Man, do I love talking to actual people. Specifically, Cindy at Ruby & Quiri. If you're in the market for appliances, if you're lucky you have two choices: local shop, or big box store. In my experience, you're going to be a lot happier with the local shop. Ruby & Quiri is no exception. When you order from a Home Depot or a Lowe's, you have to go through their stupid websites and they'll tell you the next delivery date and then it'll probably be late and you have to call for over an hour to find an actual person and wait longer while they find the right person... I've dealt with Ruby & Quiri twice now, for a fridge and then just recently a dishwasher, and they've done right by me each time. Last week, I called in and told Cindy what kind of dishwasher I was looking for and how I was in a time crunch. She was kind enough to walk me through what options they had, and then when they didn't have the exact one in stock, she went and talked to the folks on the floor and got me the floor model that matched my needs. She made sure it was in good condition, and then talked to the delivery folks who said they could throw it on a truck tomorrow even though the next delivery window was supposed to be the following week. This is the benefit of dealing with a local business. They want to make the sale, and they want to help you get what you want. I'll definitely be giving them my business again. read more

My husband insist on using this place for our business purchases. Every time we order something it is incorrect or they sell him some other machine that is not what we need they can't get what you ask for and when they can't they sell you something that you don't need or want. Every single purchase that we have attempted to made from here is incorrect or they sell you something that is clearly broken and does not work. Working with this business is the most frustrating experience I've ever had working with a business. We have had to return countless machines. I have a dryer that I still have to use that they brought me was supposedly new and has never worked from day one it throws constant error codes they cannot fix it they will not take it back. We just recently purchased a leather power reclining sofa at this store and had the best service and buying experience! Whitney, the sales associate, met us upon entering. She was very welcoming, asked what we were looking for, and showed us around their very VERY large store and told us about the several options they have to offer, gave us time alone to walk around and make our decision - truly a great salesperson without hovering or pressuring us at all. I liked the aspect that they take your used furniture and it goes to people who might be in need and it's included in their $49 delivery fee, instead of just dumping it somewhere and charging high disposal fees like the other places we had looked at. That won my respect for the company as I have family in Texas who were hit hard by Hurricane Harvey the prior year. Whitney was very professional (and so funny) and personable, as well as being knowledgeable about the selections they offered. She even stayed late to help us without even letting on they were closing-I felt so bad, we thought they were open another hour and I hate being "that customer"! I sued Ruby & Quiri in 2016 and lost. My house is heated by steam radiators. Ruby & Quiri installed carpeting in three bedrooms in 2011. Without informing me, instead of cutting the carpet to slide around the radiators' feet, they disconnected the radiators from their steam pipes, slid the carpeting underneath, then reconnected the radiators. In one spare bedroom, the radiator wasn't reconnected properly, so it had a slow leak in the heating months. You couldn't see the leak unless you just happened to be looking from floor level at the radiator steam valve when a drop fell. And you wouldn't feel the water unless you walked barefoot by the steam valve. I only found it in 2016 because I had accidentally locked a cat in the room and saw a drop fall from the valve when I went looking for cat waste. I complained and waited for three months before Richard Ruby and his son-in-law deigned to come over, disconnect the radiator and take a look. I left them alone in the bedroom for about seven minutes. When I returned, the son-in-law had his back to me and was making a strange shaking motion over the carpet that he abruptly stopped. Both were acting weird but I didn't make anything of it. Weeks later, I happened to look closely at the carpet and discovered two cuts in one of the radiator's feet imprints in the carpet. The cuts were about as big as you could expect to make if you only had a couple of minutes to work. Ruby wouldn't settle so I was forced to sue for $2500 in water damage. Two weeks before court date, Ruby called me on the phone to intimidate me. He asked if I was still planning on going to court. He told me it had been a long time since he had been in court and he was having trouble finding any of the carpet installers from my installation job. In court, I read from my written testimony, introduced 19 photographs with captions written in the margins, and brought in the actual piece of carpet that had been beneath the leaking radiator. Again and again and again, I pointed out that no slits had been cut in the carpet to slide around the radiator's feet. Three of the photos, exhibits #2, #4 and #17 had captions reading "No slits in the carpet." And, of course, the piece of carpet I brought in showed no slits had been cut for the feet. In the first court session, Ruby showed up with no witnesses. That first session ended with Lorraine D., Ruby's lawyer, cross-examining me after I had finished my testimony. Very conveniently for Ruby, Judge Lisa L. ended the first session there, for an appointment, she said. That gave Ruby and Lorraine D. months to go through my testimony looking for weaknesses and come back with a witness. Three months later, the second session started with Adam H.'s testimony. Mr. H. had worked for Ruby & Quiri as an installer in 2011. Mr. H. couldn't remember ever having been at my house, but he testified that he would never move a radiator. After I showed him the pictures and the piece of carpet I had given as evidence, he had to revise his testimony. Ruby suggested Mr. H. use an empty Kleenex box to demonstrate. [Verbatim, from court testimony.] Mr. Ruby: Lorraine? Ms. L.D.: Yeah. Mr. Ruby: What about using a Kleenex box as if it's the radiator and I think Adam can show what they're referring to. [Judge L.L. then had Mr. H. demonstrate using the Kleenex box.] Judge L.: Alright. So, let's let the record reflect that we have a Kleenex box here right on the bench that the this witness is going try and I'm going to try to describe it. But help me if you can. Mr. H.: Now look. This is your carpet. Okay? It's laying up underneath here. We roll it up like this so that the edges the thinnest edge. You pick up a foot and you slip it up underneath. Judge L.: Oh, you pick up a foot of the radiator. Mr. H.: A foot of the radiator and slip it underneath. It's still folded up like this because it's hitting this leg here. You lift this leg up and you slip it underneath. You get it worked up underneath there, you tip this leg up, and you slip it underneath and then you do the same thing in the back. [End excerpt.] And this is how Judge L.L. wrote it up in her decision, finding for the defendant, Ruby & Quiri: [From Judge L.'s decision.] "The defendant called as a witness, Adam [H.], a former carpet installer for Ruby & Quiri with over 10 years of experience installing carpets. He testified that during installation the carpet installers wouldn't move a radiator when installing wall to wall carpeting but explained the process for cutting the carpet to fit around a radiator . He also explained the process while examining the carpet piece admitted into evidence. He did admit he wasn't involved with the installation of Mr. [R.]' s carpet." [End excerpt.] I wrote a complaint to the N.Y. Commission on Judicial Conduct asking to have Judge L. removed from office for lying. They dismissed my complaint and said that, by law, I could not ask for an explanation. read more

