I have been a customer for almost 10 years. I find Ferrellgas to be reliable, fairly priced and quick to deliver. I recently purchased a 1000 gal in ground for a new home (luckily I had the excavator on site for the hole), install was a snap as well as connection. Delivery guys as well as ladies in the office are top notch. We live in the Adirondacks and delivery sometimes in the winter can be tough. Somehow they make it happen. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. Ferrellgas has a unique business model: be unavailable when customers need propane during the heating season, then become impossible to get rid of once customers find a more reliable provider. Nothing builds confidence quite like wondering whether your propane supplier will actually keep you supplied during the winter. The unnecessary stress and lack of reliability finally convinced me to switch companies. You would think that would be the end of the relationship. Not so fast. It's been nearly a month since I switched providers, and Ferrellgas' four 120-gallon tanks are still sitting on my property. Apparently, removing equipment is a task that requires extensive planning, committee meetings, and perhaps alignment of the planets, because they still won't commit to a pickup date. The good news is that I've found a dependable propane company. The bad news is that Ferrellgas apparently still considers my yard part of their long-term storage strategy. If you're looking for a propane provider, do yourself a favor and find a professional company that understands two basic concepts: delivering propane when customers need it and picking up equipment when customers ask. As a long-time member of the Galway Co-op, I've been a FerrellGas customer. Generally, it is fine, but when it's bad, it's really bad. They went through a time in 2018 where they weren't making deliveries, and I had to get propane from someone else. They fixed their issues and it was fine again until this year. We got our autofill delivery in mid-December, and that was it. Our propane ran out when it was -9 degrees, and I couldn't get through on the phone. After 30 minutes, I got a chat agent who was able to schedule a delivery for the next day, and they'd try to contact the local delivery folks to see if we could get it the same day. My wife called in the afternoon, and after waiting on hold for 1.5 hours, she finally got through to someone who said we were scheduled for the next day, and nothing that day. The problem is that we hearing about people who were promised emergency deliveries and then never got them or waited for days. Rather than have our pipes freeze, I called the local provider that helped us in 2018. They picked up the phone immediately and had a truck to our house in 15 minutes. Needless to say, I'm now their customer instead of Ferrellgas. read more

On an autofill program and I just spent two days with an empty tank after calling multiple times.

Nearly a month ago, a Ferrell Gas truck took a wrong turn and drove up and down my driveway, causing damage to my property. I've contacted the company multiple times and was told a manager would follow up to discuss repairs, but I'm still waiting. I provided photos of the damage as well as pictures of the truck with its identifying numbers. Based on their lack of respect for other people's property, I would never consider becoming a customer. read more

Been without gas, for 2 days now. Every time, I, call they say logistics. Well logistics does not care, if anyone freezes, or not. Why is it that National Grid cannot shut you off in the winter, but Ferrell gas, can let you go without heating gas, as long as they feel like it. read more

I order gas and paid $100 extra for next day delivery. They took my money and promptly lied to my face. I need propane for cooking and hot water. Thank God I have an electric heater; my rear end would have froze. Ferrellgas response was if you paid a $150 we would guarantee next day. I say BS. They lied to me and stole a $100. Where to start... they messed up 3 times over the past 3 years with not scheduling us a delivery in the winter season at 30% or less in their system.. they have horrible customer service. The emergency fill is a joke, they have all the excuses as to why it keeps getting delayed. We are post 48hrs now with no propane fill which is the heat for the house. I would leave 0 stars if it were an option. We called on 1/13 when our tanks were 30% full and was scheduled a day. They never came. I called Friday before the big snowstorm to tell them I was now on 10% and I informed them I scheduled my delivery before the weather, their response was, "You and 500 other people" I called January 20th to confirm my delivery and was told they were unable to come to my house because of the blizzard and at this time I was not rescheduled. I told them I had several tanks on zero and one at 10%. They told me it was the best they could do. Needless to say I canceled my service and went with Long Electric who was able to respond to my phone call within 40 mins and install new tanks within two days. Ferrell Gas is once again leaving its customers without propane during the depths of the winter - as they do every, single year. I contacted them last Tuesday to say my tank was getting low. At that point I was given an eight-day delivery window. I called back on Thursday to say my tank was even lower, and was then told that a delivery was scheduled for Saturday, another two days later. Yesterday came and went - no delivery, no communucation from Ferrell Gas. I called the emergency line this morning, and was told that I'm scheduled for a delivery tomorrow. Mind you, temperatures are in the single digits, and we're supposed to get almost two feet of snow today. My tank is on fumes, so it's likely I'll run out completely before they get here - if they even show. This happens to Ferrell Gas customers in the Capital Region every year. How can a company whose sole purpose is to provide its customers with home heating fuel be allowed to do this? read more

