Sadly the good cut honeymoon with Richard Long is already over and it was a hair massacre. The cut is very bad, uneven & all over the place and different lengths. I was hoping he understood thick hair but sadly not. He blamed my hair for being curly when it's not. I'm left with short uneven hair that look absolutely horrible. I'm a guy who loves to change my hair all the time, always picking different styles ranging from long to short. I went to Johnny because of the good reviews but he did not do a good job and when i asked if he can fix since I'm not happy with the result he is saying we agreed to it beforehand. What I agreed to was the inspiration photo which he did not deliver on and is saying my hair is dark. Lol yes that is why I came to get it dyed. It was my first time getting "balayage" and he didn't even touch my roots which is usually included in the service to create a natural flow. I feel taken advantage of since it was my first time and didn't really know what to tell him at the end. Since he isn't even willing to correct the color, I wouldn't recommend him. I was charged for a balayage even though it's not what he provided. So disappointed go somewhere else ladies! Especially if its your first time. read more

It was immaculate with great energy, and the owner was a Sweetheart. I drove from SF to LA just to do my hair with Johnny. He did a phenomenal job on my hair. Johnny's very talented with such a beautiful aura. He was very educational through the process of doing my hair since I had it damaged by another Salon in SF. He also gave me a beautiful haircut. If you're looking for an experienced waxer/esthetician...Ana is the best!!!! I had my first Brazilian (hard wax) and VAGACIAL today!!! Wow! The whole experience from start to finish was nothing short than amazing! The bathroom was clean. Fully stocked with toilet paper, paper towels. And all the extras you might need. From Wipes, tampons, to Poopy spray. As I entered her treatment room I immediately felt at ease as she set the vibe with some calming music and a bottle of water. She described what she was doing every step of the way. Which helps because I was a little nervous. The whole service lasted about an hour. But it didn't even feel that long. Convo was flowing so good that it was over before I even knew it. My lady bits feel so smooth. I will definitely make this part of my self love/care routine from now on. All I can say is : nuh uh. Covid safety protocol is "somewhat observed"; when it's convenient though. Stylists constantly take down their masks to have conversations and forget to put them back on. Salon is overcrowded (see next paragraph), and there's no chance for safe distancing ... or not being bumped next to another soul. Apparently the salon "absorbed" another salon (Dej?) so it's overcrowded - the place feels chaotic, messy and frankly - not clean, even it is. I was refered by the owner to a stylist ... who constantly stated one thing and then went in a different direction. On each occasion (of 3) there was "a misunderstanding" because she had not bothered to write down my time. Then she'd blame me, rather than acknowledging she didn't write down what we'd agreed. My last appt I was told she would call me to let me know what time the next day she could see me. A day before the appointment I still hadn't heard so called the salon, got put on hold and the owner comes back saying it's at "2 o'clock". I repeat it back twice to make sure I've gotten it right. I show up and she says that I'm an hour early. There was also the matter of her insisting - arguing with me - she wanted to do a service because "the last person really screwed up your color and I want to do it right and I don't want you to be worried about the cost ..." Then after the service is done, she tells me the receptionist will take care of my bill. I other words : I was charged. In hindsight I ABSOLUTELY should've seen that I allowed an open door by agreeing to her insisting she do it gratis. When it became crucial to resolve the issue with the owner (stylist was "too busy yo deal with this!"), the owner was initially kind about the situation; however in a follow up phone call he "welcomed", he completely reversed his position: instead of listening to valid feedback he insisted on sharing bad experiences with other customers, he's "been in the business for 32 years" and knows all the tricks"... When I shared I initially left a positive review on yelp out of good faith, he misunderstood what I stated, and exclaimed, "I don't give a damn about Yelp!"... Okay. Pluses: great location in the heart of Studio City. Great espresso machine. It looks like the salon was beautifully built with quality materials originally; but a lot of it is worn down; particularly the stations, the chairs and the shampoo bowls. Downsides: no parking. No parking lots, no valet, and you'll never find a space on the street because of its location. Employees there at 9 am get the street parking. I was fibbed to being told by my stylist to park "in all the easy parking a street behind." I literally circled for 10 minutes for parking; and finally parked four blocks away; fine during the day but not once it gets dark. While I'm sure that there's a lot of great stylists in the salon, I would not recommend with the current situation. read more