You can buy furniture cheaper lots of places, but you will never get the kind of personal attention you will have at this store. The owner puts his personal phone number on every business card and you can call him anytime. This is not a cheap big box store were you buy your item and that is the end of things. This is a family owned local business that offers the best in customer attention. This place is all about customer satisfaction and I for one am extremely satisfied. I purchased a chair and a flexsteel couch from Ruby and Quiri and I am so pleased with both. We ordered flooring for three rooms this time. It was delivered and installed with professionalism, humor and no mess left to clean up. We also ordered living room, dining room and breakfast nook furniture. Most of what we got was spot on. Not sure who talked us into a glass top coffee table...but everything was good quality except for some dining room chairs which were easily returned and replaced. I've shopped here many times over the years. My first purchase with them was a coffee table and 2 end tables. I was young and nervous to make a large purchase without knowing how they would look in my apartment. The owner offered to drive one of the tables to my apartment, helped me bring it into my living room, and let me keep it overnight to see if I liked it or not. I could not believe how friendly and helpful he was. I ended up loving the table, and went back the next day for the other 2 tables. I went to Ruby n Quiri on sunday, 4. 23 looking to purchace a new mattress n box springs. My husband n I were assisted by Tekeilla Perpall. We felt she was extremely knowledgeable of all brands of mattresses and support level of each type. She assisted us to a tester mattress and described the purpose of it. From the pressure points it depicted on our backs, she could best fit us to appropriate mattress that would be good for both of us. Our advisor is Joshua Morey. I can not say I am the easiest customer to deal with, because that would be a lie. Josh spent more then 4 visits with us, over the course of the last year. We Have picked couches twice and the ones we finally bought were not even ones we talked about from the start. I pd 4500 for leather furnture 1yr ago.. the color on the leather has wore off in many spots.... when i bought it i asked if the leather is colored all the way thu oh yes they said well not....... they came and painted the spots... omg i have no pets no kids .....unreal... now this is my 2nd problem with these people... now i bought a floor lamp 200$ got it home put a 3 way bulb in it .. it does not work... they were to call me back with a time for someone to come fix it... they didnt call just got off the phone they do not do mondays how. lucky for them ist my day off then the lady tells me to take it to them really..... then she says it doesnt have a 3 way switch really it saids it right on the lamp... i will never buy another thing here go out of town buy better quility they have more xcuses than anyone ever read more

I bought a couch and a loft bed from Tanya and they are well worth the price. Having three sons, I know my furniture is going to be well-used, but they are standing up to the challenge. We went in for a microwave .. ordered it , paid for it and on the way out stopped at the sleep center.. Needless to say we walked out hours later with a $5000 plus bed! Buyer beware ... Pay attention to every word of the "Be Happy" papers and think about what you are doing and what they are saying before you sign on the line. It's not my first go around with them , years ago had carpeting issues . We had been in for living room furniture , fridge, even a washer and dryer before the microwave .. The bed has been so much anxiety and anger .Our friend went in for a price on the same bed. I have her paper work and when I brought it in with mine for the same products I was told it was a mistake and they would call her to explain their error.. hers was $3000... While the staff are friendly I had a bad experience twice. I purchased a living room set that started falling apart in less than 3 months. They replaced it and this one is doing the same thing. Two sets in less than a year. I asked that Rick Ruby call me back it has been a couple of months now and he has still not called me. I have gone to many different Stores looking for Furniture for our house. we walked into Other very well known Furniture stores and walked for 30 minutes looking for help. They advertise "No pressure" but when you need questions answered there is not one to ask. What we loved about Ruby and Quiri. We were offered help which we took. The pricing was great. the furniture is high Quality. We furnished our new home and saved lots of money doing so. Did not have to pay one penny in interest charges. That was a plus for us. Years later it came time to furnish a small apartment. they had everything we needed. Recently they opened Ashley Furniture in Amsterdam where I purchased three bed mattress. Great new store and still the same great people. I have no need to even go look at another furniture store. If I ever need anything else, I will get it from them. The delivery men are fantastic. helpful, focused on customer service. All in all Ruby & Quiri / Ashley Furniture are by far the best in the Capital District PERIOD! read more