I recently switched from oil to propane to heat my home when my ancient oil boiler died. I joined the Galway Co-op on the recommendation of a friend, which seemed like a great way to keep my costs down, and the co-op had great reviews. They use Ferrellgas as their supplier, which I now regret not digging into further before joining. At first, Ferrellgas came out to my house (Nov 2025) promptly and set my tanks, hooked them up, and then filled them within a few days. My account was set to auto-fill, and I felt a sense of ease that I wouldn't have to worry about running out of propane. I regularly updated my % fill in their app, and when I got down to 30% on Jan 17, notified them just in case. 30% turned to 20%, then 10%, and no one came. I called their customer service center twice during that time, and was assured both times that I was "in the system" and "scheduled for delivery" but they could not give me a specific date, although the app said 1/23. On Friday morning Jan 23 I called again to say I was at 5% and doubted I would make it through the weekend's snow storm and sub-zero temps. They "upgraded my status to urgent" but no delivery came. I ran space heaters for most of the weekend in an attempt to save what little fuel I had, because it heats my water, too. No delivery Monday, or Tuesday, and finally after another angry call, I was assured a Thursday delivery. By then it was too late. My front zone stopped heating, and last night my pipes froze. Thank God they didn't burst. I called a local propane Co who is coming this afternoon to disconnect Ferrellgas' tanks and hook up theirs. The stress, extra money (space heaters and elec bill!!) Plumbing repair... I never want to go through again. I see on social media MANY others are in the same boat with delayed or skipped Ferrellgas deliveries. Why would they take on new customers if they can't meet the needs of their current ones? Why promise "auto-fill" when they can't deliver (literally!) I've never used propane for heat before and I have just bought a mobile home near the end of December and it had 3 Ferrellgas tanks so I figured I would use them. I asked them about the three tanks each had a gauge and do I add them all together to get my percentage and she said yes. so we need to call at 30% to 40% so I waited for each tank to say 15% and called on February 5th and told them this other woman told me that it was not the 45% like I'm thinking it was by adding all three together and it was only 15% and then divide it by 3 why don't they just have one gauge so people would know or explain it better, so I panic and was told I would get a delivery by February 19th so I turned my furnace down so I wouldn't run out and have more problems. here I am 72 almost 73 years old with heath issues and hardly no heat using electric heaters and 57 degrees in my house and they can't even tell me what day they are coming and still saying it may be the 19th but no guarantees it could be longer. I am so very upset with them right now and I could never be so cold hearted to tell someone with no heat only a space heater that they have no clue when we would get to them! read more

In an industry that we in the northeast require to heat our homes, to anyone out there avoid avoid avoid at all cost!!! Ferrellgas will "give" you what they call the best prices on gas and it's simply not true. However, even if they were accurate in the case of cost I'd spend double to avoid the horrific customer service, management, and overall lack of skill in which their employees have. They are only licensed to fill and attach /detach tanks. Stewart's staff is more licensed to deal with propane. The only thing they show consistency in is the lack of customer service. The managers are just as bad if not worse. The best thing I did was tell them to come get their tanks! read more

