Brooklyn stays undefeated. Went to David's Brisket House -- a Jewish deli run by Yemeni Muslims in the middle of an Afro-Caribbean neighborhood. If that's not the most Brooklyn thing ever, I don't know what is. Same sandwiches, different blessing. Everybody says order the pastrami, so I listened like a grown man should. Pastrami on rye with spicy mustard absolutely slapped. Smoky, juicy, perfectly stacked, and messy enough to ruin your shirt with honor. Then came the beef brisket on rye with a cup of au jus for dipping... and brother, that dip should be studied by scientists. Pure perfection. Washed everything down with a Dr. Brown's root beer like it was 1957. No fake trendy nonsense. No deconstructed sandwiches. Just old-school deli greatness that punches you directly in the soul. Wowowowowowow! Wow. I'm floored. I don't normally ever like brisket (which as an American is weird, I know!) by God did I love this place! The bread is sweet and tasty too. Our combination (we got the triple combo sandwich!) came with a side of au jus and our choice of condiments. Their Mayo is really good. Tastes like kewpie Mayo which is the best Mayo on planet Earth. Service was friendly, kind, and fast too. We got our sandwich within 5-7 minutes of ordering. They've got ample seating and weren't busy on a Wednesday evening. David's was quite the experience! Pastrami, corned beef, and brisket are already on my top 10 list of meats I love but all 3 here... absolutely amazing. This is officially my spot to get my fix!!! I once read a review that said that their meat was dry here... I didn't experience that at all. Everything was juicy and remained traditional to pass down David's legacy! Walking in, you're surrounded by history -- photos and news articles... all that prove that this establishment has been around since the 60s. Most people, who crave aesthetically pleasing places, would be bothered by how vintage it looks inside. But I loved it. Sticks to the true essence of Brooklyn honestly. My sandwich had me full from 11 AM until 8 PM... that's quality!!! The meat is made fresh every day, seasoned traditionally, and served with lots of love. The potato knish is soooo classic and sooo good. I ended up putting some of my pastrami in it and I can see why that's on the menu... those flavors together work so well. I love this place, but I don't get there that often because it's hard for me to get to and except on Sundays, it's hard to park. I think their food is really superb and compared to other "sort of Jewish style" delis is quite reasonably priced. They also fairly price sodas, which most delis completely rip you off on. I usually get a pastrami/brisket combo and I love that they give you some au jus to dip the brisket. The interior of the place isn't all that great- it's small and kind of dark, but that's really not a big deal. If I lived closer or if it was right on my subway line, I'd definitely be eating there multiple times per week. Fantastic, independently owned places like this are harder and harder to find today in our fast food chain world. Why people would eat junk fast food on that same block when this exists is beyond my comprehension, other than they've been brainwashed by advertising. read more

I ordered this via delivery, so can't speak to the actual restaurant or service, but the food was great! I decided to try something new, since I was in Brooklyn, and I feel like deli sandwiches and New York are a must! I ordered a pastrami and corned beef on a roll with condiments on the side, since I'd be eating it several hours later. The sandwich was a a good size, tons of meat, and price was pretty standard. Both of the meats were very tasty, but I think I preferred the corned beef over the pastrami. Would prefer both again in a heartbeat though. Next time I'd like try the brisket and see how that is. Well this was a spectacular find in Crown Heights. Forget Katz and head here instead. I got the pastrami lunch special (comes with fries and a salad) for $24, which was great value imo. The pastrami is excellent. Moist and a good portion to boot. Will definitely be back! read more

Man, this is the real deal spot for corned beef and brisket. Got a small corned beef and a medium pastrami, both on rye with mustard wrapped to go. I went there for the first time in several years today and it was far better than I remembered it. I got the medium pastrami-brisket combo. It's hard to find brisket that's moist and flavorful and this was it. And they also give you a cup of great au jus which makes it even better. The pastrami was right up there with all the more 'famous' delis with great bark on the edges. I don't know whose rye bread they use, but it was hearty, tasty, crusty and held the sandwich well, unlike the junk bread they serve at Katz's. Prices were quite fair compared to other delis. $21 for the sandwich and $1.75 for the Dr. Brown's soda (some delis charge $3.50 for the soda). And it came with several large slices of quite good pickles. I think the large sandwich is about $3 extra. And served on a REAL plate. This was a fabulous lunch. I've got to get there more often. I only have one complaint: I wish they'd open a few branches around the city. read more

The hell with everything else on the menu, when you sell brisket, pastrami, and corned beef on the menu, and that is what you advertise, that is what I am going to focus on. Before I get into what I ordered, I will preface this review by saying this is NOT a Jewish deli. It is owned by a Muslim family and the meats are halal, which is essentially the Islamic kosher. That matters little to me. I have eaten halal meat and like it, so here I go. I got the sandwich with all three meats along with a coleslaw, and it did not disappoint one bit. All the meats are melty, briney, with so much flavor and very easy to eat. Get a fork and eat this open faced for a more enjoyable plate of food. There is also an option to get it with mayo but that would be a horrid decision on your part. Stick with the mustard, it will help you eat this and enjoy it more. The dish also comes with a nice array of pickles and and served on seedless rye bread. Smart! Both of them are the perfect pairing so the meats digest easier. I also found the cashier who took my order highly intelligent, with good know-how. He was patient and answered all my questions in a succinct, straightforward, respectful, and thoughtful manner. More restaurants need to hire kids like him. Now for the dirt, most of it nitpicks. -While my meal was served on a ceramic plate, the coleslaw was served in a clamshell container. That is disgusting. Give it to me on a ramekin or another sort of bowl. We eat with our eyes, and seeing this made me throw it away after three bites. -Offer free water. Salty meats mean higher water consumption. Do not be greedy. Give me free water. It will not kill the business. -They offer a Moroccan soup at $7, but it appears they only serve it in tupperware bowls. That ruins it. Put it in a real ceramic bowl to allow all the flavors to know each other and make the dish look real pretty. -I would only go in daylight here as the location outside is a bit sketchy (Bed-Stuy, the "You May Be Right" version of Bed-Stuy). Besides these nitpicks, I am happy I visited here and really happy with the overall result. This definitely rivals Katz's, Sarge's, and 2nd Ave Deli as having some of the best pastrami, corned beef, and brisket in New York City. read more

