I ordered the lobster roll. A quarter pound of hefty chunks of Maine lobster tossed in light butter and lemon aioli sauce with diced celery served on leaf lettuce in a soft split roll. Absolutely no mayonnaise is used. It's served with waffle fries, lemon wedge, and a dill spear. The lobster was delicious, sweet Maine lobster served chilled. Yum! The bread was tasty and of good quality. But it wasn't grilled. I recall the last time I ordered this, the roll was grilled a bit, which I prefer. Anyway, the roll was still delicious. Don't forget to grab a fork from the condiment table. It will come in handy. The sandwich was stuffed, so I had to eat some of the the lobster with a fork before lifting it to eat it with my hands. The roll ain't cheap. It's $20. Yikes. It's the most pricey thing on the menu. Love their fish tacos! I visited this food truck when they were in downtown during lunch hour on 5th and R. It was my first time here and I decided to try their special of the day which were fish tacos. The tacos definitely hit the spot for me that afternoon! For $12, my tacos were stuffed with huge Alaska cod fish along with lettuce, onions and their house special sauce drizzled on top. This food truck serves mainly seafood such as calamari, crab and shrimp balls to even lobster rolls! I did see another customer order their calamari which looked absolutely delicious! Will definitely have to try it out the next time they're around! It saddens me to write this low star review because I had High hopes! The fam and I attended the SactoMoFo event at Garcia Park this past Friday. Our goal was to try a number of trucks and a number of dishes. I really really wanted to try Cruzin Crustesean! Major sea lover fan. At 1st I was confused because the truck detailed Rudy's Hideaway all over it but the sign looked like the one I saw on yelp. I finally realized the truck was one in the same, the small Cruzin sign is on the very front of the truck. Menu board detailed chowder, crab balls, fish n chips, calamari, lobster roll, lobster slider and lobi pop. We decided on calamari and lobi pop (only for me). I was informed 5/6 minutes for the pop. Side note: Pricey!!!!!! Each item in board is priced without tax but once tax is added it evens out the price. Example: $7.11 for calamari, total price with tax $8.00. Calamari came out 1st looking good but just kind of bland! And they are really cutting corners offering actual homemade bland kettle chips instead of actual chips aka fries with all their fried dishes. No one wants fish and kettle chips???!! Finally after 15 minutes or so my Lobi Pop came out! So this dish is a grilled lobster tail, resting on coleslaw and topped with fried onions! Sounds like my kind of dish! Well I don't remember the board saying half the tail? You can get these small tails for $5 in the store so I assumed (and we all know what happens when one assumes...) it would be the whole thing. Anywho I dove in. Coleslaw was boring, made with vinegar and no mayo. It was clearly just a filler not meant for eating. Lobster tail half was covered in a tasty sauce, and I killed it. It was wonderful! But honestly I felt like I was robbed. $10 bucks....half a tail, inedible slaw, those onions also no need. Overall no Thanks! The food and service from this food truck is great! It's a bit pricy though. So far, I've had the following... Lobster Slider: It was delicious! When I saw the size of the slider, I thought it was a bit small, but it was just enough to eat with the side of house chips. The house chips was seasoned well, but it was a mishmash of crispy and soggy chips. For 10 bucks, there better not be any soggy chips with the slider. Lobster Roll: It was fabulous! For $18, it was a worthwhile indulgence because they are not skimpy on the Maine lobster meat, and it was cooked perfectly. The lobster meat and diced celery were tossed in drawn butter served with lemon aioli and leafy lettuce in a toasty roll. The house chips that came with the order were also crispy. There wasn't a soggy chip in my order because I expressed my last experience. I'm definitely a fan, but it won't be often that I'll enjoy their food because I won't have a rainy day fund if I indulge on a regular basis with their prices. The truck is TALL. The window is really, really tall. LOL! So, I must always go with someone tall so they can get the food for me. I find it very difficult to order anything else other than the lobster roll. I've tried. I've been in line, ready to try something new. I get to the window and the words "Lobster roll, please." comes out. I can't take the pressure! The lobster roll is just killer delicious! I will finish it all, I don't care if I feel like exploding. You get chunks of lobster. I mean CHUNKS. I had claw meat the size of my palm! The roll is definitely large enough to share (but why...) Calamari is an absolute winner! Thick strips. This is the food truck for Rudy's Hideaway out of Rancho Cordova. I've never been to the restaurant, but my wife has and he mother used to go all the time while my wife was growing up. I've only been in Sacramento for 5 years