THE BEST FREAKING BRUNCH/LUNCH RESTAURANT this side of the city, lol! We went very early in the morning at about 930 am, obviously that was too late! The line was outside the building literally wrapped. Now to some that may deter you, but for me, that means some great food coming my way! Hubby and I got our name on the list (they have the NoWait App also through Yelp, so do yourself a favor and put yourself in line early, but it goes fast) ....while waiting we walked around downtown Mobile for about 20 minutes and just had a nice time, we kept up with our space in line, made it back in time and was able to sit down. As soon as we sat, we met a very nice waitress who explained to us that if your not there BEFORE 9am, you will be in line,.... so another tip.... get there BEFORE 9am To be seated. The food is amazing and taste like mom made it! It is New Orleans inspired and you can really taste it in the food! Do yourself a favor and visit the Ruby Slipper soon! read more

Sooo delicious! Just passing through mobile hungry & found this place on yelp. Sooo glad we did! We ordered out of our usual comfort zone, the croque madame sandwich with coffee infused ham!! Melt in your mouth deliciousness! Also the Costa Rican with black beans & rice. Mmmmmmm... got a side pancake with bacon & pralines. Omg. When I say I'm so happy with my choice for brunch today! From the pecan bacon pancake to the brandy milk punch to my perfect scrambled side eggs!!! Everything was excellent. The waiter Kaia was sweet and knowledgeable about the menu, and she knew the daily specials which my friend loved the creole chicken Benedict. We stopped by the cafe on an anniversary trip to town. There was a bit of a wait but they text you when your table is ready so you can walk around downtown. I had the peacemaker with the St. Charles chicken and the bayou shrimp. The st. Charles was AMAZING! The shrimp was great too but the st. Charles outshined it a bit. My husband had the BYO omelette and it was also very good. Our server was fantastic and I wished I knew her name so I could give her proper recognition. My boyfriend and I went to Ruby Slipper on Christmas Eve while visiting Mobile. I had the croque madame and he had the peacemaker. We also ordered the French toast batons. To drink, he had coffee while I had the Bloody Mary. The service of food was quick. I love croque madames, however, unless you like super sweet honey ham instead of the typical taste, then I would not necessarily recommend as I felt that the ham was too sweet. It was almost sweeter than the French toast batons with syrup. The best part of the dish was the perfectly poached egg on top. My boyfriend had the peacemaker, which allows you to choose any two of the Benedicts. He choose the hot salmon and the st Charles and loved them both. I tasted a bite of the st charles and it was very flavorful. I found them both to be bigger than expected. My Bloody Mary was nice and spicy. Our server JeKayla was very attentive and sweet. We will definitely come back again when we are in town and highly recommend. read more

Hand down my favorite brunch spot in Mobile. I love love love eggs Benedict & they have like 10 variations of it. I branched out on my last visit and got the bbq shrimp and grits. I'll definitely be ordering it again. It was cooked in this beer and thyme butter sauce that was delicious. I decided to try this place because of all the local specialties and its location in downtown. The portions were larger than most and the service was so quick. I've only been to the Ruby Slipper one of their time service was very slow but I thought it might be nice to go on a Sunday morning. Only had two people and we had others sat down in front of us that we're just two people as well. When I questioned it they said oh well the bar is open first come first serve. And the attendant had a smirk like I should have known that. When I stated there was no reason for me to have known that because it's not posted anywhere she had a no care attitude. I'll have to think long and hard before I go back. I don't go to restaurants very often but when I do I expect a little courtesy and some empathy from the staff. read more
