Visited during one of my favorite conventions, the true gauntlet of events, Asian American Expo,…read moreAnime Impulse LA, K Play Fest, and Collector's Expo. They were using the Sheraton Conference center side, which is attached to one of the Fairplex's "warehouse" buildings where Collector's Expo was taking place. There's a small hall walkway in, another hall area where there's seating, information about the event, outlets, seating, and super fancy and clean restrooms. The actual conference rooms were being used for TCG tournaments that were going on for the event. Liked that the restrooms were clean and looked nicer and I am sure were cleaned more regularly than the restrooms at the Fairplex. AC was blasting and super strong, great with the hotter January weekend and the amount of people at the event. Great place to rest up even though I'm not specifically there for this Collector's Expo in general.

So this is now our third stay here in the past year... and apparently we're just gluttons for…read morepunishment at this point. We travel with my parents (Marriott lifetime platinum members, not exactly first-time guests), and every single time we've stayed here, we've requested connecting rooms. And not just casually mentioned it--we've called ahead, emailed, and even received confirmation from the front desk that it was "taken care of." Fast forward to check-in... surprise! No notes. No record. No connecting rooms. Again... At this point, it's less of a mistake and more of a tradition. Honestly, if you're looking for consistency, this hotel does deliver--just not in the way you'd hope. We were told this would be a "great teaching moment" for the staff. I'd love to know what curriculum they're using, because 3-for-3 suggests nobody is passing the class. Then there's breakfast. With the hotel at full occupancy, you'd think staffing the restaurant appropriately would be part of the plan. Instead, we were quoted a 40-minute wait because they didn't have enough staff to handle the crowd. Nothing says "relaxing hotel stay" like scheduling your morning around whether you'll be able to eat. Safety-wise... shoutout to my 4-year-old for having better hazard awareness than maintenance. One of the balcony chairs had a large exposed screw sticking out of it. She caught it before it caught her arm open, which is probably not the kind of guest experience the hotel is going for. And the showers? Designed, apparently, for someone no taller than 5'6" with a deep appreciation for low water pressure. If you've ever wanted to feel like you're rinsing off under a mildly enthusiastic garden hose, you're in luck. What's frustrating is that this place was good. That's why we keep coming back. But each visit feels like a noticeable step backward. At this point, I'm not sure we have it in us to roll the dice a fourth time.

The first time we ever visited the Fairplex was for a Harvest Festival…read more Great events at fairgrounds all over the place intended for shopping for friends and family (and yourself) before the holidays hit. Going to a smaller event like that really let us see the scale of this place. It is huge. We had a lot of fun and ate some food from vendors and enjoyed the music and entertainment provided as well. Years later and we have been back three consecutive years for the Los Angeles County Fair. Great fair that is so big it almost feels more like a state fair than just a county fair. We love the different locales on the grounds with the Farm and the Hill. Several buildings are used as exhibit halls. They are chock full of art, sewing, a skating rink, agricultural presentations, and even a stage with Bavarian dancers. We love attending county fairs, state fairs, and festivals of all kinds. It makes it very rewarding when the event has such a place to set up on, and you can spend hours exploring it and likely still not see everything. We'll definitely be back next year.

I had to get there early for a 6 am weigh in so I was able to park right in front. There weren't options for food early so plan accordingly if you arrive early. I just ordered Uber eats because the fight was around 12pm. The venue is clean and spacious and ADCC puts on a great tournament. Highly recommend.
