Criminals! I completed an online form on the steel smith website steelsmithinc.com in order to…read moredownload information. Several days later I was contacted by phone (near the end of the work-day). RED FLAG! The sales pitch went like this: steelsmith is a wholesale company that typically sells to retailers only. But today they are doing things a little differently. I was told that a local retailer in my area had recently shut down causing steelsmith inc to have to liquidate approximately 100 pre-engineered buildings at discounted wholesale prices in a matter of weeks before the end of the year in preparation for a large steel order. But I had to act fast since there were only a few select buildings left, and if they had one available that met my requirements (codes), it could be offered to me at 50% off the regular price. RED FLAG AGAIN! To my surprise, they just happened to have one that would work for me. I told the sales rep that it appeared to be a good deal, but I don't make deals like this quickly, so I would have to get back to him. He told me that the building would not be available if I waited until after the new year because anything that remained unsold at the end of the year would be auctioned, but if I signed an agreement to hold the building today, it would ensure that the building remained in the warehouse without an obligation to buy. I agreed against my better judgment. The form I was sent included a section of fine print that was so small and blurred I couldn't read it. ANOTHER RED FLAG! I also noted that the form requested credit card information. So, I called the sales rep back and told him I wasn't signing the document without being able to read the fine print, and asked why he needed my credit card information if he was just holding the building for me. He replied saying that it's just company policy, but that my card would not be charged. So he sent me another form with the section of fine print completely eliminated; he never did tell me what it said. After the first of the year I received building plans and sketches in the mail. I called steelsmith again 866-603-5053 to find out why I had received diagrams for a building that I had not submitted plans for, since I had not committed to purchasing the building. I was told that they were generic plans meant to give me an idea of what the building design would be like, and once I submitted my plans and signed a purchase agreement, I would be sent more specific diagrams for the building. Wait what? After doing some research, I discovered that Steelsmith, INC in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania had a history of bad business practices and found many complaints of unethical methods and pressure sales tactics very similar to what I experienced. After a couple of days, steel smith called asking me to submit detailed plans for the building, to which I replied that I had decided not purchase a building at this time. After a few minutes of manipulative conversation that was going nowhere, he told me I would be responsible for the deposit that I had initially paid. I told him I had not paid a deposit. He insisted that I had, and faxed me a purchase agreement including a non-refundable deposit that did not exist on the original form, and the section of fine print that was omitted on the original form I signed to hold the building. And guess what the fine print said, "Upon cancellation of order, Buyer and Seller both agree that 50% of the total price equates to probable damages suffered by seller, and shall be paid by buyer to seller immediately after cancellation of order." I immediately contacted my credit card company and discovered that I had indeed been charged several thousand dollars. This is FRAUD! I disputed the charge with the credit card company, and now they've hired a collection agency to come after me for a deposit I did not agree to, on a building that I did not order, cancel, or receive. This company should be sued and put out of business and the owners/employees should have criminal charges filed against them. Stay away from steelsmith inc and all of their affiliates! They are the ones located at 1216 LL Grandview Ave Pittsburgh PA 15211. I believe this company is owned by Donald Gilmore. The Pennsylvania Secretary of State has them listed as a foreign corporation entity number 4352453 but no other information listed which does not surprise me!

While conducting my due diligence on the company before purchasing my 8, 400 sq. ft. building the company appeared to have a good product but was lacking in erecting. When I expressed my concern to Shawn Cortner, VP/Sales Manager he assured me that this (erecting) "is what they do best" and "they would really shine" in this area. He promised to send me a highly experienced crew that would complete my "small project" in 4-6 weeks depending on the weather. Shortly after the crew arrived major problems began to develop. The 28 year old foreman confessed to me this was his first job and that he assembled his crew from Criag's list and they had zero building experience! After 3 months I had to let them go and hire a local crew to finish and correct all their mistakes. The building immediately leaked and still does to this day. Therefore today I have a brand new $600, 000 Corle building on a $1, 000, 000 property that leaks! All thanks to Steelsmith, Inc. Four more issues concerning Steelsmith Inc. Before I paid my down deposit Shawn was calling me everyday and sometimes twice a day. As soon as I paid my deposit and signed the contract he quit calling and would not return my calls. It was like I didn't exist once he got my money. Also there were numerous delays in getting the engineering plans which stalled the entire project. When attempting to be compensated for Steelsmith's many business mistakes I dealt directly with the president, Don Gilmore, and gave him numerous opportunities to "make things right." He also ignored me and ultimately I had to take him and Steelsmith to court where I prevailed. The final issue is another one that involves integrity. Steelsmith presents themselves as a manufacturer when in fact they are only brokers for Corle Building Systems and others. My advise to everyone is to avoid the severe disappointment and heartache I experienced and deal directly with the building manufacturers! There is no service that Steelsmith can provide that the manufacturers can not.

This is my favorite auto mechanic in our area. Michael is a super ethical and competent mechanic…read morethat has a nice way of telling you what needs repaired or serviced. They go out of their way to serve their customers. One time, they even had someone give me a lift home and picked me back up because the repair was going to take a long time and they didn't want me to have to sit there. Now that's service! I have an older car so I am always worried when I take it in for the annual inspection. Michael and his team never rip you off by making up repairs or anything even on an older car which I totally appreciate. They have done both major (replaced my AC system) and minor (old change, tire rotation and inspections) work for me and I could not recommend them any more. My only gripe is their driveway which sometimes gets deep ruts in it that's hard on our other car which sits low to the ground. They do try to keep up with it to make it smoother but it's difficult since it's just gravel. Minor gripe for such a great place.

Michael and his staff rise way above what anyone would expect from ANY business!! They approach their auto services no just as expert technicians but just good, solid, honest people! They'll spell out and explain what you can expect and recommend a wide array of options and advice! Any neighborhood is blessed to have such a awesome business - this is one of the Best kept secrets in West View.. and might I say (having also lived throughout western PA).. all of Pittsburgh and surrounds!!
