I needed a break from tacos and enchiladas so I yelped for a burger. This place popped up walking distance from my apartment. It's tucked back in a little neighborhood and was very unassuming. Man was I happily surprised! The owner (I believe?) was behind the counter with her young adorable son. I ordered the Hawaiian burger (PINEAPPLE!) with fries and a beer. It smelled SO good, and I was not even surprised that it tasted even better. Her son helped to serve me - brought out like... seven different dipping sauces, pickles, and jalapenos. I devoured the burger - and the fries were perfectly fresh and crispy. I was reading a book and sitting on the patio and they didn't mind me camping out for a while. Her son was super quick to keep my beer refilled and clear plates. After I was done, he even brought out a super fresh little platter of cucumber, jicama, celery and carrots with lime and tajin. Delicious little treat. After a while the owner even brought me over a little bowl of homemade soup she was making to try! SO NICE, SO ACCOMODATING! Payment was super quick and easy. I went there on a Sunday afternoon and enjoyed trying the mushroom and beef burger with fries and a cold chelada beer. The staff was friendly and the burger and fries were very delicious too. The restroom was clean and all of the tables were neat and tidy too. Prices are very reasonable, so if you're looking for a great burger at a reasonable price, this is it. They squeezed oranges after we ordered juice. Right there, a good sign. The burgers are hand formed, nicely crusted while hot and moist inside. The bun is toasted with butter on all four faces. The condiments are excellent and generous, the fries are pleasantly seasoned and cooked just right. If you're into a well done local hole in the wall place, give La Chingona a try! By any standards, they make great burgers. After we ordered, the owner came over to our table and said that what we ordered was too boring and suggested that we try something more exciting.....lol. When i asked him if he's trying to upsell us so he can make more $, he said not at all and explained that the burgers were his babies. To him, it wasn't about the money, it was about the food! We were glad that he suggested other items as they were FANTASTIC! We had the Philly cheesesteak burger and the surf & turf burger (which shrimp). Service was very friendly. Food came within 10 minutes. Location is on a quiet side street just a few short blocks off of the main drag in the hotel zone. Small place with bar. Was a good place to watch the football game. I had the BBQ bacon cheeseburger here and I will let you know that being an "American sized" burger eater this is nothing like any burger youve ever had. The bacon is so good and real, cheese was dripping off the patty but the beef really does the dish. Fresh never frozen greasy burger with herbs and spices. They season the meat so it has real flavor. This has become my favorite local restaurant. You don't think about burgers in Mexico, but the food is GREAT, even for the states or Canada. This place is fantastic and the service is AMAZING. My husband, 3 year old daughter and I were in town for vacation and getting pretty tired of tacos so we decided to head over to La Chingona for some burgers. We were not disappointed! We are from the Denver area in Colorado and are spoiled with great restaurants but these burgers might be the best we've ever had. My daughter loved the chicken nuggets and fries, my husband loved his shrimp burger and my mushroom burger was the best I've ever had. The service from Ellie was great, the atmosphere was nice and the beer was cold. We returned for a second meal and in hindsight should have eaten here even more. It is operated by a German guy, pretty cool place and the burger is delicious. The meat is marinated and local ice tea is good too.
