Matzoh ball soup and potato pancakes were ok but the burgers were bland and didn't have much toppings. Also when we got to the restaurant at 6:30 on a Monday they were actually closed and the door was locked. a person cleaning up inside saw me after a few minutes and I got my food but something to be aware of that they may close earlier than their hours indicate. read more

We stayed at the nearby County Inn and this spot was recommended to us for a carry out meal. My husband picked up our order, returned to the hotel and realized we had not been given any napkins or silverware to eat with, even though we had called in our order ahead and mentioned we were staying at a hotel. Other reviews raved about matzah ball soup, but it was nothing special as it contained one "baseball-sized" matzah ball and pretty much nothing else and it was extremely salty. Rubin sandwich may be good if eaten on site, but didn't travel well. One side of bread was soaking wet from a 2-minute drive back to hotel. read more

Solid food and lots of deli classics. It has a classic dinner feel to it with good friendly service. I ordered the pastrami and corned beef combo sandwich, its a 3 layer monster which I was able to devour. Also had the matzoh ball soup, it hit the spot and warmed me right up. Perfect soup for dealing with all this snow. My co-worker order the tuna melt which he swears by, its the best he ever had. Will be hitting it up next time I'm in town. read more

Great food and friendly environment with a full bar. A hidden little gem in Elyria where I will return time and time again.

A small little restaurant by Lowes and across the street from midway mall, hides a treasure trove of good food and great value. Mainly a knife and fork sandwich shop, the menu is diverse and has alot of cultural specialties like perogies and sourcraut balls. Overall the service has been a little rough, its almost like they are put off if you ask for a refill, but the food is great and good size portions and the atmosphere is classic diner meets fine dining. Extensive menu, but most everything was frozen, cooked to order Stick with the deli selections, or maybe the daily special. The sides are just a generic bag of chips - kinda shotty. A 1/4 lb burger was $6, while a 1/3 lb burger was $8 - a little pricey considering the chips (and nothing else). I ordered the Beef and Latkas. Basically this is a corned beef sandwich made out of potato pancakes and corned beef. The corned beef wasn't bad. Seemed to be a little processed but not bad. From there we drove off a cliff. The two potato pancakes were dry, very dark in color and had absolutely no taste. In fact, they were downright terrible. It was almost like they came pre made like toaster waffles and someone warmed them up. Please understand that I'll eat just about anything.....but yuck. I added a very small bowl of apple sauce for $2 and landed up using that and a small container of sour cream that came with the meal in an attempt to moisten up these things. It didn't work. My friend had a different sandwich and said it was good. $33 was a bit pricy for what we got. read more

i've ordered from rubins, takeout plenty of times and the food has always been excellent. the problem i experienced on my last visit is when i paid with my credit card and checked my banking statement a few days later, i've come to find out that the waitress that took my takeout order added a $5.00 tip onto my bill. I'm not aware that this is common practice with this restaurant, and if it is, I would like to be informed of it! Their corned beef sandwiches are excellent, but I'm sorry to say that I will not be ordering from there anymore. So, a word of caution to whoever orders takeout and pays with a credit card, if you don't want to give a tip take extra care when signing your receipt. read more

No complaints . Waitress was good and friendly. Food was everything you would expect, prices reasonable and portions large,but not excessive. Service was fine. Decor was lacking a bit, but the place was clean. Lots of families eating out, must be a popular place for locals. I would go back here ! read more
