Stayed anyway because server and hostess were good and atmosphere was cute. I ordered a Power Bowl called the Garden Breakfast Bowl (I knew my mom ordering traditional breakfast for me to sneak bites from). I was hoping for healthy crunch and boost to my day. The vinaigrette was too much for the fresh veggies, bulgar wheat and quinoa. I'm not sure what you would put on that power bowl but that dressing was not it. It had too much of it as well. The veggies and avocado were fresh and ratio of other fillers was good. I wouldn't get it again though. Like I said I took some bites of my mom's traditional breakfast. Eggs cooked correctly, bacon was too, Belgian waffle was very good- fluffy and sweet. Pancake was basic. Overall, the whole experience was basic honestly. I went with my husband on the rainiest of days. That didn't stop us or the flavor!! The service was great and the location is open and airy. The price is pretty decent for what you're getting. Right in between WH and the slipper. I know I shouldn't eat anything creamy or milky but I had the shrimp and grits! We were visiting Mobile for Mardi Gras, and our son suggested Toasted Yolk Cafe. Luckily, we were able to get a table because the day we went it was very busy!! There is inside and outside seating. Let me go ahead and say that parking is crazy, so be forewarned. They have all sorts of great things to eat on the menu such as churro style and blueberry donuts , omelets, French Toast, Belgian waffles , pancakes. Shrimp and grits and a lot more. At my recommendation my wife, my daughter and I went for breakfast here. I had high hopes for this restaurant, but now find that I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else. This would easily be a five star review; after all, the restaurant is clean, the employees were friendly and inviting, and the service was excellent. But for the food, which was severely lacking in quality, I would happily recommend. I had the dish they called Two Eggs and a Cake, which was scrambles eggs, grits, a sausage patty and one pancake. The eggs were dry to the point of being nearly crumbs on the plate. They were so desiccated that it was impossible to eat them with a fork. I actually had to use the spoon for my grits to consume the eggs. They were still edible, but it is frustrating when the food that normally one would place in ones mouth using a fork, crumbles back unto the plate, or even worse, onto oneself or the floor before making it to ones mouth. The pancaked was equally as frustrating. It arrives looking very tasty and inviting, not looking at all over cooked, but at the same time, not quite right. It had little flavor and, like the eggs, so dry that I had to use the spoon to consume it. I judge, a restaurant's ability to prepare an adequate breakfast upon its ability to serve up a delicious pancake. I've learned that it's more difficult than one might suppose; thus, a good and truly delicious pancake is, when one finds a kitchen that is able to produce one after another, after another all morning long, is a delightful thing to discover. If the cook staff can get a pancake right, then it stands to reason that they can get the other things right as well. Unfortunately, the kitchen at this establishment hasn't yet developed that skill. Moving on to my wife's and daughter's meals, they each ordered an omelette. My wife ordered the Big Ben, and my daughter ordered the Double Decker. I can report that they both reported their omelette as cooked so dry that they were nearly tasteless. My wife noted after leaving, while reviewing our bill, that she felt robbed. We went in with high hopes, and initially, due to the friendliness of the staff, felt vindicated in our choice of restaurant, but the cook staff let us down. read more

Came around 7:20 on a Sunday. My friend and I were the only customers there. The music was extremely loud, so I politely asked one of the staff if they could turn it down a bit so we could hear each other. She said she couldn't but would ask a manager or someone above her. When our male waiter came to take my friend's coffee order, I kindly asked again if the music could be lowered. His response shocked us -- he said, "No, we keep it like that so we don't have to hear y'all's conversations!" That level of rudeness was unbelievable. Checked reviews so we knew to get on the waitlist. Smart choice as we were seated immediately. We opted for patio seating which was hot but better than the indoor area which was pretty full and loud. Our server was fine. We were given adult cups for our kids but later she brought their water in the kids cups as requested. She asked if we wanted to order the kids food first which I appreciated. Unfortunately, we had to pay for meat that my vegetarian children don't eat in addition to paying extra for them to have eggs. The kids meal is $7.99 and included one piece of French toast. The pancake meal did include two pretty big pancakes. They never got the fruit that comes with the meal. We mentioned it at checkout and she did bring us a to go. There's also only one crayon per child. We started with the churro donuts. They are okay but