I first hired Ferrelgas in the fall of 2024 to supply propane to heat my home. I asked for 2 120 gallon tanks to be set. They refused and only set one tank. The first delivery was fine. I ran out of propane in 15 days. I called in for a delivery. They came 10 days after I ran out in December. 10 days after the delivery I asked for another delivery. I got a message 15 days later saying that the driver couldn't get in my flat plowed driveway at 8pm on a Saturday so they canceled my delivery. I checked my security cameras at the end of my driveway that cover my driveway, Rt 21 and German Hollow Rd. There was no sign of any propane truck here or even on the roads that night. I ran out of propane/heat again. I called them on Monday as the office was closed on the weekend. I was met with hostility by the agent so I asked for a supervisor. The supervisor called me back and said that no one told her or documented that there was a delivery attempt at my house at all. She said the driver just cancelled the delivery. 10 days later, I finally get a delivery. 5 days later, I asked for another delivery knowing it would run out of propane again. I also contacted HEAP to have that applied to my account. 10 days later, they canceled my delivery because the cash from the HEAP was not there even though the letter from HEAP was there. They refused to deliver. I called my local DSS and spoke to the HEAP worker. I also sent an email to the supervisor of Ferrelgas about this issue. I got an apology from the supervisor saying the agent was wrong. 10 days after that and being out of heat, they delivered the propane. 3 days after that, I placed another order. 10 days after that is today and I'm out of propane and I got an email saying the driver was here today and couldn't deliver because my driveway wasn't plowed. I checked my cameras again and no big blue propane truck was here today. I did see UPS and FedX drive in my driveway to make delivery's for me. I asked the FedX driver if he had any issues getting in my driveway. He said it was fine. I sent an email to Ferrellgas and they replied that the delivery is set for 3/10/2025. And I am out of heat again! Also, because I ran out of propane 3 times, I had to run my electric heaters in order to stay warm. That ran up my electric bills to just under $1500. My bill would normally be around $70 a month at most. Turns out that this is typical for this company in Earlville NY read more

This is the worst company ever. I put an order in on February 9th and was told that my tanks would be filled by the 21st or sooner. No delivery on the 21st or the 22nd and today their moron driver filled my tank for my outbuilding and not my house! Incompetence is their specialty. They suck!!!!!! read more

We were on auto delivery and Ferrell never came. We called several times over a 2 week period and they kept promising they would come, yet no one ever showed. The tank dipped below 10% when we finally called another more reliable provider who delivered the following morning saving our home from devastating repairs. If I could give this company a negative star I would. Here in upstate NY they were in the news media on TV and in the newspapers back in 2022 for the same reason. Who ever is running this company, fire him or her. These people live in homes and I live in a trailer, because as a senior, disabled, metal rods from surgery, arthritis in my spine, have asthma, my tanks can't be this low.I've told them; they know but ignore. They don't care. I know the sound of my furnace when its low, the color of the flames on my stove. I have had to deal with these people (to put it nicely) this week. I called them the Monday before Christmas with 28% and I am on a "keep fill" my tanks and Tammy who answered could not give me a date nor time, approx., as to when I will be seeing a delivery. I ask questions after hours and get no call back either. I live alone and this is no way to treat customers. It is 5 days later, website reading says 21. Their hours says they don't work on weekends. You can't stretch an empty 20% to heat someone's home. I am going to call the NYS energy commission and see and complain about their service. Before Sonja Casey came on, we were told what date and approx. AM or PM hours. Doesn't anyone in the company watch the news? Get the propane delivered. Hire more people. read more

I've been a customer of Ferrellgas for the last 7 years, in the beginning it was okay little issues but nothing big,recently they have been horrible. First let me state that I am a pay first deliver after customer. Most recently they have came to my residence in November and filled up my tank. The employee has overfilled our tanks TWICE now( not overflow and make a mess everywhere but still more than the dollar amount we paid). There's a reason we pay what we pay and now they are trying to make us pay yet again for fuel that we did not ask for, that their guys messed up and put in our tanks. I just called a local branch and the lady was EXTREMELY rude talking over me, pretty much yelling at me. Telling me that it doesn't matter that I have to pay for the fuel because "I'm going to need a fill up soon anyway just to send them the money". Now even if that is true I still don't have the extra funding for what they're requesting for plus another full up!! read more