Well I came here thinking that they can give me a better hair cut since they charge more. Medina was my hairstylist I don't know any. I saw people coming out with good hair cut but I'm very disappointed with mine. It's not clean and has was too short like 1-2 cm from my scal I just covered it by using the other side. I've had no luck of finding a good hairstylist for short here like in Philippines. I asked them for someone good for that specific cut, but they gave me Medina I saw some of the cuts beside me from other stylist and they look great I showed a pic that I would want to but she did not understand the assignment! My experience started with a simple #yelp search. I found a few salons near my residence and messaged them simultaneously. Damon, the owner of Rua, responded to my request for a next-day appointment with in 5 minutes. I used the coupon of free conditioning treatment as advertised on yelp which left my hair strong, healthy and conditioned. My cut was a long bob, or Lob if you will. I also tasked him with blending in my old bangs which I've been growing out. He perfectly executed both and then gave me a sleek blowout. I am very happy with the service received, the price was fair, the parking is easy, the salon is large and pristine. Finds like this make me happy to be a helper! Thank you, Damon. Cvetelina (Lina) is the best stylist I have ever met. She is not only talented and professional, but also kind and genuine. She can make anyone, even people not used to salons, feel comfortable. She transformed my frazzled, mutant-zebra hair--distressed from various drugstore highlighting kits, dyes, and DIY bleaches--into shiny, healthy, hair, beautifully cut, colored, and styled. It was the worst experience of my life. After asking for a ginger color (as I always do at the place that I usually go) I am turning somewhere between brown and red. She washed my hair 4 times in total (because I told her that it wasn't the color I wanted) she kept lying to me, saying that after 1 one week, I will have the color I wanted (false). I wanted to give a try to the cut, and after the first time that a washed my hair, by myself, I am discovering that It is the worst cut that I ever had also. (See on the picture) I asked for a straight square haircut, i think we can all see, it is not what I have. I am never putting any review, it is my first one, but for real paying $120 for that (after discount), it is the biggest joke of my life. I am so happy with the haircut I got last week from Damon! Prior to going into Rua Salon, I did a lot of research on Yelp since my tragic last hair experience (@ This or Die Salon - see my review for those sad deets) kept me away from a salon for a year and a half! I'm so glad I found Rua on Yelp! I requested Damon, the owner, because I liked pics I saw of his work and I saw that he has worked with different hair types. My hair is frizzy and fussy.. and long and curly. I showed him a picture of a cut I saw on Yelp and asked him for something similar. From start to finish, this was a great experience. Making an appointment was easy and the woman booking the appointments was sweet and helpful. When I first met Damon, he took his time listening to what I wanted and also looking at my hair before beginning anything. I think this is crucial to getting the right haircut and I have never really had a stylist spend the time on customizing a look for me. He helped me land on the right color to cover my grays and make adjustments to the cut I was asking for to better suit my hair but still capture the look I was going for (shaggy, wavy with bangs). The permanent color left my hair feeling healthier and shinier and covered every last gray. The cut has body and is also very wearable. I left feeling great and with a great haircut which was a big change that I really needed. I highly recommend Rua Salon. They are absolute professionals and the salon is clean and elegant. Being treated with respect and patience is something I do not take for granted and I will certainly be back for a bang trim or future cut & color from Damon. It was such an amazing experience overall. Every step was fun and relaxing, and I could tell I was in good hands, especially given how nervous I was about doing a very big chop (from about hip length hair, now to shorter than shoulder length) I liked being able to contact them through yelp, set an appointment, and giving them an idea of what I'm looking for beforehand! Damon kept a wonderful flow of conversation and made sure to get input on how I was feeling about my hair cut (although I had a grin from ear to ear the whole time so I'm sure that said plenty) he also asked about whether I'd be styling it regularly or more so wake up and go, and I said I'm more of a roll out of bed and go person, and he definitely cut in plenty of texture and volume to make it very easy to just roll of out bed and give my hair a good finger comb and shake. Finding a good stylist to do blonde is a huge trial and error process. Sometimes you leave the salon basically orange. Tiana always does an AMAZING job fixing my blonde! I'm naturally a very dark brunette and she does a wonderful job not only turning me blonde but keeping me blonde. I went to this salon on June 7th to get a haircut. The place itself was very clean and well-kept and the receptionist was polite when she offered me refreshments. I went with the intent of getting a much needed haircut. I hadn't cut my hair for 2 years and it had a lot of split ends. I have a lot of thick hair. I called ahead of time and said that I needed a stylist who would guide me towards a haircut that framed my face and went with my style. I don't remember my hair stylist's name but I believe it started with a T. I am able to identify her in person. Before shampooing, she quickly cut my hair extremely short, a little above my shoulders when it was originally chest length. I politely reminded her that I don't style my hair with a flat iron or curling iron, I just put product on it and go about my day. I have to give credit to the conditioning and the products that she used. They left my hair very silky and feeling healthy. But she spent little time thinning out my hair even though that's what I needed the most because my hair is thicker than most folks. At the end, I'm sure she noticed how poofy the style was because she straightened it without asking me if it was okay. Did she just throw the "beachy waves" option out of the window because it was tedious, or because it would look awful with the haircut she gave me? She gave me various options in the beginning but never mentioned them again. After I went home and showered, my hair returned to its natural state. It became very clear that it was just a shorter version of my old hairstyle. Though I had not requested it, I know that the hairstylist was marvelous at styling my hair to look straight...but unfortunately did a poor job at cutting. For now, I will wait for this $65 Dora haircut to grow out. read more
