We decided to eat here for breakfast. We were sat in a smaller room in the back. The decor was nice but I was Disappointed by the seating. This room has a TV to watch and you can't really hear the jazz and NOLA style music in this room. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. She kept my coffee hot and the mood light. We ordered French toast with cheesecake filling and apple pie topping. We also ordered the cinnamon swirl pancakes. The food came fast and was delicious. Wow this place is good. I mean seriously good, don't hesitate to eat here. My family had the Costa Rican breakfast, two different versions of the Southern breakfast, Bananas Foster french toast, and The peacemaker (Chicken St. Charles and Eggs Blackstone). Took 20 minutes for a waitress to greet us at the table. There were 3 other waitresses behind us who were prepping silverware and the didn't say anything. It wasn't until the bus boy asked the bartender if anyone had helped us and she said I don't know and didn't do anything either. Finally, the hostess went to get our waitress, but at that point, we thought we would be better off at Waffle House. So that's where we went. Don't go to Ruby Slipper. Go to Waffle House. read more

We were here for Father's Day. We arrived at 8:30 so our wait was only about 15 minutes. After 9am, the line was out the door and down the street. The food was good! I had BBQ Shrimp and Grits. It was tasty but not as spicy as other versions I've had before. The biscuits are HUGE! The butter they give you for the biscuits is sweet and delicious. My wife had the Florentine Omelet and liked it. My son had the regular pancake and it was so large it covered the plate. I would caution anyone with sensory issues about coming here. Granted, we were there on Fathers Day, but this place is LOUD. I was there with a party of seven and could only hear the person next to me. I'm not generally a morning person so that level of noise early in the morning was not pleasant. Overall I give it a good review and would definitely give them another chance after the "new" wears off and maybe the noise level subsides. read more

Neat location in an old bank building. Not a bad wait (20 min) for a table in a Saturday morning. Excellent iced coffee and sweet crispy fried French toast bites. Out of gravy for biscuits and gravy so hubby settled for migas instead and they were just ordinary. Other 2 in our party had biscuit sliders--pork debris and pickles on one, fried chicken and Tasso gravy on other. Very tasty. Odd that it came with fries but they will sub fruit if you ask. The bananas foster pain perdu was like dying and going to a buttery raisin and sugar coated banana heaven. The pancakes were pretty good as well. I seriously underestimated the size of their biscuits. They are gigantic. Like two or maybe even three people could split one biscuit if they also had an entree. I was expecting more of a wizard of oz vibe from the name, but it's more like an upscale pub feel. Although the original tile floor and architecture of the old Mobile bank building is killer.