We have left Ferrellgas due to lack of customer service. We almost ran out of fuel multiple times last winter and I heard many people did. We always did what Ferrellgas told us to do, call them when we get down to 30%. I called Ferrellgas on separate occasions, 30%, 20%, 10% then again at 5% trying to get them to bring fuel. They set up a delivery dates then didn't honor them. I spoke to a woman representative in Ferrellgas customer service named Stephanie in Philadelphia who very rudely told me to find another fuel company, so I did. I will Not be using Ferrellgas again. My neighbor also dumped them and we both went to J&R fuels who have been wonderful. As Ferrellgas's own customer service personnel stated and recommends if I was you and you are currently with Ferrellgas I would change companies as well. read more

Should've checked the Yelp reviews before I even bothered trying to sign up, as the 1-star rating is definitely earned by Ferrell Gas. Signing up is a weeks-long process and I was finally set up to have a delivery just before a major snow storm and dropped temperatures. They did not give me a delivery window and so I wasn't dressed when I heard a knock around 8AM, so I scrambled to get to the door just to see the guy looking at me, but not stopping, as he drove away in his truck. After failing to get in touch with the guy initially, when he finally got back with me he rudely said I'd need to reschedule because I didn't get to the door quickly enough. I had already waited weeks by that point, so then I looked around and noticed that EVERY OTHER COMPANY was offering lower rates! So I didn't end up going with Ferrell, I am with another company that offers cheaper propane, so it all worked out in the end. read more

Two weeks for a propane delivery and I still haven't been given a delivery date. They constantly say that they will call you back and never do so, it's pointless to call with questions and not get them answered by them when you have them on the phone. Every other propane company in the area has been able to fill the tanks of their customers while you can't even get them to give you a date. Then they tell you to call when you're at 30% as to not run out but they can't even get to you if they weeks behind on delivery schedules. We have been customers for years, and in 2019 we nearly ran out due to their lack of ability to deliver. Our tanks are now very low and we are on auto fill, had to request a fill and was told they don't know when they will be here due to lack of drivers and trucks. You can not allow people to go without heat in the dead of winter due to your failure to plan, we will be changing companies in the spring after more than 10 years, good riddance Ferrell! read more

Well we have had this company for years. It was fine in the beginning. Thought it strange they never let us know when they were coming. Filled up when they wanted to it seemed and left the huge bill. But prices have fluctuated a lot more recently where other companies have not. (I've been shopping around.) To top it off, the last time a delivery came ( very last time), it created divots and rolls in our BEAUTIFULLY Paved driveway. New early last summer.In addition, the driver went off the driveway causing more damage. When trying to get help to fix their mistake by calling ,sending clear pictures, getting an estimate etc, the company offered $84 off our bill. The estimate from our paver was $650. I tried over and over to communicate with the company with no positive outcome. So I'm writing this review for anyone considering Ferrel. Beware of this company. There are plenty of other companies that provide a much better customer service experience. There are other companies that actually care and appreciate the money we give them for their service. I purchased a Generac back in October and decided to sign up with this company as my fuel supplier. I received an email welcoming me, but then heard nothing more. After awhile I called them to schedule a site check. The appointment took weeks to schedule. When they finally came they were supposed to submit the order for my tank and schedule a delivery date. A MONTH went by...I called and found out they had never put in the order! I finally got a date to set up delivery my tank (at the end of December). I paid the "top-off" fee for the tank two days before the scheduled delivery. They told me they'd be there between 8-1. On the DAY OF delivery I got a call around 8:30 AM saying they were OUT OF 124 gallon tanks.... but they could schedule another site visit to see if a 500 gallon tank would be a good fit (which would require excavation, etc.)....OUT OF TANKS. Disorganized and unreliable from start to finish. I asked for my money to be refunded and I'll take my business somewhere else. read more
