Visited some friends in the area, and they brought us here. Unfortunately, I wasn't that impressed. I ordered the Pad Thai, and the noodles, along with the overall dish, were quite sticky. Having had authentic Pad Thai in Thailand, I found this version noticeably different, as traditional Pad Thai is typically not that sticky. I was also surprised to see BBQ ribs on the menu at a Thai restaurant. They were decent, though--tender enough to fall off the bone and flavorful enough to enjoy. The highlight of the meal was definitely the stuffed angel wings. They tasted freshly made and were well-seasoned. We also ordered egg rolls, but for $10, I felt the portion size, quantity, and overall quality did not offer great value. Service was good, and our server was attentive throughout the meal. As for the ambiance, I'd suggest avoiding Friday nights if you're looking for a relaxed dining experience. There was a live band playing, and the music was so loud that we could barely hear each other talk. It's probably not the best setting for a date night or a dinner where conversation is part of the experience. read more

My sister got take out from them last nigth: the portions were huge, at least 2 portions here in one order of Pad Thai, enough for a full meal leftover. One order of spring rolls was several rolls, an additional meal in itself. You really get your value at this place. read more

There is a weird psychological phenomenon where the closer you are to something interesting, the less likely you are to visit it. There are people who probably live five miles from the Grand Canyon who have never seen it and probably think they will get around to seeing it one of these days. And then they die or move and never see it. I realize it is just a bit of a minor stretch to compare a Thai restaurant with the Grand Canyon but here we are. I have driven by this restaurant, sometimes multiple times a day, probably a thousand times in my life. I have heard many good things. I have just never visited until now. It is beautiful inside. The decor is gorgeous. The lighting is excellent. There is live music (in fact, very good live music during our visit). They have an insane happy hour, every day, from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m., I believe. There is a happening bar scene, if that is your thing. The food is solid. We tried the Tom Yum soup with chicken added (th soup was very coconut-y and creamy), the Pad Thai with shrimp (delicious), and the red curry with shrimp (also, delicious). The portion sizes were generous. The Thai iced coffee was very nice. My martini was fine. The chicken in the soup was not, in my opinion, of the highest of highest quality. And the martini, which was very normal sized (and I am talking about martinis, not anything else), was a very painful and un-normal-sized $19. That hurt a little bit. Service was friendly and homey and wonderful. Our water glasses were constantly re-filled and we were constantly checked up on. This is a delightful, lively restaurant and it has a lot to offer (decor, music, food, service, atmosphere). I am ashamed it has taken be far too long to visit. And, for what it is worth, I have visited the Grand Canyon, even though I live nowhere near it, and it is also wonderful. Also, unlike at Thai One On, there is no Thai food available at the Grand Canyon, so keep that in mind. read more

Visiting the area from LA and thought we'd try this place out. The service was excellent- very warm and friendly staff. Loved the atmosphere- (it a little on the louder side) live edge wood decor, live musician/band, amazing bar, drinks & conversations, and great food! With the rainy weather we've had this past week, I was craving Thai food more than usual! The place I usually go to was closed so I went on Yelp to try and find a new spot. Thai One On came up and was open when so many other locations were closing down before dinner service. I placed an order online for panang curry with shrimp, tom kha soup, crispy veggie rolls, and fresh spring rolls. There were other reviews mentioning some missed items for takeout, but everything was there and tasted great! The panang curry was one of my favorites. I chose a spice level of 2 thinking it would be better to play it safe and rightfully so. The flavor and spice were perfect, but had I gone higher, it would've been too spicy. We finished off our meal with thai teas that were sweet and creamy. The space was also really big inside and they had a bar area. Definitely a place I'd love to check out for a dine-in expereince! read more

