We used to enjoy BiryaniPot, which makes this all the more impressive--they've somehow managed to turn a repeat customer into a "never again" in one quick interaction. We stopped in to order several naan breads to go (not one...several), and they told my husband he had to purchase a full meal just to buy naan. Apparently, bread now comes with terms and conditions. Who knew? It's a bold strategy...refusing perfectly good money unless it's bundled with something we didn't want. If the goal was to make customers feel like an inconvenience rather than, you know, customers...mission accomplished. The good news is they did us a favor. We found a new place, Masti Fun Indian Street Eats, that actually welcomes business and, as it turns out, makes far better naan anyway. Shocking how that works. So yes, what used to be a go-to is now a hard pass. If you're craving unnecessary rules with your food, this is your spot. Otherwise, you might want to look elsewhere. read more

Nice Ambience. Have tried few starters and Biryanis. They taste ok. Spice level is not high. Portion is decent. Service is nice. There used to be unlimited dosa night before but they stopped it now. They have Mandi biryani as well. There is a breakfast buffet for 12.99 on weekends and lunch buffet for 24.99. Breakfast buffet is decent (They had idli, fresh Dosa, Poori, Potato curry, Vada, Upma, Bonda, Peanut chutney and one spicy Chutney, Sambar, Tea) worth trying it. Out of 5 tries only 1 time was good service when the manager was the one who is talking. The rest were Desasters, Food is good but not all dishes especially when they preheated a chicken Tikka and sell it as just grilled and you need to wait more time!! ( Lies ) and now its in the TRASH. The Biryani (goat) was generous, flavorful, and prepared extra spicy, as requested. In many restaurants my plea for extra spicy is ignored or dismissed like "he doesn't know what he's asking for." I especially appreciated the metal service equipment, which kept the biryani warm through most of the meal. Service from our primary sever was quite attentive, but service by ancillary personnel was cold and impersonal. Ambience was the only drawback; we found it futile to have any meaningful conversation in the close proximity to screaming, crying kids, of which there were MANY! The curries also had a lot of flavor and went well with the biryani. The curd rice and mango lassi were nice as well after the spice of the curries and biryani. My daughter eats like one puri and we always end up paying full price elsewhere. It was not negotiable. The hot breads in Alpbaretta "sir"red me. "if your kid eat one puri also you need to pay full price, sir". "Anyone above 3 should pay full price sir". The front desk staff were rude af too. Never visited that place again. Service might be nice but more or less similar pricing model for most of the other places who offer breakfast buffet. We dont indulge much either. A simple breakfast for 3 ends up above $45 elsewhere, despite the low quality items and limited choices. But biryani pot, wow! I don't even know how they make money. Owner said, they offer breakfast just to bring people in and attract customers. There is no money to be made there. You just cant beat the price and value. Not just some usual breakfast items like idli and dosa for the sake of it, they actually put ragi java a healthy and nutricious breakfast soup, omlette, pongal, puri, halwa, bonda, what not. Not fine dining but EXCELLENT traditional food. This is some of the best indian food I've eaten since traveling through India. The onion naan was the best I have ever eaten. The roti and butter naan were also very good. The Hariyali chicken Masala was flavorful with lots of cilantro. The Dal Makhani incredibly complex tastes, absolutely delicious. We also shared the more subtle flavors of the Palak Paneer, so vibrant green with the white cheese, so tasty. I loved the flavorful chicken tikka masala and not to forget the hyperbadi chicken dum biryani. The meat was very tender and flavorful. It was served with a tasty rice with many herbs/flavors. Be sure to dial in your own level of heat. A couple of us have eaten a lot of Indian food, but others were sweating profusely. We finished the meal with kulfi. I am so glad to have finally found some very tasty traditional food at a reasonable price. We asked each other which plate we would not order our next visit and could not come up with a single candidate. The one reason the atmosphere got a low rating was the movie that was being shown. Biryani Pot is an Hyderabadi-Indian chain serving biryani, tandoori fare and other traditional dishes in a warm space. One of the best places in Atlanta for a good Chicken Biryani. I loved the Goat Chops too. They have always been consistent with the quality and taste of the food. The choices are plentiful and the canteen style dining room make the dining experience more casual and comfortable. Freshly cooked Chicken Biryani, guarantee you a flavorful experience with good amount of spice levels to my taste. The chicken 65 was tender and a perfect yogurt tang. If you can't control the Indian spice then go for milder version. Staff is extremely polite and accommodating and service is amazing. They do have a small banquet hall on the side, which can easily accommodate around 50 plus people at a time. As this place sits in a shopping plaza, so their is ample free parking in front of the restaurant shared by other businesses around. They brought the cilantro chicken earlier so by the time naan got to us, the chicken was already cold. But it was still very good. The biryani was EXCEPTIONAL! The meat itself was a bit hard but the rice and the masala was spot on. BEWARE, this biryani is usually made spicy. We ordered a medium which was still a bit on the hot side. The only drawback of the whole ordeal was the chai. The glass was a bit bigger than a shot glass so in my opinion, it wasn't worth the $3. This place was recommended by someone who loves biryani. The Tawa Fish fry was a disappointment. Priced at $19.99, the appetizer was very underwhelming on all counts. The dish was really really oily. I used up two paper napkins to dab the oil off of it. The fish had too many bones and the side salad was a sorry excuse for a salad. Overall an okay experience. The service was good. I appreciate the steel cutlery, reminds one of home. Ketchup with Samosas?!! Alright, you'll see I had a 5 star review a few weeks ago & that stands for that visit. However, my review for the last visit is mixed. I'd give it 3 stars. Firstly, the people working there are kind and I give them good points for that. My issue is that