DO NOT BUY GROUPON ADS FROM THIS BUSINESS. Read the other reviews about people's experiences, they use Groupon to get you in the door and then tell you they are giving you the lowest quality of tint that you can buy, but you can upgrade to a higher quality, but the $$ you paid for Groupon will not be applicable to your upgrade. Then they go into a whole bunch of mumble jumble about tint that ONLY a person who works with tint would understand. Lastly, they proceed to tell you that it is clearly defined on the Groupon you purchased....uh...well yeah, it is but I don't speak tint geek language. I didn't know we bought your shittiest product, but thank you for telling us that after the purchase with Groupon has been completed. Quality work with no drama. This is the second car this shop has tinted for me and in both cases the transaction was smooth and the quality of the work was excellent. The sales dude was clear what I was buying and what to expect. I paid for the top-shelf film which includes a no-fault guarantee and the film is tried and tested. Person on the phone was very rude and unprofessional. Wanted to give this place a chance but apparently because of this experience I will not. Just put it this way as soon as I got off the phone I went straight to this to share my experience. There are 2 reasons why people would review a business or service. 1 because they either love it or 2 they hate their experience. I hated mines would not recommend. I found Royal Tinting by my house via Yelp. I chose to give them a try because they did have good reviews minus all the cheap people who seemed to have an issue with their groupons. I had a great experience. They got me in quickly, explained all if my options thoroughly and my car was ready to go in 3 hrs. The guy running the front desk was helpful and answered all my questions. They even went as far as to say that I paid Groupon, and not them. So... I guess that this makes me eligible to be treated as a third class citizen? The gentlemen in the office were very kind and patient with my situation and explained why they had to do things the way they did. Called this morning because I saw a deal I liked. They were able to schedule me within an hour and got my two front windows tinted in less than 30 minutes. I was able to get some work done but not much because they were so fast and the quality was great and the customer service was superb. Definition of "Bait and Switch". Don't get the Groupon deal from Royal Tinting. It will cost just as much, if not more then other tint shops. There is no customer service from these guys especially for Groupon customers. They use Groupon to get you into their shop and then try to up-sell you on everything. 1- Extra $15 each to tint rear quarter windows on the back doors. There is no option to not get these done either. If you want your car fully tinted you will have to pay extra. 2- $5-10 extra per window, besides front windows, to get darker than 35% shaded film. 3- Groupon coupon only includes their most basic tint film. Which they only recommend if you plan on keeping the car for less than a year because this film fades so fast. 4- Extra $60-$100 to get upgraded tint film that won't fade in a year. Save your time and money and go someplace that will treat you right. read more

So I've seem a ton of reviews online that have been less than stellar. I called about the groupon deal and they mentioned it is for the lowest grade film, duh! Groupon takes 50% of profits. He mentioned it can upgrade for a fee of $15 per level. I went with the mid level. I forgot to schedule an appointment because I had to get with my wife as to when she was available. They worked with me and got me right in. Also we have 2 small windows I didn't realize but since they quoted a certain price they honored it and did the 2 smaller windows without a fee. I am both satisfied and dissatisfied with the service and the job done. I own a 1994 Honda Civic that had no tint and it was time to put some on so I looked around. I saw on Groupon that they had a deal and bought it. I called them later to make an appointment and they politely said that the groupon deal does not apply to vehicles older than 2000 which was a little confusing but I was fine with it and Groupon refunded the cost. They then gave me a quote and said it would cost me an extra $120 because the vehicle was older than 2000. Again confused but I still accepted their policy. I showed up and wanted to do 5% in the back and they said it was going to be an additional $10 per window that was darker than 50% which was understandable so I went with it but just seemed like there was a bunch of hidden fees. The overall time to do it was extremely fast. I went across the street to eat lunch and it was done shortly after I got back. It was beautifully done and looked amazing. They told me to wait 3 days before rolling down the windows to let the glue set which I did. I drove home and upon further inspection there was a huge 3 inch gouge in the driver side window, in the glass itself not the tint. I called the next day because they were closed by the time I got home and asked if we could sort something out to fix the issue. They replied by saying they can't accept responsibility because I had it overnight and something could have happened within that time which was frustrating but understandable. After the three days I rolled down the windows to find out that the tint did not meet the edge of the top of the window which was also disappointing. There were also what looks like glue that mixed with the water to apply the film stained underneath the back window above the seats and I've tried to get it out with no luck. This was done roughly a year ago and I can say I am extremely pleased with the product. It has not bubbled or faded in any way and has held up strong. I am very pleased with the product they used which I believe was their lowest grade product but not too satisfied with the service. I have recommended these guys to multiple people and they all loved them but with roughly the same issues. I would still recommend them just make sure to check absolutely everything in their parking lot. read more

