We love Rudy's tree lot at the outlet center. We love that the trees are in stands and open so you can see the whole tree. I typically go to a Christmas tree farm to select my live tree, but this year I was out of town for opening weekend, so I reached out to Rudy, the owner, to reserve my Christmas tree. He asked me to fill out his online form on his website to reserve a tree. I did that and never heard back. After following up with texts, I also never heard back, so I called Rudy. He apologized for being busy and told me to come in the next day for my 10' Douglas fir ($220). I went in the next day and he said he didn't have any 10' Douglas firs but that he'd give me a deal on a different tree. He wanted to sell me a $500 tree for $400, and then offered it for $350, when I was looking to get the original tree for $220. He said sorry, I don't have your tree, I'm the owner and I'm really busy. You can go to Lowe's down the street if you want. I didn't drive to San Clemente from Laguna Niguel to go to Lowes. As if that didn't leave a sour enough taste, he berated his brother Will in front of me and other customers for opening the tree prior to placing it in the stand. The only pleasant part of the experience was dealing with Will, who was very polite, courteous and professional, unlike the owner. I would not recommend Rudy to anyone. read more

We had a HORRIBLE experience with Rudy's and are truly upset as this has put such a damper on our holiday season. We recieved our almost $400 tree with tons of broken branches and instead of Rudy asking what he could do to accommodate us or offering any solution, I was yelled at. I have never been treated so poorly as a customer or as a woman, I am speechless and hope this doesn't happen to anyone else this season. Take your business elsewhere. read more
