I went here because of the reviews but it seems I have higher expectations than most. It was among the worst haircuts I've had in years. She spent too much time on the back and sides, and cut shorter than I asked for. The top is choppy and uneven, seemingly like an afterthought. I'm so glad that I found Jaclyn when I moved down to LA! She is so talented at coloring hair and great at listening to what her clients want! We've done different things with my base color and with highlights over the years, and she really listens to what I want and then makes my hair look amazing. I like a very natural look for my highlights, and she knows how to make them look lived in and subtle, just the way I love them. She also has done both a lighter and darker base color, depending on what I asked for, and made them look extremely natural, which can sometimes be tricky with toning brown hair. It took me forever to agree (with myself) to go get my hair done. The last time I got color done (at a different salon) it wasn't what I wanted and I kind of gave up for a while. Recently, though, it was time to get a trim and I decided last minute to play with the color! I hit up a lot of places and couldn't commit and I was walking down Ventura blvd. one day and decided to stop by C The Salon. I asked if there was anyone working who was familiar with curly hair - if there's any hesitation when asking someone this, I don't even risk it. I was guided to speak to Alex who is comfortable and knowledgable about it. If you have curly hair, you get it- 1inch off is really more because of the bounce, how you cut it matters, in my case the top of my hair is a completely different texture than the hair underneath, close to my scalp- it's an ongoing issue and I was happy to find someone who said they knew how to tame the beast that is my hair. I made an appointment with Alex for later that week and told her I'd want to go red after not coloring my hair for about a year. At my appt I showed her pictures of what I wanted and PRO TIP - pics of what I DIDNT want. I have never had anyone nail the color so perfectly. See attached photos for the example and then for how mine came out. Now, it's red so unfortunately/knowingly it's going to fade and change color quickly but that comes with the territory of going red- but it's an absolutely beautiful color, we did an all over gloss since my hair already has color dimensions from the sun/previous treatment. I walked out with my hair soft, shiny and the perfect shade of red! The cut was good, as well. I made it clear I didn't want to take a lot off, but also enough to make it feel and look a little healthier. She explained she was going to cut the top and bottom different and that I have a one week window to come back if it ends up being uneven after my first wash. I'm big on upkeep so I'm always open to suggestions (within reason) from my stylist to help keep my hair shiny and colorful for as long as possible, so I picked up a few products on my way out as well. I'm surprised at the negative reviews of Therese on Yelp. I was referred to Therese at C the Salon from a friend of mine who's been going to her for over 20+ years. She raved about Therese so I decided to try her out. I have curly hair, and I've been to many, many salons in L.A. for many years. From Beverly Hills, to West Hollywood, to the Valley. I've had $80 haircuts and $300 haircuts. I've stayed with someone for 15+ years, and left people after only once. When it wasn't working for my hair anymore, I decided to try someone new. I saw Therese a few weeks ago for a cut. She was awesome! I came in with "longish" hair that was desperately needing some shape, but where I could still wear curly or blown out. Therese gave me an amazing hair cut. She also introduced me to an amazing styling product for curly hair that leaves it absolutely frizz free. She understood my hair, and understood what I wanted. She has curly hair, and I most of her family members have curly hair, so she knew what kind of cut I needed. This is one of the best cuts I've ever had. I returned to Therese yesterday for color and highlights. I've had my hair colored and highlighted for years. When my son was born almost two years ago, it was difficult to go get my color done so six months ago I tried color from esalon.com (online) and wasn't too happy with the results.