They did a good job, but I must say they did a bait and switch on me too. I talked to them on the phone ahead of time and they offered to match the Groupon deal even though I hadn't bought it- they agreed upon price was $200 for the ceramic tint. So I brought it in and they did a good job on it and then told me the price was $265, because it was an extra $65 because my car was a hatchback. They had never mentioned anything about that before- and maybe the price was justified, but it was unethical to not forward me of this. I did not just the issue, but will never go back there and will steer other people away from there- and this treatment upset me enough to do my first Yelp feedback. read more

Evidently I had some old tint on my car that has been sitting there for ages (as it was bought used) so it faded completely and I had no idea I even had tint on it. I left to run some errands during my appointment while the tint was getting done and these guys were nice enough to remove the tint and didn't charge me for it because I hadn't known about it. These guys are not upfront or clear on their pricing and they showed little respect for the customer. I'm sure if you had a problem after the fact, you would see the same type of attitude - they will take the side that they are the experts and therefore right and you are wrong. Here is the story - Called R-Tint to have my rear taillights tinted. They said it would be $35 each. I'm like ok, that's a fair price and I book an appt. When I arrive at the shop in Midvale the man comes out and says it will be $25 per light and an extra $5 to cut out the backup light area. I'm thinking oh, great he is giving me a better price of $30 each. NOT! When we get in the store he writes me up to do the work and I get a quote back for $120, not $60 as expected - DOUBLE the price. I see he is charging me for FOUR lights. instead of two When I question this and tell him I'm only interested in the Two tail lights he tells me there are 2 lights that make up each tail light... Turns out because each tail light goes across the trunk lid seam, that he is counting each 'Section' as one light and therefore there are FOUR lights. Really??? I'm like but I asked for the price to do my tail light not how much for each section of the tail light. The guy tells me that is what they said - $25 for each light. In the end I tell the guy I'm not interested in debating the point of what constitutes a tail light but suggest in the future he could make it more clear as to what "per light" really means. But he isn't interested in what I have to say so instead of just agreeing and saying something positive to try and keep my business, he starts arguing and talking over me etc. Then I find out he is one of the "owners" and I'm like well if you're an owner and you treat your customers like this, then I'm out of here... read more

Had clear bra on entire front end of brand new car. Hadn't driven the car more than 25 miles when we took it in. There are small "specs" that show up in the clear bra front end. He blames flaws in the paint of a BRAND NEW CAR. We believe it was carelessness doing the job. He basically threatened that if he removed it to show us it had inperfections, then I'd have to pay the $300 or more to have him put new clear vinyl on that part of my car. I even checked on his experience, and he said 17 years in the business. Therefore, I figured he knew how to do a good job. It was NOT cheap. read more

I used this company based on the Yelp reviews and the conversations I had with Nate over the phone. When I arrived at the appointed time, Jesse explained the options, cost, etc. Very helpful, very professional. I was told it would take close to two hours. By the time I got the car back, it had been just over 2.5 hours. When I questioned the employee about the extra time, he was very direct that I couldn't have been told two hours, etc. Unfortunately, I don't appreciate being told that I wasn't being truthful or that I wasn't smart enough to understand what somebody had told me. Instead of a simple 'sorry' about the misunderstanding on both sides, it became more confrontational. I admit I could have handled it better, but customer service at this point was definitely lacking. Before leaving we shook hands. While I can't comment on the job quality, I can say I had a positive experience until getting the car. If someone else chooses to risk having a confrontation, that's a risk at this business, or any other. read more

Do NOT use Royal Tinting for any of your tinting services. I "scheduled" a meeting for them to provide me a bid for a dozen large windows in my personal residence. They set a meeting time for 9:00 AM on a Tuesday morning. By 9:30 AM no one had shown up so I called the office to find out if someone was coming. I was told it was a scheduling oversight and that they never would have given me a specific time of day for a consultation, rather a range of time when they would be there. Which I would have been fine with had they originally told me that but I was provided an exact time. Nevertheless, they then asked me if I would be around so that they could send someone up to my home at some point that day. I told them I was busy and didn't have time to wait around all day for them. That's when Nate, one of the owners, became very rude and told me he would gladly bill me $200 an hour for their time for not keeping my appointment.
