They slightly altered the course this year, it was more of a big square. It made it easier to foresee the finish line but a bit more drab on scenery. The majority of the run was on the frontage road along side the freeway. There was only one band on the course this year but they rocked. More music at different intervals would have been nice. Being cheered on by PacMan ghosts rocks. Thank you to all of the volunteers. There were plenty of water/Gatorade stops. Everyone showed up in neon & leg warmers. We will be back for #3.

(They're actually acrylic not metal.) Parking was not a problem at Consumnes Oaks High School. There was a gear check, which allowed me to check in my race shirt that I just picked up. It was much more convenient than going back to my car. A costume contest encouraged people to dress up. I spotted a lot of people wearing bright neon clothing. I was the first runner in my 2 person relay team. There isn't a shuttle service but my relay partner's bf drove me back to the start. The relay exchange area is approximately 1.25 miles from the race start/finish area. It would have been faster walking back rather than driving because we went in a big loop and had to park a distance away in the neighboring streets due to street closures for the race. I had an enjoyable time, even though I was slow. I haven't ran a race in 6 months and my finish time reflected that. I guess it was a wakeup call for me to work harder for my next race.

I've been getting regular emails with updates and asking to vote for the Frozen Yogurt flavors and topping to be served on the day. 4 flavors will be available at the Finish Lin with 2 toppings that are pre packed so those finishing later on the morning won't necessarily get a choice of what they get. I had a couple of questions which I mailed about and got a very vague response / no response at all. Night before the event and I am still waiting for someone to get back to me regarding one question with slim to no chance of that happening now. - Both 5k and 10k distances with staggered starts. - Frozen Yogurt at the Finish Line - Awards for top 3 finishers in each age group plus first overall for 5k and 10k. - Gummy Bear toss - Costume competition - Goodie bags do not include a T-Shirt (I think that would be pretty cute seeing as I LOVE Frozen Yogurt) but contains a hat and sunglasses. - Medals in the shape of a spoon for all finishers. - Race day packet pick up only. We ended up driving to the other side of the bridge and paid for parking in Old Sac. My one suggestion would be to start the event earlier (closer to 7 or 8am instead of 9am). Sacramento can get ridiculously hot and I was tired less than halfway through the run due to the extreme heat. Swag included a hat and sunglasses (no tee, unlike most runs). I loved that they had a spoon shaped finisher's medal at the end. Froyo was available at the end of the run. I originally thought that the portions looked a little stingy, but it was filling after they added generous toppings.

We made it to the race just on time, but due to one start time for 5k and 10k, it took awhile to cross the start line. The course was relatively flat. It ran along the Sacramento River and ended at Raley Field. The only complaint I have is having to go up the stairs after the finish line. The race was a good way to start the day.

I shouldn't just day 10K but anybody serious about their running. This is not a race for us. Most of all I am disappointed that no dogs were allowed to finish. They couldn't stop from the race (public streets) but the finish line they did. Why I have no clue. The field was blocked. Dirt just dirt. Really to all the dog lovers ban the Rivercats. They are not dog friendly. My dog is my inspiration and they denied her. She's very well trained and was more respectful then most of the people that were there. I won't do this race again. Not just because of my dog it's dangerous to serious runners. To those who do enjoy yourselves and be safe'

Fun 5k with fellow Yelp buddies (Regina W and Joey B)…read more I wish the run time started earlier, echoing Regina's sentiments, it got HELLA hot on the course. Earlier start means less heat. The course itself was okay, they hills and dirt track made it interesting. Two water stations, the last one needed better staffing, they had people waiting for water, not good for those trying to keep time. Overall, it was pretty fun. Getting FroYo was easy, you choose your flavor and toppings from the slip attached to your race bib and present it at the station. I wish I had gotten a fruit flavor versus the cupcake flavor, too rich after a run! Swag was nice, the hat will be useful for camping since it's incredibly lightweight.

