He was quick to respond and we scheduled a service call for Sunday morning. On Sunday, he texted an hour before the scheduled time to let me know he was coming. He also called to confirm. He showed up on time, had all the tools and parts with him, and got to work. He was knowledgeable and efficient, spotted some other issues and explained them to me, and ultimately got the heater working smoothly (after replacing the thermal regulator, temperature sensor, control board, and communications cable). He also offered to check and top up some of the pool chemicals for free as part of the service call. (Side note - the man has some of the best tools I've seen for working with this stuff, which probably helped with his efficiency.) I'm updating my review to add clarity and context after further communication with Jesus. I originally called Royalty Pool and Spa Services because my Pentair MasterTemp spa heater was not heating. Before Jesus came, I had already replaced the heat exchanger (coil), igniter, and sensors, and the combustion/coil area had been cleaned. Jesus came out the next day for a $185 diagnostic fee, which was clearly stated upfront. He was punctual, polite, and professional. During the visit, he expressed concerns about the heater's age (about 10 years old) and about non-OEM parts that had already been installed, explaining that for safety reasons he is not comfortable guaranteeing work on units with aftermarket components connected to a gas line. He recommended replacing the control board and membrane with original Pentair parts and explained that these parts are now sold as a bundle, which he later showed would cost close to $900 before labor. Given the age of the heater, the cost of original parts, and prior repairs, he ultimately recommended replacing the entire unit rather than continuing to invest in repairs he could not guarantee. At the time, no definitive diagnosis was made, and I was still charged the $185 diagnostic fee. The following day, I chose to install an aftermarket control board myself at a much lower cost, and the heater has been working properly since. Jesus later confirmed he never deposited my check, which I appreciate, and this update reflects that resolution. While I ultimately resolved the issue myself at a fraction of the cost, I understand that his recommendation was based on safety concerns, liability, and use of manufacturer-approved parts. Jesus was amazing! Super responsive, great communicator and extremely professional. I had a pool party on a Saturday just to discover that my heater is not working that same morning. I called my regular pool maintenance guy who wasn't available to come until Monday. I was desperate so started calling people on Yelp!