I ordered sweet and sour chicken expecting it was fried, nope. We had lunch portions delivered and it was not quality. It almost felt half-assed. There was no sauce except sweet and sour for everything. The salad dressing had a fake peanut sauce taste. The green curry is okay but tastes canned. The after taste lingers with the taste of tin. Beautifully decorated high end tropical design esthetic. So, being in that environment really adds to one's dining experience. Greeted by a lovely young woman at the bar and you are open to select your own seating. They have musical entertainment, most nights. The evening I was there a wonderful female vocalist entertained everyone. Now onto the food... Everything is served in a beautiful presentation. The food is fresh delicious and filled with flavor. There are many unusual selections. They're happy to adapt any recipe to please their clients. There is a full bar with a very experienced bartender managing beautifully . Seriously this is a hidden gem!! As you walk through the door, you are always greeted with a smile. We prefer to sit at the bar to enjoy a padres game. La Costa was Mafia built with money from the Teamster Pension Fund. the development was a wholly owned subsidiary of organized time. more than a decade before the Penthouse exposé (I swear I only bought the issue for the article), folks around these parts referred to La Costa as La Costa Nostra. the irony is Bob Guccione (Penthouse publisher) had a house there. still waiting for an invite to the Playboy mansion but back in the day, Guccione's place in La Costa was popping. rumor has it, La Costa's where wise guys met Nixon cronies to work out the deal for a Teamster endorsement (the only major union to ever endorse a Republican candidate) if Nixon got Hoffa outta prison so Teamster president, Frank Fitzsimmons, could access his rival. Nixon won re-election and Jimmy Hoffa wound up on a permanent leave of absence, but I digress. was at La Costa High for a wrestling tournament. between Wyatt's matches, I went looking for somewhere to eat and stumbled across THAI ONE ON. I've eaten dozens of times at the Vista location, and am always down for eating Thai. HALF MOON TON (crispy avocado and cream cheese filled wontons) served with Thai Sweet Chili Sauce were okay. they didn't get all that crispy and as you might deduce from the menu description not particularly traditional. at best, a guilty pleasure. I had the SIAM BEEF SALAD (grilled marinated beef, mixed greens, shredded carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, cilantro, shallots, and spicy lime dressing) and it was delightful. long day for dad supporting his wrestling son and the salad was one of the highlights. read more

Love love love! Beef skewers are my absolute favorite. Please at least get that as an appetizer if you go! Yellow curry w/duck.. so good. Service is always wonderful; everyone is quick and helpful. I thought I would give Thai One On another chance since the first time I went was mediocre at best. Well, they continue to disappoint. The Drunken Noodles "with chicken" were a soggy mess and no chicken(even though they charge extra for it). The curries were salty and otherwise flavorless. Considering the premium prices they charge, this is even more of a reason to pass on Thai One On. Lastly, they are not friendly, and if you look at all the signs where the pick up station is, they are all written in a negative tone. Totally not a customer service focused place! read more

I gotta say the difference on customer service from one location to another is unbelievable. This lady at the register was so cranky . Very mid, little flavor and no heat - which may have been my mistake as I ordered spice level five out of ten but still, there's heat and there's flavor and this had very little of both. Owner refused to honor Groupon Stated they have NEVER offered a Groupon Said Groupon fraudulently offered the promotion Contacted Groupon to file a complaint they came back to say that Thai One On owner was contacted and said that it had been redeemed at 11:36 pm long after they had closed and while I was out of the country. The Groupon had expired and all I wanted applied was the amount I spent on it $20 I won't do business with anyone that is this dishonest and you shouldn't either! read more

They sold their business in Vista and the original Chef is now here so I know the food will continue to be delicious. We always get great service and good food which is why we continue to come back. Ordered delivery and they missed an item. When I called to tell them they put me through to 3 different people, said their would call me back and then never did. So I paid for an item I never got and never heard back about. I also got an instant stomach ache upon eating the soup. Would not recommend it for the poor service and low food quality. The Vista location is much better but this location is no good. read more

We have been going to Thai One On for 17 years starting in the Vista location. They have just expanded their space and added a house Jazz band that plays every night. The remodel is so beautiful and natural looking with modern epic light fixtures. The regular background music is nice and chill. Each meal was outstanding!! The soups were made to perfection. We had Tom Kha, Wonton Soup, Pad Se Ew and eggplant pork. Really Amazing. We had a late lunch and looking forward to a dinner with Jazz here. The service was outstanding too.