That's my motto when Running Marathon's and it really is no different in this event. 3.1 miles, 8-10 obstacles and mud pits and around 700 Zombies chasing you. The object is to make it through the entire course without being ''infected''. Each runner is given 3 life belts which the ''Zombie's'' are to grab. If you make it over the finishing line with at least one Congratulations, You survived!! This event you could either register as a Zombie or a Runner. I signed up as a Runner while Hubby as a Zombie (bless him, he's not quite as fast and agile as I am). Packet Pick Up: Fast and easy. Not sure if everybody was supposed to get the $20 Uber credit but my Husband got one and I didn't. Hubby also didn't get his Water bottle he was supposed to get as a Zombie (being out in the sun for 2hrs they are much needed!) Volunteers: Great! Very encouraging and upbeat. One showed great concern when he thought I was bleeding.. turned out it was just fake blood from one of the Zombies. Zombies: Great for the most part. There were a lot of people that took it very seriously dressing up for the occasion and staying in character throughout. However, despite the DJ announcing almost every 15 minutes that no physical contact was to be had (Zombies with Humans while trying to get their life belts and vice versa) a couple of female Zombies decided to tag team me - one grabbing hold of my arm while the other took 2 of my life belts before I got away. So not cool. Zombies had their make up and blood done prior to the event which was fairly speedy. The make up artists did a great job. "Woah.. That's one fast Human!" Overheard by a Zombie dude as I dodged and sprinted past him while his friend chased me up the dirt ramp. Location: I've done run's at the Raceway before and it's an ok location. This run was originally scheduled for somewhere else and was moved to here. I think this effected the course. The Course: It was fun but a little disappointing after the location switch up. I was looking forward to the section where they were due to set up a street scene with car wrecks ect. With the location change it was turned into more of a mud run with Zombies as it was the same course used for Mud Factor and Dirty girl with much the same obstacles. Still fun though. Personal experience: As I was just there with my Husband and he was a Zombie I was running most of the course solo which made me an easy target for the Zombies (always safety in numbers people!) I had a great time, especially at the obstacles and I was pretty pleased that I made it to the end with a life belt in tact and bagged myself the ''Survivor" title. Good to know that should the Living Dead style apocalypse ever happen I will fair pretty well. Will definitely do this event, maybe as a Zombie next time.

Apologies for the puns... honestly not intended. This event wasn't quite as good as the Run For Your Lives run, only because it didn't take place in the hills and woods like the 2013 Run For Your Lives run did. Really, that is the only thing preventing the 5 star rating. The terrain was too flat, but the race organizers did a great job working to overcome that. Honestly, we were just really spoiled by the 2013 run location. I'd love to see them use the Oasis off-road race track near Clearlake, CA again in the future. That said, this event had bigger and muddier obstacles which were awesome. We especially enjoyed the big rope walls, rope tresses, spider web, mud pits and barbed wire mud puddles. I just wish they still had the buildings you ran through in the Run For Your Lives run, and the electrical wire. It was a little too light on the zombies, but there were still many great "Ohcrapohcraphohcraphohcraph" moments where you had to sprint as fast as you could to get away. The zombies who were working this day did a great job and really made the race fun. They had great costumes, make up and were really in character. I saw several who were also "Good guy Greg" zombies - they made it a challenge for the runners, but didn't obsess over getting as many flags as they could. They made the runners work for it, but would let them by if they could tell the runner was giving it their best effort. A small minority of zombies did cheesy things like grabbing flags when runners fell and were obviously hurt - but hey - its the apocalypse right? Otherwise I can't express enough appreciation for Human Movement management keeping the "real, good" national zombie run alive. Thanks guys - your hard work gives us something to train for year round, because we all know running sucks unless you've got a reason. Like being chased by a horde of zombies. Awesome.

Proceeds of Elk Grove Gobble Wobble benefit Chicks In Crisis, a local non-profit organization that…read moreprovides supplies and other resources to young and low-income parents to reduce the number of infants entering foster care. I did the 5k and if you're an Elk Grove resident I recommend doing this event because it was kinda surreal being on Laguna/Bond Rd. on foot with zero cars on it ahahah (IYKYK on how much car traffic these particular roads get). Big props to the big EG police presence for security; there was at least one police officer stationed at every quarter mile. I felt very safe. I'd say about 70% of participants walked the course while the rest jogged. A few dog walkers. I docked a star because checking in at the event was, pun-intended, wobbly. Check-in tent wasn't clearly designated (no signage and I only knew that it was the check-in area because there were long lines *for something*). There were two lines and I went to the wrong one (no signage differentiating the two) as there is a line for those who specifically registered a week or more before the event (I registered a few days prior to the event). Ample parking! Definitely won't have trouble finding a spot.

