Great food and friendly waitstaff! They have a nice variety on their menu and the food is tasty and the service was good. I had the West Coast Burger Bowl which had the best burger I have had in a long time; served on a bed of lettuce with avocado at 40g of protein. And don't forget to try the Butter Cake; I told the manager it should be illegal it was so yummy. They are in the old Corner Bakery location near Habit and Trader Joe's. When I first stepped into a California Pizza Kitchen (CPK), I was an awe. I thought to myself..."This is an upgrade from the usual pizza shop". The staff/waiters were absolutely marrrvelous at the same time very professional creating a welcoming environment. And importantly, the food/drinks were absolutely deeelicious at a reasonable price...sooo many menu options. I'm definitely a CPK fan! I just looove CPK's innovative and creative California-style pizzas. If you didn't know...this is where the "original" BBQ Chicken Pizza came from. On the healthier note, it also has gluten-free crust, cauliflower crust, and healthful power bowls which are awesome additions in the pizza world. I had some time to kill between appointments and I had recently been to CPK so I knew I wanted to grab a snack there. I arrived about 4 o'clock. I think it was happy hour, and it was pretty quiet to start. Edgar the bartender greeted me. I sat at the bar and ordered a strawberry mango cooler, which doesn't contain alcohol. I also ordered chips and guacamole. The cooler was super sweet so I probably would order something else next time. The chips and guacamole were really good. The guacamole was super fresh and it had sliced jalapeños in it that you could easily pick out if you don't like spice, but I do like the spice and I enjoyed it a lot.. When I left, quite a few people had come in for happy hour and it was a fun, festive atmosphere. You can sit partially outside which is also nice! I'm so happy CPK is in my neighborhood. They quietly opened in November 2025, but I only just found out recently. I have enjoyed their salads a lot in the past (amongst other things) so I look forward to coming back for lunch or happy hour. read more

Yay!!! We FINALLY have our own CPK in North County again!! Here we are, the second day of opening and I'm SO excited. Everything is new - the restaurant is full of people, excited servers and there's a good buzz going on. Of course with every new restaurant there are hiccups, and we had a few, but pack your patience while they get their procedures down. HAPPY HOUR: M-F 3-6pm (close to 50% off drinks as well as a good choice of apps) That's a great deal! My Dinner: (Happy Hour apps) - Spicy Buffalo Cauliflower - try these they're so good! You almost wouldn't know it's a vegetable. There's a tasty Sriracha buffalo sauce that has a nice spice to it but the Gorgonzola cheese and greens (celery, cilantro and scallions) work well to balance the taste/heat. - Szechuan Chicken Dumplings - These are ok. Yummy with a sweet sauce. But my favorite is the cauliflower. Hubby got the $9 - 7-in Pizza + Draft Beer Happy Hour Special. The pizza is a small one but had a good amount of pepperoni on it and he said it was wonderful. In fact, his plan next time is to get TWO of these and that'd be a meal (2 pizzas and 2 beers for $18 is a great deal) For dessert, we got the Upside Down Berry Cheesecake and since they now have hot fudge, we got that on the side. The cheesecake itself is pretty light (I've had better) - the berries really make the dish. Now you add the warm fudge and BOOM! We'll definitely try the new Churro Swirl next time. Shout out to MIA, our waitress - she's super sweet and really worked hard to make our dinner awesome. Thank you!! TAKE OUT: If you don't have time to come in, the take-out is easy on the website or app. They have a whole counter at the back of the restaurant just for that. Just saw it was open and decided to stop in. It was astoundingly amazing with the excellent service considering it was only open two weeks. It was some of the more attentive service I've ever had in Encinitas. Nice decor may be a little too brightly lit, but a nice bar there as well. All the food is the usual CPK standard. We just had a pizza and tried the new crispy Chinese wonton salad, which was just excellent. They also have a really cool selection of nonalcoholic drinks, which I love. Can't complain and really enjoyed having CPK back in our area. We will definitely be back again. read more

Been here three times and each time there's a problem with overcharging. First time, I caught it and asked server to take off the overcharge. No big deal, it happens. Second time, it was a group at the bar. Bartender couldn't run our card at the bar seats so we gave our cards, paid and then realized they didn't give us the Happy Hour pricing. Manager gave us each a gift card for the overcharges. Cool, we will try again. Third time, went last night and used the gift cards and the manager said "sorry, even though you have $50 in gift cards and your food bill is $37, I can only take off $8 in food." What?!! Plus the bartender charged us for an extra glass of wine we didn't have. Food is good. Love the indoor/outdoor bar but each time I go I feel like I'm getting scammed. I've given it three tries. This restaurant is new to the Village Square shopping area. They should have advertised that they were open because I had no idea. My husband and I dropped by for an early dinner. We sat at the bar and were served immediately. I had the lettuce wraps and my husband had a pepperoni pizza. Both were very good. The lettuce wrap had a little bit of spice to the sauce but all was good. I also had a very refreshing rose sangria. The only thing consistent with this new location, is the inconsistency of both their service and food. It just isn't in the same league as their other more established locations. The inside is quite small with a limited number of tables, and their back service area seems to be quite cramped, and in a constant state of confusion and disarray. It's also nearly always quite chilly in the restaurant, to the point of being uncomfortable. We loved the Solana Beach location, but sadly, this is a pale replacement. We have been loyal CPK customers for many years, but not sure loyalty is going to be enough to keep us going back to this location. read more

