It was an absolute honor to get my first tattoo here at Royal Six by none other than Jaime VI!!! My wife & I came in to get a consultation, not really even thinking we'd get tattoos that day! But the staff were really friendly and helpful. After a few minutes Jamie came out to meet us and I could already tell from the beginning, this was THE guy. After getting to know eachother a bit, he heard our ideas about what we both wanted, the price range, & about how long it would take. After agreeing to everything we waited in the lobby for about less than an hour before he was able to see us. During that time we met a lovely individual Aaron who was an absolute sweet heart, also waiting to get another tattoo. She pretty much made most of the waiting time fly by with the amazing stories of traveling down to Costa Rica and Cajun. Just the whole vibe of the place sets up to be a core memory for me. The whole tattoo took about 3 hours for my forearm and about an hour for my wife's tattoos. The whole time Jamie told us about the many amazing people hes met over the 16 years hes been tattooing and got to know us during that time. We really appreciate this experience and the hospitality and even helping up out at the end with the price. I did a walk-in last week after over 15 years of being there. I needed a new tattoo and some additions to an existing one. Mason got me in the next day, and I can't recommend him enough. He went above and beyond on blending in the additions. I'm getting lots of comments on it already (it's on my forearm) and it's not even done healing! Mason is quite an artist who can make your ideas come alive. He is also very personable, which helps the time fly. And he was very reasonable on the price. Came in to get a little ankle tattoo of my husband and my initials, very basic, they have $100 minimum tattoo fee, and because of the placement of the tattoo the bottom of the heart is starting to fade but the initials are still visible which is what matters the most. I would give five stars but as you can see in the picture, parts of the initials were a little more heavy-handed which made the line thicker than in other spots, it would be an easy fix if I were to go back in to get it touched up, I just haven't done it yet. I was looking for a quality tattoo artist in the Sierra Nevada Foothills for some very specific artwork. Royal Six Tattoos was recommended to me by a friend, so I went to check it out. I was told by a member of the very friendly staff that for color tattoos, I should talk to Mason Hogue, so I did. That turned out to be an outstanding recommendation! I wanted a Cobra car tattoo on the back of my left calf, and I provided Mason with an image. From that, he created a perfect tattoo, exactly what I wanted. I then wanted an image of St. Michael, Archangel and patron saint of police officers and soldiers on my left forearm. We worked closely together to fine tune the artwork, and it turned out perfectly, once again. Most recently, we collaborated on a Crusader shield, sword and cross tattoo on my right forearm, then the Latin words Defensores Veritatis (defenders of truth) around it. This was done today. My wife has never considered getting a tattoo for fear of the image being uneven or imperfect, but because of Mason's artistry, she has agreed to get matching C8 Corvette emblem tattoos with me. Love this place. My friend and I did a walk-in for some helix and lobe piercings. Everyone there was so nice and welcoming. Lauren ended up taking care of us. Her calm demeanor, knowledge, and steady hand made the process so easy and straightforward. Her pinch and pull method left me with ZERO bruising and soreness. I usually don't write reviews, but I was shocked when I woke up the next morning without any aching or scabbing. Sidenote** I suggest to anyone going in for a piercing to grab a can of their Neil Cleanse aftercare mist. I just wanted a small simple tattoo on girls night in Placerville and the other tattoo shop in Placerville wouldn't let me get a tattoo unless it was one of the ugly tattoos on their sign that were themed for girls night even though their shop was totally empty with three tattoo artists in it! I've had two tattoos from Jamie. One small one on my inner wrist and one large back piece. Jamie knows how my idea translated best to tattoo form. I had photos of the basic idea for the large back piece and he even hand drew the flowers right on my back! It turned out fantastic! He works with you and listens to what you want and he made some suggestions based on his expertise. I took him up on his suggestions and I am so glad I did! He is a true artist. Haven't been tattooed here yet, but wanted to leave a review of my piercing experience: Made an appointment with my 2 sisters to get nose piercings. One sister called and we were given appointments the next day which was great. Alex did a good job, he listened to what each of us wanted, was friendly, gave us his opinion on placement, and made sure to review proper after care. The shop and his piercing room/station was really clean, there was a decent selection of jewelry to choose from for our initial piercings. Clearly Jaime doesn't need or want my business. Even when I'm looking to spend 5, 6 or 7 hundred dollars. I stopped by the shop at least a month ago and left my number. Jaime looked me in the eye and said he would call later that evening. Nothing. I called a few weeks later, left a message and again NOTHING. I went here for their Friday the 13th deals on October, 2023. They were offering $13 flash tattoos which seemed a much better deal than the shop down the street which was offering tattoos for $100 - $200. Unfortunately, the quality of the tattoos weren't spectacular. I had the owner of the shop, Jaime, do my tattoo. The first one looked good but was different from what was posted on the flash wall. The second one was the most horrible tattoo I've ever gotten - horrible line work, asymmetrical, crooked, etc. I came back in to have it fixed two weeks later, and it was "fixed" for free since Jaime admitted it wasn't too stellar to begin with (good customer service on their part). The fix was still less than fantastic, however, and while I enjoyed my time in the shop and the people I met there were pleasant, the tattoos themselves were a letdown. read more

I was going to rate zero stars... but my finger slipped sideways... Much like the piercer at this shop who pierced my septum crooked (with clamps)... and clipped the cartilage. On the bright side, it was done poorly enough that the sweet spot was still open enough to get it pierced again in the correct place once my wound heals in a couple weeks. (At a different shop of course) The shop looked nice and clean enough, and had a good first impression. They were able to get me in right away on a Saturday afternoon. Also, the piercer did not charge me for my piercing because of the situation. read more

Honest to god, I'll never go to another tattoo shop again. Jaime was amazing from start to finish. I contacted him yesterday regarding a decently sized spine tattoo I had been debating getting for awhile. Walked into the shop today to talk details and he was able to fit me in the same day (I know this isn't always the case - I got super lucky!). He made me feel super comfortable and at home in the shop. The attention to detail was incredible. They took great care of me, checking in to make sure I was alright, making sure I had water etc. I really felt like family the whole time.