when ordering the samosas, instead of bringing out chutney, they brought out a bowl of ketchup. Literally never in 20 years have I had anyone try to bring me ketchup with samosas. Then, when asking for the chutney, he brings the chutney and a second bowl with ketchup mixed with yogurt. What is that? Stop bringing me ketchup. I don't know if they thought we wouldn't know any better and would think ketchup was an acceptable sauce to be brought out with any Indian dish, but yeah. So that was disappointing. Got the chicken Tikka masala again (we always get that as one of our dishes) and the house special curry. Both delicious dishes, but the Tikka masala wasn't quiet as good as last time. Still good, though. And I appreciate that they put full chunks of onions and bell peppers. Additionally, they didn't serve it with a side of ketchup, so no points lost. Ordered the garlic basil Nan again. It was good but not as good as last time. It was fine, though. Maybe a little before average. so no points lost. Lastly, I ordered a Mango Lassi. They didn't make it fresh. They brought it out in a plastic bottle with a lid. They shook it up before they brought it to me so the drink would coat the sides making the bottle look full. It wasn't full. Also, I make Mango Lassi all the time. It takes 2 seconds. Why not make it fresh? Why not serve it in a glass like normal (because I'd see that you only gave me a partial serving??)? Why only fill the small bottle up 2/3 of the way? Points deducted. Unfortunately, don't know if I'll be going back. There's a great Indian place closer by so my incentive to drive further is gone. Maybe if I'm in the area. Bummer. read more

WORST SERVICE EVER. Not sure if the management changed or what, but this place has really gone down hill. We used to be regularly here's, but won't be coming back anymore. We asked a question on the menu, but they never came back to follow up. We didn't even get water, we had to flag them down. Menu items are priced wrong and they tried to charge us extra. Plus with all of the terrible service they were trying for us to pay 20% gratuity for a table of 2! There was no where on the menu or anywhere that mentioned this. We asked for more info, but they refused. Happy to pay 20%+ gratuity for great service, but not for what service and quality of food we received. Management was also rude. No complaints about the food, we love it. So we were thrilled when they announced they'd be open for breakfast. We even had it there once. Since then, we have made multiple trips for breakfast and ALWAYS found them closed or not ready. The time printed on their door says 7.00am. Their employees tell you that they actually open at 8.00am! (A whole hour after their declared time) When we went there today, we were asked to come back after 8.30am! This review is for take away outlet they opened on exit 13 in Cumming. We have regularly done takeaway and were pleased - standard dishes like Panner Tikka Masala. That was not the case today the dish was not even close to their own version of PTM from past times. Full of BIG chunks of raw white onion. Sweet beyond believe, no masala straight up uncooked cream. When I called, they asked me to bring the dish back which I drove and did in middle of dinner. Instead of apologizing and making customer whole he went back and argued that the chef said this is how PTM is and if I did not want BIG chunks of onion or capsicum I should have ordered Butter Panner Masala. Now I was not going to stand there and explain his chef and him the difference between Karahi Panner and BTM. Best kitchens have bad days and substitute chefs and honest mistakes. But saying the customer doesn't know what they are talking and arguing is not acceptable. Plenty of choices in Cumming for Indian food. Never again Biryani Pot. This was first Dine-in experience and the food quality is consistent to one we had for catering. In fact the portion sizes are bigger for the price. A combination of factors makes this place not worth going to, particularly for lunch. Our party of 12 called ahead and made reservations for lunch on a Friday. When we arrived, they did not reserve any tables for us and we had to wait 15 minutes outside. We got seated at 12:50. Most of the lunch crowd was gone by this time. They gave us water, but did not ask if we wanted ice or not. They gave all of us water without ice, which is fine for most Indians. But if they want to get the American customers, they need to ask. Most all of us ordered either the veg or nonveg combo lunch. When we ordered, they did not ask how spicy we wanted the food. When we asked what was the appetizer that came with it, the server did not know off the top of his head. It was almost 2:00 by the time all of us got our food. Some got the food at 1:30, so they finished eating by the time the last person got his food. Another table of 6 arrived after us and got all their food before us. They never refilled our water until we asked for it. When they did refill it, it was only filled halfway. Food was served on a cafeteria tray like they have in schools. Portion was large, but quality was so-so. Food is quite spicy, which is fine for most Indians, but most Americans would not be accustomed to it. They forgot to give us the raita until we asked for it. They would not allow us to pay for the food individually, but had to split the check six ways. So, people had to pair up to pay for the check. Ok I'll admit I knocked this place the first few times I visited. It's very unassuming at first, but if you get the right dishes then Biryani Pot can turn out to be a legendary meal. When we call they give carlees answer of replacing, as if they are doing a favor, they dont even feel sorry about such mistake. such a pity to see a service from a good biryani place. Checked out their buffet this morning. What I really liked about the buffet is the variety of food they have. I have come across Indian buffet that have more number of items but this one have variety in dishes. They had rabbit curry, crab curry, fish curry, chicken curry, fried fish, fried chicken, lamb biriyani, rice biriyani and so on.. I loved the fruit custard in it end, it was delicious. They had a diss station and made fresh dosas right in front of you. I loved the freshness of the food. Now I'm not giving five stars since the food is very spicy and although they open at 11:30 on Sunday the buffet was not ready till 12:30. The buffet is a little expensive which is $17. But that is not the issue since they have such variety. I would go there one in a while to try out crabs and rabbit curries since I don't know if any other Indian restaurant does that.
