I had been waiting a year to come here after missing out on trying it while on a trip last year and I was so excited, I could barely decide which sandwiches to try. The owner has the typical New Yorker vibe--blunt and a fun character overall. We went with the chicken cutlet with prosciutto, artichoke, fontina, and herb sauce, along with the sausage with cheese and added broccoli rabe. Between the two, I'd get the chicken for sure. It was pretty tasty, but I must say I wasn't as blown away as I'd expected. The sausage sandwich got a bit soggy from all of the marinara (which I wasn't expecting based on the description), so I was less excited about it. It was way too much food for two people. Like one sandwich is plenty for two, but I got greedy with wanting to try too much. We had a ton leftover! I would have probably rated it 3.5 stars, but the German roach running around pained me to see and stole my appetite. I'd want to say I'd come back and try one of those delicious sounding breakfast sandwiches, but roaches are a hard sell for me. read more

Know in advance that it's small, know it's ran by just a small handful of people, and it might take you a smidge to get what you want. But, in the end, it's worth it. My most recent time here I got the chicken cutlet with prosciutto, artichoke, and fontina cheese with herb hot sauce. Damn, this sandwich was good. I'm a big fan of Defonte's, Sal Kris and Charlies, Court St Grocers, Sonny's in Canarsie that unfortunately no longer exists, etc, but this place fits amongst the elite sandwiches of NYC. I used to be more then a regular; a booster (as in supporter, not petty thief) of not simply Brancaccio's... but of Joe himself. A truly genuine, authentic salt of the earth guy. And one of the greatest chefs I've ever had the pleasure to know. And I've known my share of cats who made their livings and their names in a kitchen. From the very first day I discovered Brancaccio's I felt a magic a connection that I knew would change my life, make my belly really f--kin' happy and set my soul a-dancin'. On that first day Joe and I talked about the great food of NY; most of it gone but not forgotten by those who were of the time. We both lamented the lose of the legendary Zito's bakery on Bleecker. I can't tell you how long it had been since I'd ran into someone who even remembered Zito's much less was intimate with the place. I knew I was home. This was well over a decade ago. I won't go into specific things on Joe's menu that are worth trying because quite literally... everything is amazing. It just is! Soul satisfying beyond my ability to do justice to. I'd also like to throw out as an example of the humanity of the joint and it's capt. Joe... Joe treats his employees with respect, R E S P E C T as Aretha belted, dignity and the aforementioned humanity which is beautiful and virtually non-existent these days as far as I can see... and you can taste it in his food. That's just a big-ass Right On! Finally I like to say two or three things: First that as I initially identified myself as "used to being a regular" as and this is by no means a boo-hoo thing simply a fact... I fell pretty ill for a while and am just now beginning my reentry into the world. And as a matter of fact during the recent drag of days for me a thought kept slamming into the walls of my head and that was that I couldn't wait to once again sink my teeth into Joe's food. Well that day is here and I'm salivating at the thought. "I'll take one of everything my man!" Secondly, understand I've never written anything like this... Not cheap grease; I'm sure it was, like, high-quality olive oil mixed with mozz drippings. I ate that thing so fast I couldn't get a picture. I have bicycled past Brancaccio's many times and so today I decided to give it a try. Brancaccio's is a tiny shop in Windsor Terrace that is very easy to miss. I went in and ordered a Prosciutto and Mozzarella sandwich, and then I bicycled home to eat it. The Prosciutto and Mozzarella were fine, but the bread wasn't very good and they put way too much Balsamic vinegar on it. My bill was $12 and the value was $10. Thank U next! read more

I'd give this stop 5 Stars if the customer service was better because the food is great. But... I once ordered the ham and cheese on a croissant and despite not being in the menu description they threw roasted red peppers on it. I picked them off and It was still good but I don't want a breakfast sandwich with something on it that I didn't order. I ordered the same thing another time and asked there not be roasted red peppers on the sandwich and they listened-it was perfect. I've also had some of their pasta and veggies and overall the food is on point. When it comes to the owner and customer service...I've lived in NYC for 13 years and understand that customer service can lack even at wonderful spots-and we just deal with it. But this guy is a bit of a jerk. He's condescending and irritable. He treated a regular customer in front of me like family and me like I was homeless and needed to get out ASAP. They ran out of croissants and he got annoyed when I tried to order one of the croissant sandwiches as if I was supposed to know they were out of them. At that, the food is great. Every bite is a harmony of chicken cutlet cut in strips with prosciutto, fontina cheese, artichoke and their hot sauce between a delicious sesame seed Italian bread. I've had Brancaccio's bookmarked for a very long time. Can't believe I waited so long. Just wish I lived closer so I could add them to my eats list. They're served with a large amount of attitude and a side of sarcasm, but so is Brooklyn. I wasn't blown away to the extent that I'll stop in every time I'm in Brooklyn, but I will return. We got 2 sandwiches, one that I picked, and