I ordered a meal for my family while I was in town visiting. I tried their new steak salad what a disappointment.. I was lucky if I got six cubed pieces of overcooked meat. I'm not sure it was any quality of steak that I've ever eaten, and I noticed that the children's pizzas were cold and very little cheese. We have been loyal fans of CPK for many years and we were quite disappointed when the one in Solana Beach shut down because the company was filing bankruptcy, and it is only open in certain locations. We just found out this one in Encinitas opened up and we had a good experience. The food was good and the staff were very nice. I would say that they're still learning to make the special recipes of CPK and they are still working on their efficiency, but this restaurant has great promise and we are just glad it's here.. We ordered this Sicilian pizza on cauliflower crust, and it was quite delicious. However, my son ordered the spaghetti Bolognese with extra meat sauce and there were like three pieces of ground beef with very little homemade tomato sauce so we had to bring it to the attention of the manager, and they brought us more sauce which also look like the ground beef was lacking. Normally it comes with nice chunky meat sauce. The barbecue chopped chicken salad, substituting, avocado, avocado, for the chicken was quite good and tasted similar to what we normally eat. Overall, I would give it a four over five experience and that's being a little generous, but I know they can get to a five over five as they seemed very motivated very friendly and the manager even admitted that they're just all learning the pace of it read more

I'm a long time fan of CPK. Recently they moved from Solana Bch to this Encinitas location. We ate in once. Tonight, I picked up a pizza for dinner and another to bake later. Our dinner was their most popular....the barbecued chicken. I customized with a "thin" crust. It's hard to describe how disappointed we were. The crust was overcooked, dry as cardboard. There were approx. 2 bits of chicken per slice. There were 3 slices of onion on the whole pizza. There was a pale cover of sauce, and an obscure smear of barbecue sauce. That's it! I believe it's supposed to have another ingredient or so, but I can't verify, because their website has been "down" since i tried it at 5:30. It's now 6:28. Dinner time, and they have no online presence! Each of my pizzas was $20. I've had much better frozen pizza from Trader Joe's for $5. I want to see CPK succeed. But this spells "demise" to me. There's no sign of quality control in the kitchen. None. read more

Someone needs to send the manager (12/12/25) home for good! Our server was having trouble with hand held payment processor, and she could not or would not help! She came to our table with the excuse. "We have only been open three weeks"...and did not process Our payment, just walked away! Hello...still a problem here! Go home Lady! Not only snotty attitude-incompetent! This was after we were served Guacamole that was not properly prepared. I just used a fork to complete the prep, the sever saw it, mentioned it to the manager, he them came back and told us that it was chunky guac! Ok. I never asked about, but did need to ask for chips that were not broken down to crumbs! Yup..not exaggerating, tiny little crumb chips! The server offered a free appetizer but could not get it applied to our check! He also could not apply the Happy Hour prices. First time here in the new location. Nice shopping center and nice location as far as parking. I had the turkey sandwich which was very good except I'm not a big fan of such thick bread and although soft on the inside the outside is pretty tough. It's also almost impossible to take a full bite it's so thick and I have a very large mouth. My wife ordered the Works pizza on thin crust and said it was very good. She's ordered this before at other CPKs. I also ordered the upside down cheese cake with berries and it was very good. We were greeted when we came in and seated immediately. Oh my gosh, what a great time we had at California Pizza Kitchen in Encinitas, CA. This is a new location that we hadn't been to before. We love the food, all of it, but specifically the Jambalaya pasta dish and the Cobb Salad, sooo good!!! But, the best part of the evening was the service! Our waitress Karissa was phenomenal, super sweet, and funny and all over everything we needed.. Quick with any requests, and had suggestions for other items to make our evening a real treat! When we were ready to pay, both Karissa and the Manager Reuben were so helpful with the digital gift cards we had, that weren't the easiest to access. We will definitely be back, again and again! CPK is nice to have in Encinitas, but I think the management will be their undoing if they don't change their ways. We went there today and got sucked into registering for their rewards program to get a free 'starter' (appetizer). We explained to our server we had registered and had earned the free starter. We ordered the starter and it wasn't until the bill came were we told (despite the table placards on this offer saying nothing of the kind) our starter was not applicable and the server didn't understand such (as this place just opened), only a minimal few starters apply. We asked if the manager would reconsider and were told...."I just asked her and she said 'no'".....so $13 starter later that we would have never ordered.....not sure we'll ever go back. Stopped in by myself so sat at the bar which was empty. Staff very friendly scrambling about. They appeared short staffed. Service was slow. I ordered the new Steak Salad. Steak chunks were plentiful but quite tough and chewy. The salad was saturated in dressing and soggy. Did not appear to be fresh. Definitely would not order again. A bit pricey too. My 7 year old daughter and I went to CPK for lunch today and had such a lovely time, mostly due to our wonderful server, Karissa. The food is standard CPK food, which was good, but when we left, my daughter said she wanted to come back just to see Karissa again. And I'd have to agree.
