Royal Rib House boasts some of the best soul food not only in Bed Stuy, but in all of Brooklyn. Prices are more than reasonable, given the portion you receive. As enjoyable and unique as the ribs are (tender, but with a slightly crisp exterior), it's hard to pass on the fried chicken, which is juicy and flavorful. A The chopped bbq, which is literally chopped before your eyes, will feed you for days. The sides are average, although I highly recommend the yams. Desert is also a must, be it peach cobbler or warm banana pudding. Both are heavenly and homemade. Some patrons may grow tired of the sometimes-excessive wait (first to order, then for your food), but that's part of this neighborhood experience. Take time to chat with your neighbors, you'll learn and appreciate something new each visit. General Manager Jason Barnett and his staff always greet with a smile and warm welcome, erasing any frustrations the long lines may have caused. My god, they've got the most wonderful sauce, I swear they put crack in it! The chicken and ribs are basic, everything comes down to the secret sauce. The potato salad is nothing short of amazing, on a Saturday the line can easily be right outside of the door. Very good ribs and chicken I really liked the Peach Cobbler. The Mac N' Cheese was good not great. I was lucky the night I went because there was no line. I am definitely going to buy a bottle of their BBQ sauce. The draw back is they are only open from Thursday to Saturday or Sunday and the long lines. read more

So I was at a event that was catered by this company and I literally had to jump on here to get their information (I will be doing business with them) & to really support this small business because the FOOD WAS HEAVENLY...DO YOU HEAR ME!??...HEAVENLY. RIBS: Now, there's rules, levels to BBQ. Now this is a vinegar based wet rub which is DELICIOUS. The meat was super moist and fell right off the bone just how I like it. SIDES: Everything was delicious. No complaints about the mac n cheese. Let the record show that I have really high standards for mac n cheese and they definitely passed. It literally reminded me of when I used to eat my friends great grandmothers mac n cheese (RIP). Now...I don't know if this was a special thing because i checked and definitely didn't see it on their menu. This restaurant just gave me the feel goods as soon as I arrived. It's been around for years and you could tell by the way patrons knew the names of employees and also how the employees knew customers names in return. Like I said good good vibes and to to it off, the food was everything. I never doubted that the food would be delicious because as I mentioned this establishment has been around for like ever. My husband was in the mood for peach cobbler and ribs, so he said we had to go to this spot. We got there and there was a line wrapped around inside the small place to the door. After an hour wait, we got rotisserie ribs with sauce on the side (meaty, tender but no flavor...need sauce to eat), potato salad (flavorful but watery), collard greens (delicious) and peach cobbler (yummy). I've been going here for years. It's awesome food is worth standing on the sometimes long line . From the ribs to the cornbread you can't go wrong. I wish they were open more than just 3 days but it seems to work for them . The sauce on the ribs is amazing the meat just falls off the bones . The greens are flavorful & juicy . I always get extra cornbread because it's so good. And now ROYAL RIBS IS OFFICIALLY CLOSED FOR GOOD . So sad to see them go !! read more

I ordered by phone and came to pick up in person. I was expecting a line out the door based on the yelp reviews here but it was surprisingly not crowded. I was told my order was ready before I got there however, on the way there I decided to add to my order which took about a 10- 15 minute wait after I ordered. I ordered one peach cobbler,two rib dinners with Mac and cheese with candied yams and one bbq chicken with collard green and candied yams. All came with a side of cornbread. The ribs were seasoned and the bbq sauce gave it a nice touch. The bbq sauce is mustard based. It was my first time trying so it gave it a kick. The Mac and cheese needed more salt. It was rather bland. The candied yams were really good and the cornbread was good as well the peach cobbler was good upon eating the first bite. Having it out and sitting out as I finished my meal it suddenly ate a bit dry and clunky. All in all I love the atmosphere of this restaurant. It's straight to the point cooking, no frills. I went to the Royal Rib House today (5/24/18). I ordered a fish sandwich only. When I received my order, the bag felt very lite. I opened it to see 3 small strips of fish. No bread. No tartar sauce. No hot sauce. I asked what happened to the bread and if fish come with the sandwich? The price wasn't expensive for a fish sandwich, but it was for the amount of fish that they serve. It wasn't much more than an appetizer, if that. The food at the Royal Rib House is usually good, but the prices are too high for food that they serve and they ALWAYS forget to complete your whole order. They repay the order to you, but don't put it in the bag. They've cut back on the portion and raised the price. This will be the last time I buy food from them read more

The food here is great, and they give you a lot of it. This place has a long history in the neighborhood, and they are very well known. I live a couple of blocks away, so I find myself here every couple of months or so. Be prepared to wait a long time, especially if you haven't ordered in advance. Even when you do order in advance, there's a chance you'll still have to wait much longer than expected, this has happened to me a few times. 99% of the time, I order the Beef Short Ribs (I don't eat pork). They are amazing. I don't know what they put in the sauce, but it is liquid crack. I also like to order the chicken wings, which are good although sometimes they don't have them available. The sides are good as well. Mac and cheese, collard greens, yams...the usual soul food stuff. If you're looking for something sweet, they make some of the best peach cobbler that I've had. I've also tried the baked chicken and fried fish, which were also pretty good, but nothing to back-flip about. Oh...and the blueberry corn bread is amazing as well. If you don't have patience, you're not going to like this place. As I mentioned earlier, the line can get ridiculously long. My other issue is sometimes the cooks are inconsistent. For instance, one day I'll go in and the food will be heavenly...and the next time it will just be...alright. This is the type of thing that will usually turn me away from a place, but I have to say most of the time they are on point. They are also only open Thursday-Saturday, which kinda sucks. If you are a fan of soul food and want a taste of BedStuy's history, stop playing and go to Royal Rib House ASAP. read more

Today I ordered BBQ ribs with macaroni and cheese and candied yams. I was a bit disappointed because my ribs were a bit tough when I was chewing them. Usually when I eat ribs, the meat is soft and falls off the bone. I recommend this restaurant improves on how they make ribs. Anyway, the food is absolutely the very best soul food in Brooklyn. I've tried everything on the menu and there's no complaints from me. My go to is the BBQ ribs, peas and rice and collard greens. The other sides are equally scrumptious. I wish there was a seating area or bigger restaurant because sometime I just want to sit and enjoy the food while it's hot and freshly prepared. By the time I arrive home and wait to park my food is warm. But it's still edible and I enjoy every mouth full.
