I've been going to Vardy's for years to have my wedding and engagement rings cleaned and have always appreciated their quality and craftsmanship. Last year, since we were approaching our 20th anniversary, I decided it was time to give my wedding ring a little glow-up. I visited three different jewelers and found a gorgeous sapphire and diamond band at Vardy's. They combined it with my engagement ring, and I was so happy with how it turned out. I'm truly in love with this ring--like, stare-at-it-under-sunlight kind of love. A year later, I brought it in for a cleaning and was told the stones were loose and should've been checked at the six-month mark. Totally fair. I'm not a fancy person and haven't owned jewelry this intricate before, so while I *kind of* knew that was the recommendation, I didn't realize how critical it really was. Plus, I moved to Santa Cruz County a few years ago, so popping over to Cupertino isn't exactly a quick trip. What didn't sit quite right was how that info was delivered. I left feeling like I'd just returned an overdue library book--sternly polite but definitely a lecture. I also got the interrogation on whether I wear my ring doing dishes, working out, doing yard work, etc. (which, I don't). I get that they care deeply about their work, and I appreciate that. But the tone felt more like blame than support, which was a little disappointing after making what I felt was a meaningful purchase. That said, they tightened the stones free of charge, which I really appreciated. When I picked up my ring afer the cleaning...wowza. It sparkled like the day I got it. I still think Vardy's does beautiful work, but the experience made me realize it's time time to find a jeweler a little closer to home. (And yes, I'll be getting it cleaned every six months from now on. Lesson learned.) read more

I wish I could write a good review as I was recommended Vardy's by my previous jewelers Teel's in Los Gatos. I took a cherished necklace, a petite diamond solitaire pendant that I had owned for 20+ years, to Vardy's because I was concerned that the diamond was loose and jiggling in the setting. I was getting my engagement ring checked and fixed at the same visit. I expressed that the necklace was one of my most important pieces, despite being much less expensive than the ring as it was the first piece of jewelry my husband had ever gifted me. They did a very brief check of it, ensured me it was fine and returned it to me. I asked if they were sure, re-expressed the importance, and they said yes. Less than two weeks later I looked in the mirror and noticed that the diamond had fallen out of the pendant setting. Needless to say I was heartbroken. I wrote an email expressing my disappointment and concern to Vardy's and never received a response. I will obviously need to find a different trusted jeweler for my pieces. I would have hoped for more thorough and considerate service from a recommended company, but I will no longer be doing business at Vardy's and would caution folks before doing the same with their treasured pieces. read more

I wish I could leave 10 stars!!! I went in to Vardy's to have my ring resized and could not be happier about the experience and the results. Vardy was able to resize my ring perfectly and reinforce the area where the gold was thinning and had a small crack. His workmanship is absolutely impeccable and one can see the artistry and care he puts into each piece on which he works. He even cleaned and polished my ring and it looks brand new! I have been going to Vardy since he started in 1981! I live in Texas now and fly to the Bay Area to Vardy because he is the only jeweler I trust with my treasured pieces. This is really a family run business! I met Vardy, his son, his daughter, an employee who's been there for months, and I saw the back work room with hard working jewelers. They are very friendly. Vardy showed us some new beautiful stones he just got. I'm coming up on my 30th wedding anniversary and I wanted to get my wedding ring cleaned and fixed. I normally do this every year and every few years, they reset the setting, build up the mount etc... The son, yikes forgot his name, did a super good job. I don't know all the technical terms but he soldiered in a new bottom mount and it seems very sturdy. Ive had other jewelers redo the mount with a thinner wire size mount, others adding extra gold to make a stronger mount. It's expensive and with regular wear and tear it needs to be done and I'm happy with the results. It took less than the quoted time. They also cleaned my two other rings, my husband's ring and my bracelet. They all came out sparkling! My tarnished antique bracelet came back two toned the way it should be and same with my other ring. The cleaning was free. Super happy with the service! read more

I visited Vardy's to have a gold chain fixed that I had made into permanent jewelry in LA, but it fell off easily. The staff were welcoming and helpful, carefully examining my bracelet and explaining that the original chain wasn't suitable for bracelets which is why it so easily fell off. I ended up replacing it with a new permanent bracelet from Vardy's because I had wanted for a while. The options were beautiful. So I haven't bought anything from Vardy's yet, but I did come in to get my rings re-plated and had a wonderful experience. Misha first told me that it would take a week which was fine and then on second thought he said it could get done right now if I wanted to wait.