there's a spice in it that just sits on the back of your palate...and not in a good way. The caramel sauce was very oily so you couldn't taste much of it. The scramble was pretty straight forward, nothing to write home about. The hashbrown casserole was good. Grits are bland. Asked for the queso on the side but it never came. Asked for salt and pepper and the server realized we didn't have our condiment caddy. Overall, a bit overrated. Oh, restrooms were clean. Manager did stop by to ask how everything was-which I always appreciate-but we (the adults) hadn't gotten our food yet. Pay at table options not available, waited over eight minutes to get my debit card back. Update: When we got in the car to travel home, my child asked for the leftover pancakes. I was supposed to be eating at another restaurant but the people I was going with backed out last minute. I then decided to go here because I wanted to try it out. I hadn't really heard what everyone is trying here but I looked at the menu and felt like waffles. I got the chicken and waffles. There was a twist with these waffles. They had cheese and jalapeños. I also ordered cheese grits. I forgot to mention that this place was packed. I was eating by myself so I chose the bar area. The wait staff was very busy but very courteous. Anyway my food came back pretty quickly. Now I was excited when my food came but my cheese grits didn't look like grits. It looked more like hash brown casserole with cheese. Now I admit I could've asked one of the women behind the bar to take the hash brown back but I was hungry. I ate the hash brown casserole like I ordered it. It was really good, might I add. Now the waffles looked exactly like what I ordered. I didn't know that what to expect when I bit into some jalapeño and cheese infused waffles but I was pleasantly impressed. So glad we have brunch spot open in this location- they really did a great job with the decor. For a party of 7 we were sat quickly after arriving. The drinks were enjoyable, the food was delicious, and the decor was cute! I ordered the Brisket Scramble with the hashbrown casserole, and it was so much food I had to get a to-go box for my leftovers. It was a hearty portion of scramble, a biscuit, a nice side of the casserole and a small ramekin of fruit. The mimosas with the gals filled me up, and we enjoyed laughing all morning over our brunch. Our server was great-- very polite and attentive. I hate I missed her name. Just left this restaurant. The waitress could not understand our order for just the biscuits and gravy & one egg for my friend. She brought full two biscuits, sliced with gravy and two eggs on top. We said that wasn't what we ordered. Just wanted one egg on the side. She kept saying the eggs are free. "but the eggs are free!" Whatever. We asked for two Carryout boxes to take the extra food. When she brought the bill she just kept standing there waiting then said "I'll take this." Like we weren't supposed to sit there and finish our food and coffee. So I gave her my card. She came back and presented two printouts. Customer copy said "paid in full." I asked if she had already charged my card she answered yes. I asked why I still had a merchant copy to put tip and add if up if she'd already charged me. She said it's ok I'll just add the tip in on the charge. After she had already run my card?!? How does that work? Do I get an additional copy to check what she charged? "No!" It was very confusing and stupid me, when she said they have to do it that way I just picked up my receipt and left. Came in with a party of 9, food was decent, place was clean besides a broken toilet stall that wouldn't flush. When we received the check a 20% gratuity was included. Generally, not an issue even though i've only ever seen as high as 18%. The problem is, the only time we saw the waitress was first to take our order and second when we got the check. Besides that she never came around to ask us for refills or anything, which the whole table did need more of. We were there for about 45 minutes and never got more water. I'm glad many others feel the food is awesome. I had the BLT and Chicken Tortilla soup and an of the Churro donuts w/caramel sauce. The soup was not of my liking. It was more like chili than soup. I would not be surprised if they added chicken to the chili and call it tortilla soup. My bacon on the BLT was burnt and the tomato was definitely fresh. My husband had a Ruben and did not like. This reviewer adjusted the Toasted Yolk to her specifications before taking a photo, however, the Sourdough is nice and toasty and a perfect basket for the egg. The egg was over medium and cooked perfectly to order. The portion sizes were perfect. The Rise and Shine punch was a delicious addition to our meal with a higher concentration of pineapple juice that can be dangerously hiding the gin. This reviewer enjoyed the light and refreshing nature of the drink. The waitlist is essential to getting to dine at this establishment! I would recommend checking the waitlist before and during your car ride here to secure a lower wait time. I enjoyed the experience we had with our booth seating.
