I've been eating their chocolate for the last year or two and still to this day know they make the best dark chocolate I've ever had. It doesn't even taste like dark chocolate. It tastes like it is its own flavor type of chocolate. Reminds me of me. When you walk past and even inside the place will make you feel as if you're in a high end designer store. Their servers are so darn professional and always there when ya need em. If you're worried about the price and don't want to just buy any old flavor, they do give out samples. I've been lucky to sample maybe a third of their basic box selection. On my last visit some guy had a box of chocolate potatoe chips and he swore he was addicted. I've never ever heard of that and I'm honestly a bit scared to try anything than my usual. Why, because I'm already addicted enough, I can't afford to like more of their flavors. read more

Had a good buying experience at Royce. Friend had recommended it saying it was the best chocolate. I decided to stop by to grab some for my mom. I ended up getting two Chocolate Bars "Almond Bitter" for $9.99 each. Staff was friendly. Unfortunately, couldn't try any of the chocolates that I wanted, only the one they had open for samples. Parking validation available too. Mom enjoyed it. Not as "dark" as she would have preferred, and definitely would have liked more almonds, but was good to have her try a new brand. read more

I had heard about ROYCE when the Yelp Elite event posted but I was unavailable the date the event occurred. Still, the idea would dance in my head because I wasn't sure what Japanese chocolate was about. What made it different? I stopped by Uwajimaya on a completely different errand when I saw the sign and insisted a stop was made. I am grateful we did! It is not a very large location - a small boutique shop with white shelving, ideally spaced product, and super helpful staff. They were excellent. They greeted my friend and I as we entered, pointed out a few items, and then stepped back. It caught my attention because it was so polite and I felt free to look at my leisure. I ended up buying these prafeuille berry cube because I figured it would be the guaranteed win. I watched as the salesperson put the chocolate in a bag with a small ice pack. I truly was impressed! The chocolate is lovely. Truthfully I'm not a huge chocolate fan - I find it often just too sweet, too overwhelming. These are perfect. They are quite tiny filled with a fruit flavor that is perfectly balanced. It's really an ideal dessert! I am grateful I stopped in! read more

I always went to shop at this Uwajimaya location but never been here so thanks to a yelp event I got to try this place out. Stopped by for their chocolate tasting event and purchased 2 packs of my favorite royce chocolate - Ghana Bitters. For the tasting I tried the Matcha chocolate (subtle delicious matcha flavor), Au Lait ( creamy smooth silky milk chocolate) & Ghana bitters (rich silky non-bitter dark chocolate). While i loved all of these the Ghana bitters by far were the most delicious of the lot. Sometimes dark chocolate can be bitter but this was was deliciously tasty. I can almost eat atleast half their box in one sitting and I would not even complain. Since the event I have stopped by Royce chocolates multiple times and these can be cute tasty gifts too. I wish their chocolates were a little more fancy in terms of design but the taste compensates for it all so I am not complaining. Keep these chocolates refrigerated but do thaw them for 10-15 mins at room temperature before eating these delicious goodies. I will certainly be back for more. read more

Anyone seeking a luxurious chocolate experience, run to ROYCE' Chocolate! The PNW has countless chocolatier shops, ROYCE' stands out as it's a Nama chocolate made from fresh local cream, seasonal teas, and alcohol (cognac/whiskey/champagne.) I traditionally prefer dark, and bitter chocolate but during the tasting I instantly smiled after trying the Au Lait (a milk chocolate,) the orange notes lingered for quite awhile after tasting it. My husband and I enjoy champagne I purchased Champagne Pierre Mignon. The customer service yielded was beyond spectacular, both ROYCE' attendants were courteous, knowledgeable, and very attentive. I really enjoyed this Yelp Elite event, and will definitely return to shop for my dessert charcuterie for the holidays there are so many other unique confections to explore. read more

I recently saw posts and photos from Eastside Yelp Elites about a YEE hosted at the Royce' Chocolate shop at Bellevue Square. This piqued my curiosity and learned that there's also a shop at Uwajimaya in Seattle's CID neighborhood. Royce' was founded in Hokkaido in 1983, a region known for their cooler climate and rich natural resources. In 2012, Royce' opened their first US flagship boutique shop on New York's Madison Avenue. There are currently 17 shops in the US, with three in WA State: Bellevue, Seattle, and Tukwila. So when The Homie and another college friend were done hanging out and listening to vinyl downstairs, he mentioned that they were headed to CID for lunch and to wander Uwajimaya (8/16/22). Perfect, I asked him to do scope out this shop while there. He later described being provided various samples while onsite. My thoughtful son returned home later with a nice gift bag containing a well insulated pouch with cold pack containing some dark chocolate confection from Royce'. I stashed this perishable gift in the fridge, especially with the forthcoming heatwave. Lots of packaging involved - clearly crafted, packed, and presented with utmost care. I finally unwrapped the plain dark chocolates. He mentioned that there were also cognac ones, but it was good that the unadorned ones were purchased. Using the provided serving paddle, we each tried one piece. Savoring it, then tried another. It is essentially rich creamy ganache that is cocoa dusted in bite size rectangles, not traditional couverture. Makes for a thoughtful, delightful gift for yourself or to share! read more