one that the owner suggested for me. Both of them were enjoyable. This is by far the best place to get food in Kensington. Their sandwiches can feed two, are $9, and absolutely incredible as is all of the prepared food they make. The prices are more than reasonable, you can get a rotisserie chicken and two sides for something like $16! If you want to get a sandwich best to try early as they sometimes are super busy and run out of bread... because it's that good everyone wants it. Owner is always there and is a nice guy who obviously works hard which makes it a place you want to support even more. The man behind it all, Joe, is going to be behind the counter when you walk in. He's happy to shoot the shit with you when the place is empty, but when there's a line don't waste everyone's time. Some might mistake his business-like attitude for rudeness, but the man is just trying to run a business. And as far as I can tell, he's running it the right way.** There's an extensive list of sandwiches (no cutesy names, just ingredients listed), and a solid list of prepared food for you to grab and go. So far, everything I've tasted is excellent. I once asked Joe which he would recommend between two sandwiches, and he told me that it's his menu. Nothing goes on it without him loving it. So just go with your gut. You know what you like, and if Brancaccio's has something you're into, I bet you're gonna love it. It's a hidden secret of this little neighborhood that everyone should know about. It's easy to just walk in and find something delicious from here. Too busy to cook? This is a great solution. I am a huge fan of Brancaccio's sandwiches as well. His sandwich menu is available till 4P only. Prepared foods are available all day. The menu changes daily in terms of pre prepared dishes, but he has consistent dishes that are simply great. Simple and tasty, he uses the most soft, pillowy breads. The toppings are all a balanced and unique combination, whatever you plan to order. The prepared pasta dishes taste like home cooking. The roasted vegetables make a great side. All his pasta dishes are amazing. The glazed chicken here is top notch. I'd say his breakfast sandwiches, roasted chicken, and roasted vegetables are my favorite to get. Note, Brancaccio isn't opened on Tuesdays. He also may not be able to accommodate those who have really strict diets or specific allergies. The food here will be prepared as is or as noted on the menu. If you're too busy to cook, this is the perfect alternative because his dishes are all well-prepared and always fresh. Amazing food. Brancaccio's is one of those rare places you'll want to go to nearly every day of the week. My wife's favorite sandwich is the mozzarella caprese. I don't know if I could give a favorite but the chicken parmesan is unbelievably good. I'd also highly recommend the chicken special and the porcetta. You really can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches though. Not only that but the prepared food in the case is also spectacular. The orecchiette is fantastic. We really love the lentil salad as well, but lately we've switched to the chickpea salad. A lot of great options in there. Lastly the meatballs and sauce are really fantastic. Reviews on Yelp are mainly about the owner, though I didn't receive any negative attitude from him when I placed my order. Menu is plastered on the front of the counter, varieties of sandwiches changes every so often. Ordered their famous Meatball Sub and the Pork Shoulder Cuban sandwich, paid at the counter, and waited about 10 minutes for my orders. Both sandwiches came out fresh and warm, even by the time I got home. The meatball sub was a bit mushy though; as the filling slided off once I took a bite. I once avoided this place because I thought the sandwiches were expensive and the Italian imports here are too small . I started giving this place a second chance recently and I feel its a lot better then I initially gave it credit for. For a start their food is really good and feels handmade. You can see all the chefs working in the shop preparing foods, like pasta and meatloaf, which is unique for an Italian food shop. Talking about the food, you can really get a full meal with greens, pasta and meat. Its all good and not too expensive if you a get a half pound of this or that. The owner here is very friendly as well and you will probably meet him if you go to the shop. He regularly chats with customers and tries to give you good service. That type of personal touch is what makes a place like this a staple of any neighborhood. I appreciate this place a lot more now that I have been to it more and tried some of their other food. So a longggg time ago before I ever moved to New York, I was browsing some stuff to eat around the neighborhood by our airbnb. Welcome to the hidden gem that is Brancaccio's. This place is heaven to me. And if it's heaven, that makes owner, Joe, it's god. Having a vision of a classic Brooklyn joint, Joe created his business about half a decade ago, but the word of Brancaccio's didn't start blowing up until the past couple of years. The place is small, but that's fine. Take your food to go, or sit on a bench outside. Take it home, sit in your car, just don't expect to eat in there. There's so much to eat here. You could check out the menu online, but it's not updated often. So it can give you an idea but don't get your hopes up. The menu scribbled in the store is what they got that day. Things that could be had there on a regular basis are the meatballs (maybe the best in the borough), the pork shoulder cuban, stuffed chicken, pot roast, and broccoli rabe. I also love their breakfast sandwiches. I once had trout, with bacon, and cheese. Phenomenal! I once even came here for breakfast and lunch one day.