2024 Gobble Wobble!…read more I registered in August for the in-person 5K (Adult) for $30, my 7th time participating in this run/road race. They also had a virtual option for registration. Chicks in Crisis Racing for Babies Outreach mobile unit delivers emergency essentials like diapers, formula, food, hygiene products, and baby items to underprivileged and underserved communities. Three different days (Saturday, Tuesday, and Wednesday) ahead of the race to pickup bib/swag bag/packets at Chicks in Crisis ranch. Certain shirt sizes (Small, Medium) came in a light gray long-sleeve technical shirt, while all others were a dark Barbie-esque hot pink long-sleeve technical shirt (unisex). After the national anthem and a Zumba warmup, the kids' 1/4 mile fun run (untimed) was at 9:00 AM, and the 5K run (timed) started at 9:15 AM. Family friendly, rain or shine...kids, dogs, strollers. I noticed one water station along the frontage road before the trail to the Highway 99 overpass. I did not see mile marker 1, but did see mile marker 2 before the part of the trail that follows the creek back to Longleaf Drive. Did not see mile marker 3 before the finish. These seemed like metal yard stake signs, not A-frames or taller banners. For the bib chips to count your time, you had to make sure to run through/beneath the metal arches at the finish. The afterparty had vendor booths, a kids fun zone, raffles, refreshments, food and music. I got my medal at the finish line, mandarins, bananas, and bottles of water. The photo booth was self-operating, and official race photos at the finish line are available as well as a finisher certificate from On Your Mark Events. I also saw other booths for Colorstreet nails, craft coffee, real estate, and other sponsors.

Santa Hustle is an annual December marathon that occurs in several cities across the nation and the one here in Roseville is the only one held in California. Santa Hustles are charity-driven and in 2024 this particular one supported Stand Up Placer, which assists and empowers Placer County survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. I've been wanting to try doing a 5K run and thought this one fit the bill especially because of how organized the website is in terms of information (course maps, parking, etc.). Same-day check-in was a breeze. Not too crowded either; there was a good proportion of half marathoners, running 5Kers, and walking 5Kers. There's also a kid's dash that starts earlier than the other courses. 5k route is pretty no-frills but easy to navigate. There's one water station about a little over a mile into the route. There was supposed to be also a cookie stop at mile 2 but it ended up being at course finish lol. I parked at the Oak Street parking lot, which is across the garage parking (another place you could park at). This particular parking lot got pretty full by 7:30 am.

I ran my first half marathon in 20 years last winter in Roseville with the Santa hustle race series. At the beginning of the race, someone came on the loudspeaker to let the participants know that "a grinch" had stolen the race signs, but "not to worry, someone would be there" to lead us the whole way through. Unfortunately, I ran most of the race alone, hoping I was going the right way. I'll spare you the details but, essentially, I started out pretty slow and got caught up with the 5K racers. I realized when I saw the finish line! I frantically tried to find my way back to the half marathon course, but I couldn't find anyone to help me get back on track. Luckily, for me, a local woman knew the course and helped me find the entrance. I then ran the entire half marathon, and then some, anxious and wondering if I was going the right way. The water stations were abandoned, the signs were inconsistent and sparse, and I ended up getting very lost, running an extra mile, and having to have my sister-in-law pick me up in a random neighborhood. Mind you, I was running at about a 12 to 13 minute pace. It's just that I started off too slow and got separated from the pack. Lesson learned, but the Santa hustle organizers were of no assistance when I was trying to make sure I was going where I needed to. There were many cross crossing trails in the back hills of Roseville, and were it not for a random runner here or there, I might have gotten off track much sooner than I did. As I mentioned, I've reached out on several occasions to let the organizers know about my experience. I asked them if this happened to anybody else, because I can't imagine I was the only one. After the first few times of getting no response, I asked for a refund. Nothing back from them. Basically I would've settled for an apology. This was pretty traumatizing for me. So if you're looking for a fun winter race this holiday season, I would look elsewhere. Getting lost in trails and hills in the middle of nowhere Roseville really sucks. What sucks even more is the total lack of accountability on the part of the Santa Hustle Folks.

Held at Beals Point in Folsom, CA, it offers a 3.1 mile run, 7 mile run and an 11 mile run. They had a nice set-up in place and if you didn't pre-register, no worries! Plus, the best part is, they give free B-12 shots! The run is actually out on the trails, so there will be some uphill/downhill and it was quite muddy when I went, but it just makes it more fun. Bonus? They provide free food and raffle prizes at the end.....yah for Rubios and Freebies!