i can say this place does not at all feel like an old Jewish deli. It's a little midblock store you can easily miss with a little counter and, well, the meat is halal not kosher. Anyway, the food actually seems to come out authentic. Constant service in and out but friendly and quick. Kraut was an extra $1.50 and they didn't say anything but at least I saw it in the register. Buyer, be alert! And the verdict... Not quite enough to draw me back. Rye bread has no seeds and fell apart on me. Thick cut pastrami doesn't work to the right senses that thin cut does. In the end I think Eppes Essen wins and is much closer to home. Not bad here at David's but that's my overall impression in a New York minute. read more

David's brisket house does burgers very well. I don't mean gimmicky fancy ones either. Just a BASIC beef burger with all the fixings. I've had about 3 of them and I have no complaints. The burgers are huge and made with real beef. What more could a person ask for? I typically get Uber Eats because I hate trying to park over there, but even then, the food is still pretty good after traveling for 30 minutes. Burgers are topped with BEEF bacon for the pork patrol. And the pickles! Love the full sours. Yes they have brisket, pastrami, and corned beef. Yes those are good, but if I had to choose, the brisket is my favorite, with the jus. But I LOVE me a good burger so yeah. They get 5 stars in my books. read more

Have heard lots of hype for Davids and have recently ordered from them a few times. The first time I of course tried the Pastrami on rye as thats what I gauge all delis by. The pastrami was very good,I actually like that they dont overstack it like Katz does and the price is much more reasonable. The pastrami itself was solid. Not too fatty. The crust was terrific.Could definitley use more mustard but a very solid sandwich. The next time I tried the Brisket as it is their namesake. It was a good brisket if a bit dry. Im more a fan of BBQ joint Brisket as oposed to Deli Brisket but it was still good. Wasnt a fan of the middle eastern style soup. Give me a good ole Matzoh Ball soup and the knish was very subpar and seemed more the store brought type. All and all tho a very solid spot and now have them in our lunch rotation. read more

Can't remember what show featured this spot but I was in the Bed-Stuy area so made the stop and didn't regret it. A smaller dining area and they offer breakfast, burgers, along with the Pastrami, Brisket and Corned Beef. I got here in the afternoon around 3 so ordering was quick. I asked to try the Brisket as they do offer tastings. It was good but decided to go with Pastrami and Corned Beef sandwiches. Generous portions and go with the large as it's an extra 1/4 pound (3/4 pound total) for just a couple of more dollars. Pastrami was tasty. That said, the Corned Beef stole the show. Some of the best I've ever had. Just the right amount of fat and salty-so good and a must try! The kind lady at the counter was patient with my questions and friendly. A recent trip led to consumption of s think of beauty perfectly seasoned and prepared pastrami tender to the tooth and palate with just the right ratio of fat to lean. I have been a fan for more years that I care to recall and have never left unsatisfied. The only flaws are unremarkable side dishes and fries but the sandwiches more than make up for that. Stopped in today at around 6:30 pm this Sunday Sept 3rd to have my favorite Pastrami on rye always order the XL no matter what the prices are today it was $20.59 totally disappointed.................. A female worker made my sandwich and ya now what they say ?? If ya don't see it ?? Well I saw her reach in to the steamer and take out three Little pieces The ends if you will & I just knew it was not going to be a good experience... Honestly she used three tiny scrap ends to make my sandwich.......... My pastrami had hardly no flavor and the small pieces were a lil rubbery; don't know Don't care because the super star off this restaurant is their pastrami and they failed !!!! I would have brought the sandwich back but I was all the way home when I ate it a 2O minute ride .... I know food costs are extremely high as well as their over head but this neighborhood is booming the streets were packed; Raise ya prices to keep up ya quality & educate ya staff, I don't know what to tell ya .............. I follow UA eat on YouTube here, which I agree on his conclusion: amazing corned beef and good pastrami. I had a corned beef + pastrami sandwich and ask them to make it half and half instead of pile it up, which I think is one of the smartest choice. The corned beef was cured so well that you can taste the spices they used. And pastrami is thickly sliced, which I prefer, with peppery and smoky flavor. The pastrami is not juicy as Katz's (where now has become my standard for great pastrami), but the corned beef is really out of the world. However, the pickles did not catch up. It's a bit on the sour end, which I don't enjoy especially, and not crunchy thoroughly. Overall, $25 w/ tax is not a cheap price considering it's not in the big apple. I would recommend the first timer to try their small or medium corned beef. With only around 5 tables, it was a surprise that I don't have to wait on Friday noon.
