The team was scheduled to trim and elevate trees on my property a month ago. They no-showed on the job and didn't call to notify me. I took it upon myself to contact the office so we could reschedule the job. The answering service wrote down my message but I have not heard from the company since. No apology and no attempt to find another day to do the work. I took my business elsewhere and I would encourage prospective customers to do the same. You deserve better service and responsiveness and there are plenty of quality vendors out there who offer that. In my specific case, I recently had six one-hundred foot pines and a large oak removed by Royer in eastern MA. The job placed additional demands on the crew since the pines and oak were on different sides of my lot, work had to be conducted around electric and septic lines, and the crew needed entry on my abutting neighbors' properties. Royer provided certificates of insurance (COIs) to both neighbors as promised and completed the entire job in one day, from 7 AM - 3 PM. The trees where removed with surgical precision and the area was entirely cleaned up -- no evidence left behind of the crane, chippers, log truck, and stump grinder. Just a phenomenal job. read more

Had two trees removed that were well above roof line and next to the house , pine and blue spruce. Royer Tree was outstanding. I've been trying to get Royer out for two months to prune our trees. We've been rescheduled multiple times, but today was the last straw. I called repeatedly to confirm they were coming as scheduled, was told earlier in the week they were, but that we should hear from them a day or two prior to confirm. They never called. My subsequent calls went unreturned. I cut a trip short to be sure to be here for them to do the work, and sure enough, they never showed. Very disappointed. read more

Update: got a call from Royer office saying their guy claimed he wasn't wearing a mask because I wasn't either so he thought it was OK. Not true! I was masked. He didn't just decline to wear one when my wife asked him to - she was on her way outside to meet us - but he was quite rude in doing so. I've had several other tree removal people come to the house; all were either wearning masks or put one on when asked. Why wouldn't you do that when a customer requests it? These guys are the best! They have very fair pricing and do incredible work. They made quick work of 10 large trees I needed removed. I thought for sure they were going to need to tear up my yard to reach the trees way out back, but the crane operator and rest of the crew showed skill in plucking out these huge trees. Stay away from this company. They butchered three trees that I asked them to thin our and remove overhang over my house and a neighbors. instead they indiscriminately removed every branch on all three trees up to roof level (three stories). That was not what I asked for and I am sure that is not what a true arborist would do. When the supervisor came out to look, he said he would have done the same thing, but it was clear he was saying that to protect his company and the employees who botched this job. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW BAD MY EXPERIENCE WITH ROYER HAS BEEN! I will finish this review in full with PLENTY of detail later on but, with the fall coming, I felt compelled to get something posted to help others avoid them. Uncommunicative, horrible customer service, tried to intimidate by threatening legal action when they were clearly in the wrong--this includes Bobby who performs estimates but then doesn't answer his phone when called while the work is being performed incorrectly all the way to the owner. Cut down trees they weren't supposed to and left stumps ranging in height from 3 inches to over a foot of sapplings (nothing that would need to be ground down but should have been cut MUCH closer to grade). I thought he would care about the blatant disregard by his team for the customers SPECIFIC instructions but he was worse than anyone else. Yelled, screamed and acted like a child on the phone. Hung up and refused to answer his phone or communicate to try and work out the issue. Immediately filed in court (must be an indication of how often he has to litigate things which is a testament to horrible service) and when I refused to back down but wanted to mediate the situation like adults he still acted like a child. Was FINALLY able to come to compromise though I am still extremely disappointed in the work performed and astonished that they have been in business as long as they have. They may have been around since 1965 (family company started, I believe by his father) however Alan's father, Ray, must be rolling over seeing how this company is being run if other customers have similar experiences. read more

I booked a large complete tree cut back job around my whole yard. Took a month to get an appointment, after they came right out for the estimate. I took the day off from work to be here and they did not show up and did not call to reschedule or apologize. Tried calling the office, the line went to the Answering Service and they were very nice. I left 4 messages over the course of a couple of days and I have still not received a call back. No apology, no reschedule, no response whatsoever. My time is valuable too you know! I called and I called, several times I was told "oh, they never got back with you, hang on I'll have him call you today" by the person who answers their phones. Not sure where the negative reviews come from but my price was fair and the precision which they removed a large rotted out silver maple was impressive. The job required a crane to lift the tree up and over my house and Bobby and Tommy worked incredible together to balance each section of the tree that was removed. The rest of the crew worked efficiently to clean up and make sure that my property(and my neighbors) looked as it did when they arrived. The crew was above all else professional and friendly, even removing a dead leader that was hanging over my garage. Awesome experience! Nothing but good stuff! The job included the complete removal of a huge spruce tree, among another eight other trees, stumps and all. There were an additional four stumps from previously cut trees. The crew that came out was mild-mannered, professional and courteous. They were quick and very careful not to cause any damage and cleaned up perfectly after the job was completed. They were very accommodating to all requests. The stump removal crew showed up shortly after and made short work of the job. They were also very professional and courteous. The staff was friendly and did a good job on our trees but the process of scheduling was a nightmare and they broke $50+ worth of lawn items and Christmas decorations. Instead of saying anything about the broken items, they stacked them in a corner and I found them.
