During my recent state inspection of my 2021 Toyota Tacoma, I encountered several issues that were not addressed satisfactorily. The inspection revealed a dime-sized chip on my windshield, which occurred in January 2022. Despite being sealed, the chip was deemed unacceptable. Additionally, the front struts, tires, and rear shocks were also found to be in need of repair. The total cost for these repairs was estimated at $2,657. When I inquired about the necessity of replacing the rear shocks, as I had already done in October due to a squeaking sound, Ricks Auto and Tires informed me that it was recommended to replace both shocks and front struts simultaneously but not necessary. But yet it still failed inspection? However, the squeaking persisted, prompting me to take the vehicle to Smithfield Toyota. There, I was informed that the squeaking was caused by a faulty bushing on my leaf springs. The truck's undercarriage was otherwise in excellent condition. Toyota of Smithfield did not say I needed front struts. Ricks Auto and Tires response was dismissive, stating that Toyota doesn't know what they are looking at. Regarding the windshield, Rick's Auto and Tires indicated he would overlook the chip on the passenger side, as it was sealed. While I agreed with the assessment of the tires and had them replaced at Town Fair Tire, not with Ricks Auto and Tires. I visited the state garage. My vehicle was passed without any issues, and without fixing anything that Ricks Auto and Tires informed me that I was required to make before it would pass inspection. They attempt to deceive customers into fixing issues that were not present. In conclusion, I am deeply concerned about the lack of transparency and accountability in this situation. Ricks Auto and Tires is exploiting people to profit from unnecessary repairs. read more

Had brakes and front end work done on my Dodge 2500. What a mistake. Brakes were fine but completely ruined my front end to the point I can hardly drive it and have been left to figure it out myself. No issues with truck before but after they worked on it will develop a nasty "death wobble" on highway. They have no clue and have washed their hands of it. I bought new tires for my 2013 Mini Cooper S there. They had forgotten the valve caps. That made me question all the work, if you can't get the small things right. They were supposed to balance the wheels and do a front-end alignment. At 50 it would start shaking and just get worse. Then I had work done at Mini of Warwick and had them balance the wheels and do a front-end alignment while it was there. Can get it up to 80 and it drives smooth. My wife got tires there for her Subaru there and it seems okay. I will not be going back there. Took my wife's car yesterday, the tire light was on. Every tire had 20 PSI rather than the 35PSI supposed to have. Never again. read more

Brought my truck for inspection the first week of August. I knew it would fail but had to get it in so my registration didn't expire. I brought it in two weeks ago to address the issues. They called me to tell me it was a cracked exhaust manifold (100% that's what the problem was and they were right) and they would need it for another day as they told me that I would be billed for 5 hours labor. I totally understood it. Expensive job ($700+) but it is what it is. I told them I can't leave it as I needed it because I was going out of town on Friday. After some back and forth, I was assured by the woman in the office they would finish it on Thursday. I made it clear I needed it to tow my camper. Again, I was reassured it would be done. Showed up Thursday around 4 (no calls or status updates) and it was still on a lift! Went to gators for a bite to eat and they called and told me they needed three more hours on Friday! So much for towing the camper....lost a weekend vacation due to their mess up and poor communication. When I went to pick it up and pay, I asked why there was an extra $25 charge and they still charged me the 3% fee to run my debit card!!! Are you joking? After all that transpired and a lost vacation you still charged me to use the card? Have some awareness about customer service!!!! They tried to give me a $50 gift card for what transpired but do the math....$25 for the debit fee, $75 in Uber charges driving back and forth from work in Providence....two lost nights for a weekend getaway with the camper (close to $125 for the two nights I lost). Awesome Job Ricks...here is a $50 gift card to soften the blow of $225 dollars in Uber, debit charges and lost vacations....a net loss of $175 dollars!!! Plus over 700 to fix the truck!!! Make a note, I did not accept the gift card as I will NEVER visit there again. Multiple issues the last few times I've been there (paid to have tires rotated once and they never did it. The tech in the back swore up and down he rotated the tires but he never did and had the audacity to drop F-bombs on me when I questioned his work). The sad thing is I never really had an issue with the quality of work but the customer service is awful and they just don't seem to get it. If you can't do the work on time, don't promise is going to be ready. I took a big hit with them and will never return! read more

