I tried a bowl during my lunch. I wanted to try something new since I always get the delicious fish tacos. The quinoa bowl was surprisingly delicious. My expectations weren't high. The only thing is that for $10 I would expect it to have more quantity of food in it. The bowls are the same size as the poki bowl down the street and for the same price the bowl gets filled to the top. That's why I gave it 4 stars. Hello Ralph. I us love this location but last Friday night, 8/28, I ordered a bowl with grilled Mahi. Usually the nice sized piece of fish is grilled to perfection, moist and tender. I always enjoy Rubio's! This location is closest to our home but oddly it's the one I eat at the least. This evening I stopped by for some carryout and it was pretty busy. The entire team was hard at work but the guy at the front counter named Luke was seriously hustling. Answering phones, packing orders, running the register... all at the same time while still being friendly and courteous!! The world needs more people like Manny (one of the employees here.) I ordered over the phone, and he provided excellent service. I arrived at the store, and was greeted by him. He was super professional and just genuinely kind. A lot of fast food employees tend to not really care about the customer, and kind of 'pretend' to care. But after my experience, and seeing the way Manny treated other customers, I could tell he truly wanted every customer to walk out with a smile. The rest of the staff is great as well of course. The food is always well made. I wouldn't necessarily say it's to die for, but you can never go wrong with it, and they have a wide variety of different options. For the type of place it is, Rubio's has pretty good food. The fish tacos, while not the best in San Diego, are also very good. But damn it, why do you have to hire possibly the dumbest morons on the planet to take orders and work the cash registers? I just cannot get over how badly trained these people are. And don't even try to indicate that your order is "to go" before they ask you--you see, they have to punch in everything in a delicate, precise order and if you say "to go" too soon, you will get the dumbest death stare you've ever seen. A great place for fresh fast food This is a fast moving store- a ton of business, especially at lunch time. The staff do their best to keep up with the pace and the food is consistently hot, fresh, and made to order. This place is so hit and miss. Ordered a burrito with cauliflower rice (trying to watch carbs). Paid an extra $2 for that, which I'm fine with. Problem is, there was hardly any "rice" in there. Burrito was so flat and I was still starving after. My son ordered the same burrito with regular rice and his was huge. Ate here tonite with my wife since years back. Absolutely a waste of money and probably got 3 oz of fish total for $45 total on dinner. The quesadilla with lobster(look at their big advertising poster, you cant miss it) inside, full of lobster. The poster says Mas quesadilla with lobster. So it means more cheese. I ask for that and i got 4 small pieces of lobster in the whole quesadilla order and mostly cheese. Rip off do not order it. The whole $45 order was **it food. I always get the shrimp quesadilla here. The shrimp burritos are really good too. Service is always good and inviting. Food is fresh and quality. It is my favorite Rubio's to visit in San Diego. The order was screwed up by this arrogant little girl who was snippy and rude. A lovely person named Tracey was the highlight of the experience- eager to help and nice. I approached Francisco the manager who acted defensive and outright rude when I mentioned the order didn't turn out right. They are more concerned with their take out business than the customers in the restaurant. I talked to him when I was leaving and let him know that it's inappropriate to speak to customers like he did when I talked to him. Obviously didn't care enough to see what he could do to remedy it Folks- there are many other restaurants in our lovely city that are happy to have us as their patrons. Sometimes there's nothing sweeter than perfect service. Incredibly hungover, we stopped here for some delicious, fresh grub. I'm a space cadet while hungover but our cashier was incredibly sweet and patient with me while I placed my order, changed it, added to it etc. He made some great suggestions and was sure to double check our bag before handing it to us. All i ever get at rubios is the two fish taco plate w rice and beans, but at the Encinitas location, it tastes SO disgusting. The people who make the food at this one have ZERO respect for quality and consistency. I just opened up my fish taco and found a dehydrated piece of fish about half the size of the corn tortilla and 5-6 pieces of cabbage with barely any yougurt sauce. Plus it was stone cold.