ROYCE' Chocolate is the best chocolate in the world (yes I know that is a bold statement and yes I stand by that). If you ever visit Japan, this is one of those food items you must purchase and bring back home for family/ friends (and for yourself). It is hard for me to describe their chocolate (I am just talking about their chocolates, not their snacks), but it is creamy and smooth that melts in your mouth. The flavors of their chocolate is just the right balance that you can savor even after you finished a piece of it. With such an experience (every time I have their chocolate), I purchase Royce' chocolate regularly back at home. But because I was shopping at Uwajimaya (which is inside the market), I decided to check them out, thinking it would be nice for me to pick up a box of my favorite chocolates for a friend that we will be visiting in the next few days. When my husband and I entered the store (with our shopping card and grocery items, lol) we were greeted by a friendly sales associate. He asked us if we would like a sample of one of their featured chocolates. We both got a real tiny piece (I have had samples at other Royce Chocolate stores and their samples are significantly larger). Then I was told about the current holiday specials that they had (a few of their holiday specials were on their assorted cookies/ chocolates, etc). I wasn't too sure if my friend would like those items and decided it was best to purchase her a box of my favorite Royce Chocolate, which is from their Nama chocolate collection. I ended up purchasing: Nama Chocolate "Rémy Martin", $21.99- I have not tried this particular flavor before but was told by the sales associate that this has a higher amount of alcohol (double the amount) used, then compared to their other chocolates. I was thinking this would be a nice gift for my friend. Nama Chocolate "Matcha", $19.98- I decided to also pick up myself a box too since I was already here (lol, why not). I have not tried their matcha flavor and so I picked this. But I decided that I would bring both this flavor and the other flavor to my friend's house and let her try both (to introduce her to the world of this beautifully made chocolate) and let her decide which flavor she would prefer (and then this way I can also try both flavors, lol). ------------------------- (Total= $41.98) Initially (before I had decided to let my friend try both flavors), the sales associate helping me wrapped one of the boxes up for me and placed the chocolate in a cute special red bag (complementary wrapping). After I paid for my purchase, I asked the sales associate if he could validate my parking. Please note that if you have never been to Uwajimaya, parking is not free. Parking cost $7.50 for the first hour, $15 for 2-3 hours and then $22 for 3 hours. However, if you make a purchase of $10 (whether it be at the market or any of the businesses in the market), you get the first hour for free (with validation) and a purchase of $20 will get you up to 2 hours for free (with validation). If I lived in the area, I would most likely be a regular (as I am a regular at some of the Royce Chocolate stores back at home). read more

Royce chocolate is delicious! I especially liked their Nama series, which means raw in Japanese. Their cocoa is very rich and tastes incredible. The store is clean and inviting. They have tons of variety, including many seasonal options. I got the matcha chocolates to try, and they unfortunately don't have enough matcha flavor - they mostly taste like white chocolate. All the chocolates I looked at were gluten free, which is always a plus for me. read more

Doesn't taste like anything I had before. Not cold and too sweet like an ice cream but yet creamy and cool bites. Such luxurious bites. They offered a lot of Asian inspired fruity and nutty flavors. They have cool new things like "chocolate chips" as well, too bad I didn't try them. Staffs are extremely helpful and friendly. They recommend me a seasonal item, chestnut flavor and OMG soooo good! I had a great experience at the Royce taste test (thanks Yelp!) in Uwajimaya! Love the ambiance of the shop as well as the easily accessible location. I was offered three chocolate samples to try, all of which were really smooth and creamy. I had no idea that they use milk from cows in Hokkaido, which is what sets them aside! The matcha one was definitely my favorite due to the strong matcha flavor. I ended up buying a box for a friend to try as well :) will definitely be coming back! read more

We're so lucky to have a Royce chocolate in Seattle. It's gonna be so clutch during the holiday gifting season. I was invited to a Yelp tasting event (thank you Yelp!) and was so pleased with the experience. The staff was so professional, yet approachable, and knowledgeable. Of the three chocolates I tasted (ghana bitter nama chocolate, au lait nama chocolate, and matcha nama chocolate), I liked the ghana bitter the best. The cream was just so fresh. Note the other two have some brandy in it. It was really subtle, but if you're not a fan of alcoholic chocolate, you'll want to skip those. I took home a chestnut truffle. They told me it sold out in one day in Bellevue! I can see why, the crunch it has is so nice. Happy fall everyone, go celebrate with Royce chocolate. read more
