My dads old cuff link and tie pin set turned into pendants and a ring for my sister and I. And them my dad's baguettes from his wedding ring - into a ring for myself with a design from help with Garo to ensure the baguettes wouldn't fall out. Each part of the decision making process I felt supported and also advised on the type of gold, what would work, why what I wanted would not work and letting me make the decision. In the end, I trusted Garo...and this ring designed to hold the memory of my dad turned out wonderful...and a lasting memory that I could wear every day. I then had my friends and my sister go to Garo - and they experienced the same - insightful, knowledgable, kind information when what you want may not be the best for you - but in the end - the diamonds won't fall out and the workmanship - amazing. It's good to feel you are in good hands with someone who has a passion for the art, the gems and you. These items were made and purchased about 4-5 years ago...and I've just come back to purchase an engagement ring. This time, instead of the help of Laura and Paul - Evan was the new consultant who helped me through the process. We met for the first time at the beginning of January to pick the stone - and then we decided on the setting with a lot of support and help from Evan. She is amazing, patient, with a lot of knowledge about the rings and stones and gold/platinum ideas. What a pleasure it was to work with her. We asked if it would be ready before Valentine's Day and I have it today. It is just gorgeous. The time, communication, and help from Evan made me feel confident that what I dreamed of would come to fruition, on time, and within our price. Everyone here has been a pleasure to work with. Gleim the Jeweler is a family owned brand that has began on University Ave in Palo Alto in 1931, that's 8 years short of a century! Gleim had 3 locations in the early 2000s, the initial goldsmith shop in Palo Alto, Stanford Shopping Center store where Gleim has been one of the original tenants, and here in Los Altos as well. They downsized back to the roots at one time, under the leadership of Georgie Gleim, the granddaughter of the founder. Only Stanford location has been kept throughout the past couple of decades, so now we have Los Altos store back into the mix of businesses on Main Street! I welcomed Rafik and Carolina to my downtown and they smiled at me gracefully! Let's take a look inside, shall we? We made very clear what we wanted as to the ring setting (i.e., a low profile), and the store manager at the time promised us that, even if we're not happy after purchase, we can come back any time and they can and will easily change the setting, satisfaction guaranteed, etc. Right after our engagement, we came back to the store and paid for a new ring setting, as the one my then-fiancee ultimately chose (based on the manager's recommendation) was still too high for my liking. We were told by the manager that it is no problem and we would have a new ring in no time. This is when the saga began. In the last 1.5 years, we have been calling and texting and visiting the store every other week, following up on the status, which were consistently met with - albeit very politely - (1) empty promises that it will be ready "this Friday" or "next week," (2) excuses (e.g., they are busy with [Christmas / Valentines' Day / Mother's Day] or there is no CAD designer available to do the drawing (in the entire Jared's chain)), or (3) simply ghosted. Finally, right before Christmas last year, we learned that the manager we've been "chasing" has moved out of the state to another branch. Quick note: we cannot just take the ring to any other jeweler to get a new setting because that would void the guarantee that Jared's offers (as most jewelry stores do) on the ring (e.g., if a/the stone falls off, they will replace it). Feeling utterly defeated and hopeless, we went into the store again, that's when we met Silva. We told her our story and she quickly connected with the manager, checked the system and studied the records, figured out exactly what we wanted and what needed to be done, and started to mobilize the entire process. She checked in and provided updates almost weekly, showing exceptional professionalism and commitment. Silva then introduced us to the amazing Tran, the in-store expert jeweler (whom I assume has been at the store in the last 1.5 years). Tran is super knowledgeable about everything jewelry. He explained to us the pros and cons of our different options - balancing beauty and strength. In the end, Tran went above and beyond, defying the laws of structural physics, designed and produced exactly what we wanted (no CAD drawings), for which we are beyond impressed and incredibly grateful. I just got a $1000 interest charge on the $1600 I owed. They do business with Comenity Bank, just do a quick google search of them and add the words shady business practices. So, after a year of not hearing from the GM I called back to day to inquire about the $1,000 interest slapped on my bill this last month. GM, who never called me back in over a year, just directs me to Comenity Bank Customer Service line. If you want a company that stands behind their product and delivers on promises, take your business elsewhere.

When choosing a jeweler for something as meaningful as an engagement ring, trust and transparency matter a lot.
