwich. If a Reuben sandwich is the special, order it and enjoy. What sets this place apart from the chains is the great staff. Always friendly, sometimes a little cheeky (which for me is a good thing) and the consistent, quality food. read more

I was introduced to Dallas pizza by a few coworkers because it was close to our office and while everyone at my office seems to love Dallas pizza, I unfortunately don't so much. It's not even that there's anything particularly wrong with the food or the pizza. I just don't love it the way other people seem to. I've tried a couple of things off of the menu (pizza, salad and pasta) but I just don't think it's anything special and I'm never left thinking "good God that was delicious!" The restaurant and whole experience in and of itself also isn't magnificent. I have always found the service to be kind of slow and the staff to be less than pleasurable. They've never been rude or mean but they also don't come off as warm and inviting either. The decor is kind of old and looks like a restaurant from the 1980's and I'm not sure how often things get cleaned. For example, they store their high chairs by the bathrooms and I noticed the trays had a bunch of dead bugs on them. Like I said from the start, a lot of people seem to really like Dallas pizza but it just doesn't really float my boat I guess. I guess it's probably worth a try to formulate your own decision though. read more

Disclaimer : I have never actually ate in the restaurant, I have only gotten take out. I have had to wait in the restaurant though and it has a very 80's small town vibe going on. Now my partner LOVES the pizza here. And it is good. A ton of cheese and a zesty sauce. The crust has a great crunch and they cut it in squares so there are some delicious corner crunchy pieces. I have noticed that the quality of the pizza has gone down this past year. My partner wants to eat this pizza at least every few months so I have seen this first hand. Last weekend we got a pepperoni and mushroom pizza (to go). It was OK, but what really turned me off were the mushrooms. It was like an entire layer about a millimeter thick of canned mushrooms all over the entire pizza under the cheese. It sogged the whole pizza down. This would possibly be different if we ate it in the restaurant. In short : way better than pizza Hut or pizza 73 but there are so many better pizza places in Edmonton. read more

Maybe it was me... This review may be biased...as I left before eating. I arrived at Dallas with my kids looking forward to something new. Upon entering I was pleasantly surprised by how busy (albeit small) the place was which indicated they have a following. After standing inside thd door for a few moments, we were greeted by a slightly surprised looking woman. Upon concluding it was just the three of us...she invited us to "take a seat"... And so it began. Now I admit. I heard her follow this invitation up with "at any table for 4". Alas...my 9 year old and 5 year old did not, and while I went to get my own booster seat (which the waitress pointed at when I asked if they had any) my kids settled in to the only booth I saw which happened to be...I believe..a table for 6. As i brought my own booster to the table my kids had chosen, the last thing I was worried about was the...server's..."table for 4 comment. I was in a rush and eager to order. As my kids settled in, one server came over and remarked on the need to change seats. I kind of ignored her to be honest as my daughter began to hand out our cutlery. She wandered away mumbling. Another woman approached us and told me point blank that we would have to move as this was their only "large" table. I had had enough. I remarked that we would be happy to move right out the door. The response from the employee was something to the effect of a snide "have a nice night". Just not impressed. Perhaps the food is good. But in my opinion, if you can't be bothered to show me to my seat, or grab me a booster when I request one, then you can live with me sitting where my children choose. If you want to do your job as a server...and seat me and...well...wait on me...then I am all yours, and so is my money. Too bad. I had such high hopes. read more
