I paid over $2,000 for a new exhaust and sensor. Today is February 15th, 2024, not even a year ago. My son's car is at Midas, the exhaust system is leaking, the welding that North Smithfield did was awful. There are several holes., (see pictures) I have to replace the exhaust system once again. Look at the pictures taken from underneath the car this morning. North Smithfield Automotive is a nightmare!!!

The good: The manager Mike is knowledge and works both quickly and efficiently. It's easy to make appointments, they have long hours with late days and are even open on Sundays. They have good prices on tires and a good road hazard plan which is imperative for RI driving. They have a lifetime alignment available which means you can get an alignment with every tire rotation. The bad: small waiting area with uncomfortable seating, no snacks/coffee/water or vending. Sure you can walk over to one of the stores in the rest of the plaza, but it feels like their goal is to not encourage people to stay. They do have a bathroom although I've never seen the inside of it. The ugly: if you have your state inspection done they will find any little thing to make sure you can't get out of there without paying a little extra (windshield wipers, marker bulbs, air filters etc). While not wrong, $60 for wipers or a cabin air filter that costs $20 at auto zone or they fail you and make you come back is rough. Last time in they left a piece of razor blade on the passenger seat and got the door jamb full of grease and dirt (new to me used car that had just been detailed so it was really easy to notice). While it wasn't the end of the world, it was sloppy and would make me leery to have major work done there.

During my recent state inspection of my 2021 Toyota Tacoma, I encountered several issues that were…read morenot addressed satisfactorily. The inspection revealed a dime-sized chip on my windshield, which occurred in January 2022. Despite being sealed, the chip was deemed unacceptable. Additionally, the front struts, tires, and rear shocks were also found to be in need of repair. The total cost for these repairs was estimated at $2,657. When I inquired about the necessity of replacing the rear shocks, as I had already done in October due to a squeaking sound, Ricks Auto and Tires informed me that it was recommended to replace both shocks and front struts simultaneously but not necessary. But yet it still failed inspection? However, the squeaking persisted, prompting me to take the vehicle to Smithfield Toyota. There, I was informed that the squeaking was caused by a faulty bushing on my leaf springs. The truck's undercarriage was otherwise in excellent condition. Toyota of Smithfield did not say I needed front struts. Ricks Auto and Tires response was dismissive, stating that Toyota doesn't know what they are looking at. Regarding the windshield, Rick's Auto and Tires indicated he would overlook the chip on the passenger side, as it was sealed. While I agreed with the assessment of the tires and had them replaced at Town Fair Tire, not with Ricks Auto and Tires. I visited the state garage. My vehicle was passed without any issues, and without fixing anything that Ricks Auto and Tires informed me that I was required to make before it would pass inspection. They attempt to deceive customers into fixing issues that were not present. In conclusion, I am deeply concerned about the lack of transparency and accountability in this situation. Ricks Auto and Tires is exploiting people to profit from unnecessary repairs.
