We specifically drove to Sayulita to have a Ruben sandwich at Ruben's. Our friends were raving about it. We had to wait about 10 minutes for a table, which was perfect, as it gave is a little time to look around at all the trinkets and various wares in this busy tourist town All 4 of us ordered the same thing. While the taste of the Ruben was really appealing, the pastrami on my sandwich was a little gristley. The fries were tastefully seasoned and plentiful. My biggest problem, having zero to do with the restaurant, was the BLARING electronic music on the corner. It was hard to hear each other talking. I wasnt expecting it to taste like a US NY deli Ruben and it did not, but it wasnt bad. I'm not sure I'd go there again, with all the other choices. read more

This is as close to an American style Diner as you will find in Sayulita! I don't say that has a bad thing but with so much culturally authentic places to eat in Sayulita, my girls just wanted a break every once in a while and eat a corn dog with French fries! the food is ok but the service was excellent. My youngest loves this place and would give it 5 stars easily! I will say that I ordered a BBQ Chicken salad here one day for lunch and it was pretty tasty! Everything here is absolutely delicious. If you go to only one American style lunch place in Sayulita pick this place!! The sandwiches are super yummy and my favorite is the classic cheeseburger with a side salad. It's really one of my favorite cheeseburgers ever! My mom got a salad with shrimp that was also amazing. Rubens is the place to go when your tired of Tacos and Mexican Food. I would have to say that out of the 50 or so restaurants in Sayulita at least 40 have tacos. I had the Ruben sandwich which was really good. Sliced Pastrami, Turkey, Cheese and Sauerkraut, grilled to perfection. This sandwich comes with a generous amount of fries. They also serve Heinz Ketchup which is a lot better than some of the watery Mexican ones. I was craving a good cheeseburger towards the end of my vacation and Rubens is one of the only places where you can get a burger in Sayulita. Everything was great about the burger except for the most important part, the beef patty. It just did not impress me much with the taste and texture. I would recommend sticking with the sandwiches. Love love love this place! If you need a break from tacos, Ruben's is perfect. Good hamburgers and club sandwiches, plus the sides are great. Whether you go with fries or my fav the Asian noodle salad, you can't go wrong. Service today wasn't the best, but usually they are great. New counter is less walk up than before. Location is convenient for a to go order to eat in main beach. Chairs on sidewalk also. A must stop for us when in town. read more

We just arrived in Sayulita, weary from travel and were really hungry. This place is unassuming and sort of a basic hole in the wall place, but don't be fooled. I ordered a cheeseburger for my travel partner and a shrimp burrito for myself. It's so tasty, quick and reasonably priced. Maybe one of the best burritos I've ever had. And a huge portion to boot. Ruben's was a total staple for us during our stay in Sayulita. I know, we were skeptical at first as well - a place called RUBEN'S? Sounds like boring American food, not cool Mexican food! Boy, were we wrong. Ruben's is a great lunch stop; their fish is always fresh, and their portions are huge. I tried the quesadilla on the first day and it was jam packed with chunks of mahi mahi, tons of cheese, and really flavourful salsa. Boyfriend had the fish wrap and I was immediately envious - it was a huge wrap that looked delicious! Of course, I stole a bite and the next day we came back and shared a wrap. It was too good not to! There isn't much space to sit here, but I noticed a lot of people just getting take out and heading back to the beach. The raised seating area is a great place to sit, though, and it's lovely to people watch from the bar as you look out over the street. The service is quick and friendly, and the servers have good English. The prices are great and I'd highly recommend trying this place out! read more

One of the best places I've been! The portions were generous and the food was great! I recommend the quesidillas! An additional plus to this restraunt is the location in town. Great seating for people watching! Just be prepared to get swamped with street vendors attempting to sell you inexpensive rings/necklaces/stuffed animals etc etc. My overall recommendation :get the chicken quesidillas and a few cold coronas!