so I'm still learning about the different restaurants. One thing I discovered was the Sacramento Mobile Food truck organization, known as Sactomofo. I've been to a few of thier events, the last 2 being here in Natomas and the Cruizin'Crustacean has been here. It's a new food truck, but what you get when you mix a new food truck with a well established and seemingly delicious restaurant is an instant classic and a total home run. You start with this fun looking truck, followed by your mouth beginning to water as you are looking at the menu. The classic fish and chips, the Calimari (so tender its like biting into a cloud), lobster bisque or clan chowder, whichever you prefer, and you can't forget the lobipops or the crab balls (I haven't tried the crab balls, but I'm expecting crab cakes in ball form) and then there is the grand daddy of them all, the amazing lobster roll. You drooling? You haven't even ordered yet. You were just reading the menu. Now you get to step up to order and meet (I swear to god) nicest food service, possibly customer service in general, employee that I've ever met anywhere in the form of Erin. After she takes your order, you'll think to yourself, "She was really nice. I hope my food is as good as the service." and then you get your food. My recommendation is you order everything, but if that's a tad gluttonous for you then start with the full lobster roll and order other things the next time. The full lobster roll is so filling and delicious. The sweet Maine lobster, drawn butter, and the aioli they use is awesome. I ended up needing a fork, because the lobster was so full it was falling out of the roll in heaping portions at a time and I'm well aware that that's not exactly a problem. Make sure you get one of their tasty deserts and a box of tissues if you know you're not going to be able to eat there daily. This place is a 10 out of 5 stars and I can't wait to eat there again. Cruzin crab balls were ok, not a generous amount for the price, but rather more chips underneath. But, the crab roll was delicious! One of the best I have ever had. The customer service was excellent, and they had my food ready in a reasonable amount of time. Was very excited to see that this food truck was posted outside of my workplace. I ordered their lobster roll and crab balls. The lobster roll was on point!!! Roll is toasted with light butter, while their lobster is mixed in with mayo (very light) and some diced up onions and celery, which does not take over the succulent fresh tasting lobster. It was so good, I literally finished it in 5 minutes, and it was a decent size. Order comes with a side of potato chips and a pickle. As for the crab balls, it was just as good, very creamy and spicy on the inside, while the outside was very crunchy and light. $16 for a lobster roll might sound a lot, but it was definitely worth every penny! read more

Me and my wife have been going to Rudy's for many years now (always a great meal) and have also gotten numerous stuff off their truck when they come to our area as part of SACTOMOFO over the last few years. It had been a couple of months since I had anything from Rudy's on the Roll but I was VERY disappointed this time. The roll wasn't even half full of lobster and now they give you just a plain old bag of salt and vinegar chips instead of some homemade chips aka fries. Salt and vinegar chips are a niche market...at least give people a choice because I'm one of those that can't stand them. They still charge $20.00 but you get less lobster and just plain old niche chips in a bag. All in all, it was probably about $7.00 their cost for the meal they charged $20.00 for. We recently visited this food truck. We got the lobster roll, fish and "chips" and the calamari - total $39! Pricey food - friendly service though. My husband enjoyed his fish. The pieces were big and crispy. He was kind of disappointed that the chips were not fries (their menu says natural cut fries) but they were like homemade potato chips. The calamari was okay but kind of bland in my opinion, although it did come with a somewhat spicy cocktail sauce which was good. There was a large portion and the chips came with that too. I was really excited to try the lobster roll, but found it to be just okay. It was big with a lot of lobster but was really soggy and came with the chips which in turn became soggy. Visited this truck at Food Truck Mania this past weekend in Vacaville. Very disappointing! This was the tiniest lobster roll I've ever seen in my life and it didn't taste good, either! The bread was very dry and not toasted, I didn't taste any butter and they gave you 5 potato chips all for $20. Never again! OMG - Met the Cruzin Crustacean Truck folks at Woodland's FoodTruckMania last Sunday. Ordered the Crab and Shrimp Balls with red pepper aoli sauce. SO good! Lightly fried in panko crumbs so easy to bite right into. Smooth and creamy on the inside, with just enough crab and shrimp bits to keep me happy. My friend had the lobster slider and loved it as well (although her 3 yr old grabbed all the bacon out of it before she could enjoy that!
