They create some of the most beautiful and unique custom tile-work in the world. 2. I own a salon in NE Minneapolis, which is located down the street from the Mercury Mosaic workshop. Not only are they local (which I love), they are run by the incredible Mercedes. As a female business owner myself, I love supporting other inspiring women-run businesses! I have followed MM on social media for a bit now, and have admired them from afar. I recently expanded my salon, and knew I wanted every aspect of my new space to have a story. Being a small business owner, you often have to prioritize function over esthetic. It was important for me to create a beautiful environment for my team, and our incredible clients, so I reached of to Mercury Mosaics via Instagram and asked if they had any broken tiles, or "remnants" that they would be willing to sell me. I was hoping to create a backsplash for my backbar area, and was planning to do it on my own (now that I understand the intricate process of tile installation, I realize what a ridiculous idea that was...), Not only did they respond, but Mercedes reached out and said she knew of my salon, and had a "crazy" idea. She wanted to help us design, create and install a custom "Steller" mosaic. MM also connected us with local artist, Josie Lewis. Josie's artwork is what inspired my designer and myself when it came to color scheme for this incredible mosaic. Josie is now a Steller client, and we are forever a Josie fan! The gift that Mercury Mosaics gave Steller Hair surpasses any expectation I could ever have had.  This mosaic is a visual representation of community, support and the beauty of connection.  We can't ever repay these incredible people (and I'm a competitive gift giver, so that is very difficult for me..) but what we can do is use this mosaic to share a story of kindness in an often times unkind world.  This mosaic creates an atmosphere and experience for our clients that reflects our mission and values Mercury Mosaics is so much more than a tile company. Mercury Mosaics is a collaboration of real people who are passionate about their craft, clients and community. I will forever be proud to display their beautiful work, and to call them friends.

Being the huge fan of home remodeling shows that I am (the fill up my DVR), I was debating on…read moresanding and refinishing our wood floors myself. After a few months of planning, watching Youtube videos on installing wood floors and trying to convince my wife, cooler heads prevailed. So I sucked up my pride and called in the three top recommended Flooring companies in Minneapolis. Our job was a little unique (in my mind), because it involved replacing some cherry wood boards in the high traffic zones and sanding and refinishing the floors in the low traffic areas. I received three quotes as well as did quite a bit of research online and with friends. One friend went through a big box store and in my mind didn't quite get the deal I was looking for. The best quote and most straight forward contractor was a guy from Rhodes Hardwood named Dusty. I trust contractors about as far as I can throw them, which at last attempt was halfway across a job site. However, Dusty seemed honest and straight forward. The wife and I both felt like he wasn't trying to sell us on a larger job scope, but he was more than willing to stay inside the budget and requests. We didn't want to redo the whole house, and he didn't pressure us to do so. We ended up sanding and refinishing more than I expected just to get a great blended look, and the work looked great and we were able to keep more floor than expected. I included a picture of the transitional zone. He even told us "he wasn't going to charge extra for the extra work." Although I wish I could say that I was man enough to refinish my old wood floors like an HGTV pro, I suppose a guy with a happy wife is even more of a star.

The did an excellent job and completely changed the look of my house. My wife and I are elated with our second floor now. I really appreciated the online estimate calculator on their website as well as the ability to email pictures and dimensions for more accurate estimations rather than scheduling an in-home estimate. I performed some prep work myself (removing prior floor coverings and baseboard trim) which helped save a bit of money. The job cost a little less than I thought it would and in my opinion was an excellent value. I highly recommend these guys.

Had an experience that was disappointing. I had a defective floor that Hamernicks had installed…read more First they would not help me until the builder of my home paid a delinquent bill, that had nothing to do with my floor. This took about a month. Then they said they filed a claim with the Manufacturer. Two months later told me that they mistakenly had not filed the claim. Once all this was done. They gave me an estimate and then said they had made a mistake and raised the price $1100. I contacted their CEO and made her aware of the problem. Never heard back, so my fear is that their lack of concern for their customer starts at the very top. My opinion is if you are looking for an efficient, accurate and customer focused company. Pass on this one.

1) Tile dimensions are erratic and inconsistent, resulting in a challenging install that takes…read moreabout 50% longer - with good results only if you know what you're doing and use a laser level 2) Owner cancelled our order when we complained (without us ever asking for monetary compensation) , leaving us scrambling to find a replacement to complete the job. We found the tile dimensions were all over the place - more like rhombus than square. This was a tedious and challenging installation. The tiles were not provided on a web (which would have helped tremendously) and, after comparing competitor tiles, saw the glaze is allowed to slop over the sides, changing the dimensions. The owner recognized us when we complained online to warn other customers. Because we had a second order, he unilaterally cancelled our remaining order. We found this childish on his part, but we ended up finding a much better option - and saved so much time. We found a competitor's tile that, while also hand-cut and hand finished, were perfect - and provided on a web. Now we have a beautiful accent wall that brings in the colors of the stained glass window. I'll never let a customer order from this outfit again.

That alone should let you know how we feel about their superior work and professionalism. For this project we wanted to install hardwood floors in our living room and upstairs landing. We just wanted to tie all the rooms together since Dave's did another job about a year ago. Everything is simple from the quote, demolition, installation and sanding to the finish. Communication is great and you always know where they are in the progress. Absolutely no surprises is the 3 times we have used them. Kelly did our second job and we requested him to do this job too. He is the absolute best. A perfectionist and super cool guy. Another awesome job by Dave's Flooring and the only flooring company I recommend to my friends.

I paid for 3 coats of poly and an additional "radcoat" supposedly to make the floors more durable…read more They sanded down the middle, did not do the corners or edges at all. After I complained they scraped off the poly and somewhat fixed the corners. Not great, but better. Applied one more coat and then the final coat so I got one less coat then I paid for. First time they left the doors unlocked, second time they left them not only unlocked but wide open in sub zero weather. The house was vacant so I guess they thought that was ok. When I asked them about it they said it was hard to lock old doors and hard to make old floors look good. I thought that was what they did? It was a 1940's house so not ancient. They have every excuse in the book ready when you call to complain. Not the same floor company I used to get for all my rehabs. Very sub par work which it appears to be from a variety of sub contractors. Sad that what was once a good business is now just a scam operation cutting corners whenever they can. Check all reviews - wish I had.