I've been coming to Rick's off and on for years. They have quick service and can usually squeeze you in! I called them a few weeks ago due to a problem with one of my tires... they had me come in immediately to check it out and give me an estimate. They were able to order the same exact tires that were on my car, scheduled an appointment NEXT DAY, and even gave me a discount! Taking one star off because main shop and waiting area is superbly old, the seats are uncomfortable, and the smell of motor oil is overpowering. I completely understand that it's a car shop, however it needs a definite spruce. read more

Too forever to order the parts needed for repairs. Partly my fault for telling them to take their time. Previous damage done to the vehicle could not be fixed. Play in the steering wheel has never been the same after it was tampered with at another place. Hard to tell if I was overcharged or not without seeing receipts for the parts ordered. Had cheapest price on a set of very expensive Michelin tires, mounted and balanced 21". Fair priced synthetic oil change and 4 wheel alignment, also performed state inspection YES they will make you remove tint FYI (it's not their fault the state is all over these inspection stations). I had good thoughts about this place originally, even though I was told by many to not go here. I guess I learned it was for good reason. Reason being they take advantage of people. I had an issue with my car, was not starting and when it did it would act a certain way that was not safe. I leave it with them telling them exactly what was happening. $650 dollars later I get my car back, it wouldn't even start in their parking lot when I went to pick it up. It took a few tries. I did eventually get it home drove fine for the 6 minuet drive. Go to drive it the next day it is doing the same exact thing. Same thing NO difference. What did they fix for $650? I bring it back and they wanted to charge close to $400 for the repair, saying they did me the favor. Seriously? You never even fixed the problem the first time. Please be aware they will steal your money and not take responsibility for their faulty work. Do not go here! I should have listened the first time I was told. read more

Took my vehicle there for an inspection was told it needed some work to be done agreed to have the work done with his written estimate of labor and parts.. agreed to have the work done for that price !! then all hell broke out I was getting calls 5 minutes after 5 minutes price of labor kept on going up and up and he was trying to rip me off I stopped him halfway threw the job .. I went back to pick up my vehicle to look at the work that he did ..suddenly I seen liquid coming from my vehicle where he was working with the original work he gaft up my radiator. I didn't take my vehicle in with a radiator leak but I guess I drove off with 1 and a unsafe vehicle ..I drove right to another mechanic to see what damage he did to my vehicle and have his work checked out ..Chad your a ripp off ..can't see you in business for long .. I can't understand why the previous owners allowed you to use their name (Rick's tire) every place I can put a review I'm going to do it and ever person I talk to in town I will tell them your a thief..be aware people you go in there with one problem and you going to come out with many more...!! Went here for an oil change Friday before Christmas. Went next door for a beer while waiting. Took my phone number and said we'll call when it's ready. No call. Go back and they decided to close early. Couldn't get my keys for three days!! He could have cared less. Yah. Whatever it's my business I close when I want. read more

Rude. Negative. Overpriced. In one week's time, I had to go into the shop on five separate occasions; unfortunately that meant five regrettable experiences for me and my family. The mechanics were unnecessarily disrespectful and did not provide me with options, instead they simply told me what work needed to be done and were seconds away from starting before providing an estimated cost or gaining my approval. When inquiring about an inflated price of tire and wheel change, the mechanic threw the keys back at me and said that I could do it myself. After deciding to buy a new car rather than having my engine fixed for an outrageous price at Rick's or purchasing a used vehicle from the shop, the owner proceeded to tell me that the new car I purchased was "crap" and unsafe, which in contradictory to objective statistics and reviews on the car including a five-star crash rating. It was helpful that they always had hands at the ready to work, but that makes me wonder why they aren't getting enough business to keep them busy. If they don't have a significant customer base, that might explain the high prices. HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED. read more
