Personally didn't need a lecture on how wine needs to breathe, I'm well aware, nor do I find it appropriate to chase me down in line over it, but okay I let it go as well and thanked him for his help. Everything else was great, until the check came. I guess there was an issue with the card we used and different server very discretely brought it to our attention. Of course we're embarrassed, but grateful for the discreetness. Mind you, we've been here many times and have never had any issues before, just inadvertently gave an old card. I grabbed my purse to provide a different card and the initial server decided to comment loudly to my partner something about where'd you get lucky enough to find her as if to say women don't pay. I was shocked and mortified! At that point I simply replied that it all comes out of the same accounts anyway, just a different name on the card. The comment was well beyond inappropriate, brought attention unnecessarily, and was absolutely unwarranted. At least we've been together for more than a decade, I can't even imagine if this was someone's first date! We didn't need to offer an explanation, but at that point we just wanted to be done and get out as quickly as possible.
